  • Comparing Tuson and Curt Electronic Sway Control Devices
The Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV wins for ease of install and it does a really good job but if you were wanting the best sway control that applies the left and right brake assemblies independently the Tuson # 335TSC-1000 although more involved to install is the best option out there. The Curt uses Bluetooth to connect to your smartphone which based on the reception issues we see with their Bluetooth brake controllers this wouldn't be my best recommendation...

  • Can 2024 Toyota Highlander Limited Use Weight Distribution Hitch
Hi Earle; in general, a weight distribution hitch is a no go for unibody vehicles. However, that is not an absolute. I don't see anything specifically calling out weight distribution in the owner's manual so it is possible if the manufacturer says it is ok. I would reach out to a local dealer to see what they have to say about it. Assuming it is allowed, you will need a hitch that is compatible with weight distribution which would be the Curt # C45CR. For the weight distribution hitch...

  • Does the Curt True Course Sway Controller Work w/ Sway Control on a 2019 Ford F-150?
No. If you're 2019 Ford F-150 has built in electronic sway control then it does the same thing that the Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control item # C94VV does. You would have to disable the built in sway control to use it.

  • Is There a Sway Control Device for Towing Trailer that Does Not Require Drilling
We have the Curt True Course part # C94VV which would work well to prevent sway and does not require you to drill into the trailer tongue like other options. This device normally does install with self tappers into the trailer tongue but if you didn't want to drill you could run heavy duty zip ties around the device to hold it to the trailer frame. This prevents sway by sensing it when it starts and then applying the trailer brakes till it stops.

  • Curt True Course Compatibility with 2017 Ford F-350 and Triple Axle Toy Hauler
The Curt True Course Electronic Sway Control System # C94VV is compatible with your triple axle trailer. The system uses a solid-state gyroscope to sense sway and gps to monitor speed. It then will determine the brake force needed to correct the sway at that speed and activates all your trailer brakes simultaneously to the proportional amount to correct that sway. It is self-calibrating so there are no adjustments needed. You simply mount it to the A-Frame of your trailer and plug...

  • Will Brake Lights Flash When Using Curt True Course Sway Control
Those are some good questions, and we'll start with if the brake lights will flash during activation using the Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV. The answer to that is no, they will not flash when the True Course is activated; brake lights only go on when you step on the brake pedal due to how your trailer is wired, and the signal comes from the wire from the brake light signal. The True Course # C94VV is not wired to that signal so it will not activate your...

  • Does Curt True Course Sway Control Replace Need for Weight Distribution
The Curt True Course part # C94VV is a really cool device that senses sway and applies the trailer brakes in a way to basically stops it before it you notice it. While this does take care of the sway problem it does not offer the other advantages of WD systems like suspension sag reduction, improved braking, and improved handling. This kit would work great with a WD system though. For a weight distribution system the Equal-i-zer part # EQ37060ET would be a great option for your 500 lb...

  • Can Curt True Course Electronic Sway Control be Used with Tekonsha RF Brake Controller
From your vehicle's trailer wiring connector you'd want to plug in the Prodigy RF part # TK94FR and then you'd plug the Curt True Course # C94VV into that and from there your trailer's wiring. I attached a link to the RF brake controller instructions as well as a picture that covers how the Curt installs.

  • How Does The Tucson Sway Control Affect The Trailer Brake Wiring And Operation Of Brake Controller?
The Tuson Asymmetric Sway Control # 335TSC-1000 will wire onto your trailer and does not wire into you GMC Sierra. It will involve some modification to the trailer brake wiring since the Tucson separates the left brakes from the right to help control the trailer sway. I have linked the installation instructions near the bottom of the page so you can see how it is supposed to be positioned 5-10' behind the hitch. This will not have any affect on your trailer brake controller as it will...

  • Do I Need Weight Distribution or Sway Control To Haul a Camper
The Jayco Jayflight 2005 28FKS has a dry tongue weight of 1135 lbs. That is a lot for a 3/4 ton truck and will have you close to the payload. With the air bags you will be able to get rid of the sag in the suspension but I would certainly want sway control. That is a big sail that cross winds or passing semis could cause a sway event to occur and give you issues. The thing with sway is you do not know when it will occur and it can be very severe. At a minimum I would run sway control ...

  • Does Curt True Course Sway Control Unit Have to Mount on Driver's Side of Trailer
Hi Mike, You do not need to mount the Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV on the driver's side of the trailer, it does just need to be level. The video is actually referring to how it's facing; the side of the # C94VV with the 7-way attached needs to be facing the vehicle - think of it as the 7-way needs a straight line path to your vehicle's connector. So you would not be able to orient the module facing the rear of the trailer. As far as braking power,...

  • Options To Help Reduce Trailer Sway with 8.5 x 20 Enclosed Trailer
I have a few options that will help you get better control of your trailer so you don't have to worry about sway issues while out on the highway. The best option is going to be a weight distribution system with friction sway control, the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System part # C17500 is what I recommend. The TruTrack is going to do more to reduce trailer sway than pretty much any other type of similar device. It will also help to help level the tow vehicle if you have any sag or...

  • Can A Friction Sway Bar Be Added to the Reese Dual Cam Weight Distribution System
I do have an option for you but the Curt Friction Sway Control for Weight Distribution Systems part # 17200 or one like it cannot be used with the Reese Dual Cam Weight Distribution System because there is no room for the bracket to mount on the trailer frame. However, if you still have sway with the Reese Dual Cam you may want to shift the weight on your trailer around so that you have more near the tongue. The other option if the trailer has brakes would be an electronic sway control...

  • Can The Curt True Course Be Mounted On A 5th Wheel Trailer
Hi Mike, The Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV would still need to be mounted to the frame of the trailer just as it would be with a bumper-pull trailer. Neither Curt nor Lippert could tell me if the unit had to face a specific direction, just that it needs to be level on the frame to properly operate. Some 5th wheels have a beam between the frame rails at the front that sticks out enough from the body to mount to, otherwise you'll need to place it on the...

  • Can A Sway Control Kit Be Added To A B&W Tow & Stow Ball Mount
The design of the B&W Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount # BWTS20067BMP wouldn't allow for a secondary bracket and ball to attach a friction sway control kit, like part # 83660. The only sway control you could use with this ball mount would an electronic sway control system like the Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV. This would automatically detect sway and activate the brake assembly on one side to help pull the trailer back in line.

  • Is There an Advantage To Using a Weight Distribution Hitch Over Stand Alone Sway Control
I can see how this might be a confusing choice of words. I've seen instances where people have used both a weight distribution hitch with sway control AND the Curt True Course in order to create a "super" sway control system to keep their trailer in line behind their tow vehicle. With that being said, which one you choose typically comes down to whether or not you really need a weight distribution system or can get away with simply having sway control. Good question, and the Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV will work with any brake controller, not just Curt. • Will Curt True Course Electronic Sway Control Help with Ice and Slippery Snow
All of our electric sway control systems, like the Curt # C94VV you referenced, will apply the brakes when it senses sway (whether it is due to ice and snow or not) but the thing to remember is that if the tries aren't getting traction to begin with then applying the brakes won't be very effective. And depending on the speed you are traveling it may confuse the slide with turning instead of sway. If you plan on towing your trailer in ice and snow on a regular basis then you may consider...

  • Does The Curt True Course Allow The User To Adjust Its Sensitivity?
I just checked with my contact at Curt. The Curt True Course # C94VV does not have a provision for the user to adjust its sensitivity. The True Course is more for emergency maneuvers, high winds, semi trucks passing and so on. It is not necessarily designed for minor sway situations that are typically handled by a weight distribution system. The True Course has a built-in motion sensor, so it does not activate until the sensor is moved enough to do so.

  • Recommended Anti Trailer Sway Device for a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas
It would be a great idea to use an anti-sway system with your 2018 Volkswagen Atlas and small single axle travel trailer. The smaller single axle trailers are actually more prone to sway than the larger tandem and triple axle trailers due to the lack of tongue weight. There are two styles of anti-sway control, friction and electric. The owner's manual for your Atlas restricts the use of most friction sway control devices so your best option will be an electric anti-sway device. I recommend...
