Bolster-and-swivel-bracket assemblies are typically mounted upright on a boat trailer's crossmembers. They allow a mounted bunk board, which runs from the front of the trailer to the back, to tilt to accommodate and support boat hulls of different sizes. On kayak trailers, these brackets are mounted to the trailer's frame and support bunk boards that run across the trailer.

Galvanized Steel

Steel parts are galvanized by being hot-dipped in zinc after they have been stamped. This creates a coating that is typically 3 mil to 5 mil thick. This thick, all-around coating allows galvanized steel products to provide years of use without rusting or corroding.

  • Should Lock Washers or Nylon Lock Nuts be Used for CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket
Hey Dave, I think you figured out your problem without realizing it - you need to have either lock washers or nylon lock nut in order to secure the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies # CE10000G-4 to your trailer frame. Without hardware that "locks" in place, the weight of your boat will slowly cause everything to start slipping the more you use it. We don't have a specific torque spec for the hardware, but if you try using the correct hardware for it, I'm confident you'll...

  • Can Bunk Boards Longer Than 69-1/2" be Installed on a Boat Trailer
Hey Dave, thanks for reaching out again! To be honest, boat trailers are a DIYers best friend because each one is different and people will swap things out to fit different needs, just like you're doing now. Basically, as long as it fits on your trailer and all of the weight ratings are being observed you'll be good to go. Bolster brackets like the CE Smith # CE10000G-4 are industry standard, and while there are likely some unique brackets with different mounting pieces out there in the...

  • Recommended Roller Bunks Replacement for Wooden Bunks for G3 1860 Boat
We do have a variety of roller bunks that can be used as a direct replacement for carpeted bunks. I recommend either going with the 2,500 lb capacity which comes in Black # DL21754 or Silver # DL21740, OR the 3,000 lb capacity which also comes in Black # DL21755 or Silver # DL21741. I have also attached a link to all of the options that you can check out, as well as a link to all of our brackets if they also need replacing.

  • Will A Stryker LX 360 Air Boat Fit On CE Smith Multi Sport Boat Trailer CE48810?
Since your Stryker LX 360 inflatable boat is 11'7" long x 5'6" wide it will fit on the CE Smith Multi Sport Boat and Kayak Trailer w/ Bunks - 8" Wheels - 12' Boat - 800 lbs # CE48810 you were looking at and have the motor/transom completely on the bunks, but the front half of the boat will not be. The bunks are only 4-1/2' wide so you will have about 6" overhang on each side of the trailer. You will just want to move the winch mount forward until it is in the correct location for you to...

  • Parts Needed to Convert a Boat Trailer From Rollers to Bunks
In order to switch from rollers to bunks, you will need to remove the rollers that you are no longer using. I do not see a reason why you can't continue to use the front rollers. You would just want bunks that stop a little but before the front rollers so they do not interfere with each other. You would need to get the bunk boards, swivel brackets and u-bolts for installing the bunk boards. You will need to measure to determine the correct length of bunk board that fits between the middle...

While we don't have wooden bunks that are as long as you need we do have the brackets you can use with part # CE10000G-4 which you'd use u-bolts like the part # CE15283GA-2 to secure to the crossmembers that run left to right on your trailer. The front to back beams that your rollers are on would need to come off.

  • What Replacement Swivel Heads do You Carry for My Boat Roller Bunks on My Trailer?
If you have a boat bunk bed bracket system that has swivel heads like the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies - Galvanized Steel - 9" - Qty 4 # CE10000G-4, the only way to extend the length of them is by purchasing longer swivel heads. Currently, our longest swivel heads we carry are 3-1/2 inches long. Those are the Swivel Bracket for Boat Trailers - Zinc Plated Steel - 3-1/2" Long # HP35FR. Unfortunately, if you need anything longer than that, you would have to do a custom fabrication...

  • Do CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies Have an Angle
The CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies # CE10000G-4 can be rotated to the side to accommodate different hull designs but they aren't meant to be tilted towards the front or back of the trailer. The first photo, which I believe you're referring to, looks like they are angled because of their orientation and the hardware still being a little loose. If you check out the linked review video you'll see what I mean.

  • Could Keel Rollers Be Used at the Bottom of Trailer to Roll Boat On
Keel rollers like the part # CE29560 do not have the capacity for the full weight of a boat. They typically have a capacity of around 400 lbs. You would be better served with a set of roller bunks like the part # DL21741 instead. These have a capacity of 3,000 lbs. I attached a picture that shows how they look when installed. For a set of brackets to use to install the roller bunks you would want the part # CE10000G-4.

  • Does Boat Have to Be Off Trailer to Install New Boat Bunk Boards
Boat trailer bunk boards like CE Smith # CE27840 can be secured to swivel brackets like # CE10000G-4 using either galvanized or stainless steel hardware intended for wood. This is not included so you will source the preferred hardware locally. Lag bolts/screws would be great to secure the bunks to the brackets (as long as they are short enough to not come through the bunk). Obviously the boat would have to be off the trailer to be able to install the bunks like you mentioned so you would...

  • How Much Weight Can the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies Hold
The CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies part # CE10000G-4 do not have a specified weight capacity as it can vary by the strength of the u-bolts used in conjunctions with these brackets as well as how many brackets are used per board. According to a representative from CE Smith, when the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies - Galvanized Steel - 9" - Qty 4, part # CE10000G-4, is installed correctly these brackets do not support any weight. The u-bolts support the weight. The representative said as long as you use a, part # CE10000G-4, on each crossmember you will not have any issues with the weight of your boat. • How To Determine Correct Bunk Boards and Mounting Hardware For 17' V Bottom Boat
We have exactly what you are looking for. It is recommended to have bunk boards at least 50% of the length of your boat, so since your boat measures 17' long you would want to go with bunk boards that are at least 8-1/2' long. This is the minimum recommendation so you can absolutely use longer bunk boars if desired, you just want them to run from the stern as far forward as you desire. Based on how the crossmembers are on your trailer I would pickup some 10' long 2" x 4" boards and wrap...

The CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies, # CE10000G-4, do not come with any mounting hardware. Because the brackets can be used for different size and type bunks they do not include the hardware because it would not cover all applications. Since you've got a boat trailer, you'll want to use something that offers a good level of corrosion resistance. We have two different u-bolts that would work for you, one that's zinc plated # CE15252A and one that's stainless steel, part # CE15253A. If you're in a freshwater environment, the zinc plated u-bolt would work fine, but if you're using your boat in saltwater, you might consider the stainless option.

This can absolutely be done. While there are not "kits" for doing the conversion, we do have the parts that you will need. It is recommended to have bunk boards that are at least 50% of the length of your boat. You can have longer boards if you would like, but you want at minimum 50% of the length. Since your boat is 21', you will want bunks that are at least 10.5' long. I...
