Although I just received the parts today I was very impressed with the packaging details (who did what) and also the map details of the tracking progress. I was a bit confused why the pkg went from Missouri to indianapolis and then all the way to Washington state and then back to NW Indiana to be handed off to the USPS. A bit strange!

I've not been able to install the brake lines yet, however i'm sure there won't be any problems. Thanks for great parts to fix my brake line issues!

This brake line kit I ordered has worked out very well and has made the braking of my trailer 100 easier. Additionally I ordered and replace the surge coupler and fluid reservoir which was worn and rusted due to previous owner salt water use. The reason to replace the brake lines was also due to salt water damage and had led to the loss of brake fluid and the clunking of the surge system. The whole kit was easy to install but it did require some time and planning because I had to route the lines external to the trailer frame vs the internal lines that were from the factory. I had to replace the Zerc fittings. All in all it is worth the time!

Customer service was excellent. Have not installed kit yet , I have all the parts necessary and I don’t see any problems. Video’s provide all info necessary. Thank you

by:

Kit made the brake system build a breeze. Only change I would make is adding more retaining clips as the kit only comes with three. Definitely recommend this for a new build or replacement.

by:

Great product. I redid my older 20' snowmobile trailer and this kit work as advertised.

Still looks good and works great.

by:

everything worked great to install new brake lines on my trailer

by:

Everything came as stated... All the parts was very good quality. Came with everything.

by:

Provided the plumbing needed. The kit could use a few more of the metal tubing "holders" that screw the trailer, at least for my project I need about 6 more to hold the tubing securely.

by:

Did the job. Needed a couple of other things to complete the hydraulic system but overall it worked great.

by:

OK but needed to make a field modification to make the brakes more serviceable in the future.

by:

seems like a good product. Haven"t finished installing yet. Very helpful in purchase.

by:

Does the job

by:

Very professional all the way and shipped right away and delivered on time. Excellent

by:

  • What is Distance Between Mounting Holes of Dexter A-60 Coupler
The distance between the mounting holes of the Dexter coupler part # DX56FR is 3 inches so it would bolt right up to your trailer. For a manual lockout you could use with this you'd want part # DX94FR. Standard brake line kits like the part # DM5424 would work just fine.

  • Difference Between Demco Hydraulic Brake Line Kits DM5402 & DM5424
It looks like you ordered the Demco Hydraulic Brake Line Kit for Single Axle Trailers - Drum Brakes # DM5402; the only difference between this and the Demco Hydraulic Brake Line Kit for Single Torsion Axle Trailers - Drum or Disc Brakes # DM5424 is a minor difference between parts. The # DM5402 comes with a single 18-7/8" flexible hose which connects the brake line from the actuator to the brake lines that directly go to the trailer brakes. The # DM5424 comes with two 18-7/8" flexible...

  • Flexible Brake Line Compatible With Demco Brake Line Kit For Using With Swing Away Trailer Tongue
You will be able to pair the Demco Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # DM5424 with the 25" Line # T0980100. This will allow for you to use your swing away tongue operate. A Bracket # DM05981-95 will secure the end near your swing away to prevent the hard line from moving around and rubbing on the front of the trailer.

  • What to Do With Extra Hard Brake Line from Brake Line Kit
If you shortened the lines of the Demco Hydraulic Brake Line Kit for Single Torsion Axle Trailers # DM5424 you'd have to have the ends of the line flared so what most do is coil the excess line with a tube bender. This also adds some flexibility to the lines as well.

  • Brake Line Kit that Includes 19 Foot Steel Line for Disc Trailer Brakes on a Boat Trailer
You could use Titan brake line kit # T4829900 instead. It comes with a 19 foot long steel line. Normally if brakes are only going onto one axle of a tandem axle trailer they go on the front axle, not the back axle. That is likely why so many kits only have a 16 foot line. You get better braking when the brakes are on the forward axle.

  • Recommended Disc Brake Components For Demco Kar Kaddy Tow Dolly
For your Demco Kar Kaddy, the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Electric Lockout - Disc - Zinc - 2" Ball - 7,000 lbs # DM62VR will work great. The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 10" Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - Dacromet - 3,500 lbs # K2R35D will not work well with the brake flange so you will want to upgrade the flange to the # 4-35 since the Kar Kaddy has a unique flange instead of the standard. The idler hubs # DM04369 will work well without any modifications. Then you will just need brake lines...

  • Compatibility of Kodiak # K2R526DS Disc Trailer Brake Kit with New EZ-Loader Axle
As long as your new axle has a 5-bolt brake mounting flange, the Kodiak # K2R526DS should work fine for you. You'll also need a brake line kit like part # DM5424 and an actuating coupler like part # 099-175-20 for a 2 inch trailer ball. I've linked you to an FAQ article that shows everything you'll need to think about when you're adding hydraulic disc brakes to a trailer.

Rather than installing hydraulic drum brakes you should look at a Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35D for your tow dolly. That is the style the new Demco Kar Kaddy X Tow Dolly # DM9713093 uses as it would make for a much better setup that will be easier to install. The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35D will allow you to slide the rotor over the existing idler hub. The brackets for the caliper will bolt to the brake mounting flange. You will need to ensure that you have this type of flange on...

  • Selecting a Brake Line Kit for Boat Trailer Being Converted to Disc Brakes
You are correct to place your disc brakes on the rear axle of your boat trailer since this is where most of the weight will be carried (nearer to the boat's motor). Disc brake and torsion axle applications both require flexible brake lines so yes you can use the kit you referenced, part # DM5424. This kit includes 18-7/8-inch long flexible lines, but if your measurement shows you need longer flex lines we offer various sizes of lines; part # T0777300 is 13-inches; part # T0776500 is 18-25/32-inches...

This will allow you to slide the rotor over the existing idler hub, and the brackets for the caliper will bolt to the brake mounting flange. You will also need to ensure that you have this type of flange on your tow dolly otherwise you may not be able to add any brakes to the system. I can help you pick out the parts you would need and make it as simple as possible, but there isn't a single axle electric over hydraulic kit that includes everything. You would want to start the part # HS381-9067 which comes with the nicest actuator around, a breakaway kit, junction box and the needed wiring. For the brake components you would want the part # K2R35D for a 3,500 lb kit unless the trailer will be seeing saltwater. In that case you would want the # K2R35S instead. For a...

Thank you for including a photo of your idler hubs. The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit you referenced, part # K2R35D, requires a standard 4-bolt brake mounting flange in order to mount. The standard 4-bolt square mounting flange that this kit will fit, part # 4-35, is shown in the linked photo which includes measurements of the hole spacing. We do not recommend drilling your existing flanges; it is better to have a qualified welder replace them with the correct ones. Your existing hub appears to...

You can add electric brakes to your older Demco Kar Kaddy 3, so you are going to need a brake actuator # DM62VR, a disc brake kit # K2R35D, and a brake line kit # DM5424. Also, the hub you're looking at # DM04369 will also work fine with this setup. You are also going to need to swap out the brake mounting flange with the Brake Mounting Flange for 2-3/8" Round Axle # 4-35 since Demco uses a non-standard flange. • Brake Line for Hydraulic Disc Trailer Brakes on a Single Axle Trailer
Brake line kit # 9504 is one that we have listed for drum brake applications which have a lower psi rating than disc brakes. What I recommend is # DM5424 that works with drum or disc brakes. This means that the lines are rated for at least 1600 psi which is typical disc brake pressure. Quarter inch line is not available. If you need 1/4 inch steel line then most auto parts stores carry various kinds of brake line and you could inquire about diameter availability.

  • Does The Demco Hydraulic Brake Line Kit Use A Universal Fitting Size?
The Demco Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # DM5424 uses a 3/16" fitting and 3/8"-24 thread size which is very much standard. I am not sure exactly what brand/model of actuator you have, but it should also use the same 3/16" fittings. Virtually all actuators made these days will use this fitting size.
