With the DeeMaxx electric-over-hydraulic actuator, you'll get all the benefits of towing with an electric brake controller while using hydraulic brakes. Because this actuator will activate according to the settings you have chosen for your brake controller (sold separately), you will have more control over when and how the trailer brakes engage. Depending on the features of your brake controller, you may be able to control both the rate and intensity with which the trailer's brakes activate. You can also use the manual override on your brake controller, which allows you to engage the trailer brakes without having to apply the brakes in your vehicle. And perhaps most impressive, if you have a proportional brake controller, the brakes will be activated with an intensity that matches the braking speed and power of your rig.
This pump-and-motor-based system increases response time compared with surge-type actuators because the trailer brakes are triggered when you apply the brakes in the tow vehicle, as opposed to when the trailer pushes against the hitch ball. This not only gives you faster, more efficient braking, but it also eliminates the pushing sensation that occurs in setups that use standard surge brake actuators.
Electric-over-hydraulic actuators also allow you to activate the brakes when reversing down an incline, such as a boat ramp. Having the ability to brake in reverse gives you more control and prevents wear on your tow vehicle.
When brakes retain heat, they are more likely to experience brake fade, or loss of braking power. DeeMaxx addresses this problem by incorporating drainage holes in the hat section of each vented rotor to provide even more ventilation than other brands. Combining these holes with the conventional venting allows DeeMaxx brakes to disperse heat faster. They're also able to shed moisture better, leading to less internal corrosion. The result is cooler-running, longer-lasting brakes that offer consistent performance.
DeeMaxx brakes are the only trailer brakes to satisfactorily pass the high standards of the SAE J2681 brake test. This test is designed to evaluate the friction performance of automotive brakes, so DeeMaxx's passing grade should tell you just how well made these products are.
The patented design of the caliper mounting bolt and sleeve makes installation easier while ensuring that the sleeves stay in place within the caliper. In addition, the side-support design of the caliper mounting bracket puts all of the weight on the bracket instead of on the bolts. This reduces premature wear and extends the life of the bolts, further ensuring optimal performance.
DeeMaxx brakes perform well even in the most demanding environments, which is one of the many reasons why they are preferred by law enforcement agencies like the Texas State Patrol, U.S. Border Patrol, and U.S. Coast Guard.
If you own a trailer, you know that rust and corrosion will eventually creep up no matter where you tow, especially if your equipment doesn't have any kind of protective coating or plating. But if you tow your camper or trailer in the Midwest during the winter, or if you ever launch your boat in brackish water, you'll need even more protection because of the salt you'll likely encounter.
The Maxx coating on the rotors, calipers, and brackets in this kit helps to ensure that DeeMaxx brakes don't end up looking like the one pictured above. It offers great corrosion protection, even with occasional use in freshwater and saltwater. Rust-resistant coatings are graded according to a salt spray rating. Basically, this rating shows the amount of time it takes for a material to show signs of corrosion when exposed to pure, continuous salt spray. Zinc plating typically begins to deteriorate after about 100 hours. Dacromet usually lasts for around 300 to 400 hours. DeeMaxx's Maxx coating lasts for more than 1,000 hours in the salt spray test.
The environment this test creates is much harsher than anything you'll ever experience in your journeys, but it provides a testament to how well DeeMaxx brakes resist rust and corrosion.
If you're living the salt life full-time or you live right on the coast, you'll probably want to invest in something that offers even more protection, like DeeMaxx kits that include stainless steel components for the ultimate in corrosion resistance.
Say goodbye to the days of your truck being pushed and pulled by your trailer. Disc brakes provide a safer, more comfortable ride than drum brakes. They offer shorter stopping distances and deliver consistent braking - even at highway speeds. So, you won't have to worry about things crashing around in your trailer or camper next time you reach unexpected traffic on the highway or debate if you can actually stop before that yellow light turns red.
More and more people are switching their trailers over to disc brakes. Not only do disc brakes provide more controlled braking than drum brakes, but they also save you money by having fewer parts to maintain.
Unlike drum brakes, which have springs, magnets, and shoes that may need to be continually adjusted or replaced, disc brakes are virtually maintenance-free. There are no springs, cables, or other little components that you'll need to worry about failing.
The brake pads will naturally wear down, so eventually you'll have to replace them. But these pads are also way easier to replace than drum brake shoes. And the caliper - where the pads are housed - is located on the outside of the brake assembly. This means you just have to remove that one part to replace the brake pads rather than having to remove the entire assembly like you would with drum brakes.
DeeMaxx also has simple instructions for bleeding the brakes laser-etched on the back of the calipers. This convenient time saver means you'll always have the guidance you need on hand when the time comes for maintenance.
DeeMaxx's integral brake kits combine the brake hub and rotor into a single cast iron piece. Unlike a slip-on assembly, the 1-piece setup makes installation easier because the hub and the rotor are combined . However, this can lead to some extra costs when replacing parts. If either the hub or the rotor needs to be replaced further down the road, the entire piece will be replaced.
Generally, we recommend replacing the brake pads and the rotors at the same time. When you mix and match new parts with used ones, you may save money in the short term, but this has been known to cause problems in the long term, such as uneven stopping power, brake bedding and hot spots. Always confirm that your rotors are in good condition with no rust, corrosion, or grooves before deciding to replace only the brake pad or only the rotor. And always replace parts on both sides of the same axle for balanced braking power.

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the DeeMaxx 13 inch Disc Brake Kit with the electric-over-hydraulic actuator for 7,000 pound single axle trailers. These have an 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this kit will let you upgrade your trailer from drum to disc brakes for superior performance. It will include everything laid out here on the table. I'm gonna go through all the parts here.
We'll start with the hub and rotors, it includes two of these one piece hub and rotors. And the bearing races are pre-installed in the hub and rotors. Also, down here, you'll notice it'll come with the bearings, the seals, the caps, and even the lug nuts. And if you wanna know the part numbers for all these parts, we do list them on the product page. It comes with the two calipers with the brake pads installed and the mounting brackets.
We mentioned it comes with the electric-over-hydraulic actuator. And over here, you can see it'll come with the hydraulic lines and fittings. And if you noticed, the lines are rubber hoses. They'll meet the DOT and SAE standards, and they're easier to install than rigid steel lines. Now, we mentioned this actuator, this is an electric-over-hydraulic actuator, and this is to activate your brakes when your brake controller signals to apply the brakes.
It has a maximum output pressure of 1,600 psi. What's nice with this, there's no lag or delay, it gives you more braking control than a surge type actuator, and it is compatible with most in-cab brake controllers. Now, the brake controller's not included, we do sell those separately. This is great for towing and launching your boat in either fresh or brackish water. It uses a corrosion resistant max coat finish on the hub and rotors, the calipers, the brackets.
They all have a salt spray rating of over 1,000 hours. And the hat section of the hub and rotor, just wanna zoom in and show you right here. If you look right over here, you can see these holes. These are drainage holes in the hat section, and allows water to drain easily, further minimizing any type of corrosion. Now, this will deliver smooth, even braking with a fast response time. The brake pads in the calipers are Kevlar brake pads, they'll dissipate heat, resist wear and tear extremely well. And the calipers use 2 1/2 inch diameter stainless steel pistons, which will provide fast, responsive braking. This kit requires minimal maintenance, saves you time and money. I did wanna show you, if we zoom in on the caliper, on each caliper, they'll use laser-etched instructions on the caliper, so it takes the guesswork out of installing and bleeding your brakes. They do use one piece hub and rotor assemblies to reduce the chance of uneven rotor wear, and it does use a vented design to dissipate heat faster to prevent premature brake pad wear. They do use high quality automotive grade construction, which is long lasting. Again, the application for this kit is 7,000 pound single axle trailers. Bolt pattern again is 8 on 6 1/2 inches. The wheel stud diameter is 1/2 inch. The rotor itself, the actual diameter if you measure it is 13 1/8 inches. And it is designed to fit five-bolt brake mounting flange configurations. But that's gonna do it for the review on this DeeMaxx 13 inch Disc Brake Kit with the electric-over-hydraulic actuator for 7,000 pound single axle trailers.

Includes lines and fittings. The parts themselves are great, but the packaging was AWFUL. A big box with two rotors in it, with loose calipers and pads banging around inside with no additional packaging material to cushion these parts. Disappointed in the etrailer customer service team, who passed the blame to the shippers. I'm sorry, but the shippers didn't package these...etrailer did.
I previously purchased Deemax rotors, calipers with pads and wouldn’t fit my mounting brackets on my venture trailer. I called Stacy at customer service at etrailer and she worked with me and my issues to return the previous shipment (awaiting credit) . She had me buy 2 sets of the brake kits by Deemax which is for 4 wheels of rotors, calipers with pads and mounting brackets and they are great . The brakes and rotors on my trailer were shot, rusted beyond repair and I’ve started to tear them out and replace them all , the rusted bolts are they worst I’ve dealt with- see the photo for the look of the new rotors , bracket and still installing calipers.
I purchased this to replace what the OEM had on my trailer. Easy install, but had a probem with it after install. etrailer could not help determine how to fix the issue, but gave me the number to the manufacturer. After several calls to DeeMaxx with no reponse I figured it out.
Product was as expected, good quality braking system, installed easily in about 1-2 hours per wheel. Shipping and ordering was quick and easy. Time will tell more after installing on my fresh water boat trailer.
Unfortunately, it did not clear my 15” wheels properly, as indicated in the product description. I found by adding a 1/4” wheel spacer, that was just enough to get the clearance needed to prevent the calipers from rubbing on my 15” rims. (I have also seen others say that they used a grinder to take about 1/4” off the caliper body to get them to clear). This is the only reason for 4/5 stars.
Great brake system, starting to rust now but I dunk my trailer in saltwater 4 times a week. Thank you George J and team for quick shipping and maintaining contact even a full year after initial sale. Will be using etrailer for future purchases!
Heavy duty mounting brackets and calipers. Very high quality.
Good product. Great service. Some damage occurred during shipping, but replacement parts were shipped free of charge.
Excellent brakes for my boat trailer.
DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit - 10" Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - Maxx Coating - 3,500 lbs came fast and well packed. Thank you
WOrks very good. Fit on a 15" rim were not good. The site said any 15, 16 or larger. The calibers drag on the inside of rims. I had to choose to go larger size rims but did not want to go larger because the hight I was at lauching boat now. Called tech support, they worked wirh manufacture and was told to grind dowm edge or caliber. It has extra metal from mold at factory. I did about 1/4 inch end to end and all is good with about 1/8 clearaance now.
The package fit my boat trailer perfectly. Installation was fairly easy and I am ver pleased with the product. thanks
The cap to the brake fluid broke in shipping wondering if u can send a new one
rapid delivery, boxed well and brakes look of good quality. E trailer is so easy to order from and responsive.
quick turnaround and good pricing. Will use again.
Quick delivery
Now just need to install
Easy to order. Shipped and showed up f ast.
Everything about this order went extremely well. Rotors and brakes are a major improvement of the standard equipment that came with Venture trailer. Simple to install and time will tell on longevity.
DeeMaxx parts seem to last longer in our saltwater than the Kodiak. I had both until the Kodiaks locked up. I bought this set to replace the Kodiaks that were a couple years newer than the Deemaxx.
Fast, nice, happy
Prefect fit
Came in quick for installation
item looks to be excellent quality.!
Perfect fit to the original trailer bra kes!
This particular combination was back ordered. Trevor kept me informed all the way through till it was delivered to my house. It was great working with him.
