Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Dometic Black Penguin II 15,000-BTU, single-zone, high-capacity RV air conditioner. Now, this air conditioner unit is going to let you replace, upgrade, or add a new Dometic Penguin II air conditioner to your RV or camper. And this ultra-low-profile design is going to minimize wind resistance to improve the fuel efficiency and also give you additional overhead clearance. Now, this 15,000-BTU-per-hour air conditioner is going to quickly and efficiently cool the inside of your RV or camper.
This is going to be compatible with your ducted and ductless systems. And a CT single-zone thermostat and air distribution box is required. Those items are sold separately from this unit, but you will need a CT single-zone thermostat and an air distribution box for this to work with your setup. And this is designed for motor homes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels. But I do want to point out that this has not been approved for use on school buses, food trucks, enclosed utility trailers, or off-roading vehicles because typically those roofs are not built with enough support to handle the weight of an air conditioner system, or there might be too much flex in those roofs that could potentially damage the air conditioner system as you travel.
This is going to be a bolt-on installation. However, the hardware to install this is not included with this. This is going to fit roofs from 1-1/2 inches to 6 inches thick with an opening size of 14-1/4 inches long by 14-1/4 inches wide. And just to give you some measurements here, looking at the overall length from end to end, we're sitting at about 40-1/2 inches long. And then the overall width, again from end to end, we're sitting at about 27-5/8 inches wide, and the overall height about 13-15/16 inches tall.
The weight of this unit is about 100 pounds. And I went ahead and removed the screws that hold this cover in place so I could quickly and easily remove it, so let me go ahead and just pop this cover off so I can give you a view of the inside. And so I'm gonna do another rotation here. Let me go for a lower angle here just so you can get a better view. So let me go ahead and give this a quick turn here just so you can get a view of the inside there from that angle.
And then I'm gonna go ahead and give you an overhead view as well, and I'm gonna just line this up into frame here. Now, this air conditioner does feature a high-performance motor and fan that's going to give you sufficient airflow. The enhanced cooling performance is going to evenly distribute cool air throughout your RV to eliminate hotspots. The quiet operation is going to ensure a more peaceful atmosphere than most traditional air conditioner units. The efficient design is going to require less refrigerant than traditional air conditioner units, so that's gonna help reduce the operational cost. By the way, this does use R-410a refrigerant. As you can see, this does have foam seals to prevent heat transfer. I'm gonna go ahead and replace the cover. And while I'm at that angle there, I'm gonna see if I can give you a view of the top of this unit while the cover's on. Let me see if that'll work. So yeah, you have a pretty good idea of what the top of this unit's going to look like with the cover on. I'm gonna go back to my lower view here. This cover is a hard plastic cover, so it's gonna do a great job of protecting the internal components from water and debris. And as you saw, once you have the screws removed, it's gonna be very easy to remove. Let me show you what one of these screws look like. You're gonna get four Phillips head screws, and so if you ever need to take that cover off, you're just going to remove those four screws. You can pop this off, clean it out, do some maintenance, and then when you're done, you saw how easy this was to pop back on. We'll replace those screws, tighten them down, and you will be good to go. Now, this does feature a ribbed base pan that's going to give you stability and reduce vibration. There are foam pads underneath. And then let me turn this around and give you a view of the wiring harness here. So I just wanted to give you a good view of that. Of course, instructions will guide you through the wiring installation and just the installation in general, and then you're gonna get a pigtail and some additional items here to walk you through that installation process. So that will be included with this unit. And this air conditioner is UL listed, or certified rather, UL certified. And we do also provide this same exact air conditioner with a white cover, so if the black is not going to go with your setup, we do also offer this in a white cover, and you can find that option here at etrailer.com. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
