Heavy-duty fifth-wheel trailer hitch has a dual jaw and color-coded lock indicator for superb safety and security. Self-aligning, pivoting head and included lube plate make hookup a snap. OEM adapter rails included.
Features:
Specs:
Note: This fifth-wheel trailer hitch is not compatible with rotating pin boxes, such as the Reese Sidewinder, Reese Revolution, and 5th Airborne Sidewinder.
Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.
Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).
Curt's unique spherical axial bearing provides a durable pivot point that allows easy, 360-degree movement of the hitch head. This ball joint is designed for smooth, quiet operation with less clunking and chucking.

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at eTrailer and today, we're taking a look at the Curt Adaptor Rails for 5th Wheels. Now, this is gonna work for the OEM prep package that we have here on our 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500. The puck system or OEM prep package, as they call it that a lot of newer trucks are seeing are really nice because you can simply drop in a 5th Wheel, but, if you already have a 5th Wheel and it's not compatible, it's normally in a rail system. Well, you can pick up this adapter to make that fifth wheel head work. Now, these are standard rails as far as the industry goes so it's gonna work with most 5th Wheel heads. The only one that really has compatibility issues, is gonna be the BMW Sliding Companion and that's just because of the clearance as it slides.
But that really opens it up to whatever 5th Wheel you may have or be looking at and still be able to hook this up. Now, something to keep in mind, this is gonna add height to the overall height of your 5th Wheel while in the bed, about two and a half inches. So, just something to keep in mind when adjusting your 5th Wheel and checking your trailer to make sure that it lines up perfectly. Now, while we have this on a Silverado it's also gonna work with GMC trucks. So, your Sierras are gonna work perfect as well, but also it has the adjustability to be able to work with the Ford ones, which you sit a little bit wider.
So, if you ever plan on getting a different truck and you still want to keep your same 5th Wheel you can adapt this and drop it into those OEM prep packages. (metal scraping) The handles just lock this into the puck system pretty easily. So, these will just unlock by sliding these out. (metal clanking) (boot thumping) And the great part too is there is some adjustability. So, not all prep packages fit exactly the same little bit of tolerance differences, but with our castle nut and cotter pin system here, we're able to actually adjust it to where you have that perfect tolerance.
Now, the black powder coat finish is gonna be nice, especially if you plan on leaving this in the bed especially uncovered, because that will hold up long term. Keep this from corroding or rusting at least give it a fighting chance for that. Now, this is a pretty heavy-duty kit rated at 25,000 pounds. So, while this is pretty heavy-duty, you also wanna make sure that you're checking the vehicle to make sure that it can handle the weight, and also you're only as good as your 5th Wheel. So, between all of those three components take the lowest of those numbers so you stay safe.
Now, this is pretty easy to assemble. It's pretty straightforward and can be done about 15 minutes with minimal hand tools. So, let's take a look at that so you can get yours installed. Gone ahead and laid out my parts and that way we can start assembling this. And it looks like, as far as tools go, it's gonna be pretty simple. A 3/4 inch socket, a 15/16 socket, a torque wrench, and a plier for our cotter pins. So we're gonna start here on the left side and I've just laid these out. So you'll see that one edge goes all the length of it. That's gonna be the inside of our rail. So, the way I have it laid out is the way that it's going to sit once we have it mounted up. We're going to slide over our spacer and you'll see that one side is gonna be thicker than the top side here, as I have it laid out. So, we'll slide, (metal clanking) we'll have the larger portion down here by the head of our bolt. This is going to fit right here. (metal clanking) We're gonna grab our side-specific handle, and you're gonna know that it's the proper one. You want the handle kind of to where this top portion faces or is at the same height here of our rail. And, there's this little notch that's our stop. So you should be able to move this, and this will kind of go in this center portion, that whole line up. Now, if it's not able to move, then you're gonna wanna swap that handle to the other one, and then we'll finish this up with a flat washer and our castle nut. I'm gonna go ahead and get this threaded down. And you don't wanna go too crazy here. I just hand did that. And so you still want to have some mobility here so you can kind of, loosen it up a little if you need to. (metal scraping) You wanna be able to slide this pretty easily and if you crank it down, you're gonna lose that. So, we do need to align it with the hole in the bolt. So find that sweet, happy medium of being able to move the handle, but still get your cotter pin through. So, I'm gonna go back one here And I'm happy with that. So, we'll go ahead and grab our cotter pin. (metal scraping) I may have to turn this here, but we'll feed this in and then pry out our ends, and that way it's gonna hold that in place. So, normally just a set of needle nose here will work well. Slide this down (hands tumbling) (metal clinking) and then as we bend both ends back, that should lock it in place. So with this one in place, we'll just go ahead and repeat for the other remainder ones again. Just making sure that our handles are able to actuate. Now, if you have your puck covers, you're gonna want to go ahead, take those out, and we're gonna drop this in. So with my handles kind of at a 90 here from our rail (metal clunking) we'll go ahead and get these tightened down (metal scraping) and then we'll align this hole here. And then we can put our linchpin in place, (metal clanking) and we'll just snap this in place. And then we'll go ahead and get our other side in as well. So now grab one of your rails, and you'll see the slots here for the 5th Wheel. You want that facing towards you. And then we'll line this up. (metal clunking) And on the GM trucks they're gonna be using the third and fifth hole. It should line up pretty well centered so you should know you have it in the right spot. We'll then take our carriage bolts and pass it through. (metal scraping) (metal chinking) Now in getting these in, if the tolerances are pretty tight and it's not wanting to pass through perfectly. What you can do is take that linchpin off. I loosen this side up and you're gonna want to get your outside ones in first. And that should align the middle ones a little bit better because if you do these two first, you might be a little bit off here. (metal clanging and scraping) Now once we have both of our rails in the front and back with all the carriage bolts passed through we'll go ahead and take our serrated flange nuts, and I'm gonna just hand tighten these on for now. (metal screw scraping) So, now we're gonna come back with our 3/4 inch socket and using the torque settings found in the instruction manual, I'm gonna torque all of these down properly. (socket crunching) If you need a torque wrench we have them available here at etrailer. You can generally go to an auto parts store and rent one for free. (socket crunching continues) Now, we'll just go ahead and repeat for the remainder of the hardware. So, you can see I have my Curt E16 5th Wheel that we just dropped into the rails, and I can go and grab a different 5th wheel and do all the same. All that's left to do is pin it in place through the rails and then we're ready to hit the road. And that was a look at the Curt Adapter Rails for OEM prep packages on a 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500.
Well your shipping is very poor, sent you photos of the container, the item was scratch and hopefully not dropped, will get installed and see if it works. Customer service was 5 star. But shipping something that heavyvin a card board box was crazy.
I bought a new trailer recently that weighs 16k and I just didn't feel secure using my Reese pro series 16k to Haul with. So I started looking at various hitches. I've had 3 other fifth wheel hitches in the past. All of them have been 15 and 16k models. What I never liked was the latching system. I've even had a trailer come out of the hitch due to a poor latching hook up. There wasn't an good way to lock the hitch. Some of it was my fault and some was a poor design. When I saw the Curt Q20 had a latch on the handle and also was color coded I was hooked. This hitch satisfied my want list. It arrived 4 days after I ordered it and like other comments I've read it was full of heavy duty staples. It was double packaged. There had to be over 50 staples. It was defiantly packaged securely. After dimantaling the packing I finally got to the hitch. There were a few scratches on the hitch from all the staples but a bit of black touch up paint took care of that. After all the hitch is going to be used and get scrached by me anyways. Four bolts and it was together. It fit perfictly it my existing rails. By the way it's heavier than my other hitches. I wound be apprehensive to pull my new trailer. If your looking for a great hitch at a great price you can't go wrong.
Unlike other reviews...I will say that my packages all arrived in perfect condition. (Boxes were all intact). Assembling the Q20 is a breeze and by all appearances this hitch certainly seems to be more than adequate for my needs. I haven't had a chance to actually use it yet...but from what I can tell, I certainly don't expect any issues. I like the way the hitch latches and unlatches, and that you can add a lock to prevent someone from opening the jaws while you are parked somewhere. I think the only thing I'll add is a lock in place of one of the pins...just to make it difficult for someone to remove and steal the hitch.
I have just used the hitch on some very short pulls, nothing long yet. However, I can tell it is much quitter and does not seem to chuck as much as my old hitch. Appears to be very well built. Heavier than the old 15K hitch I had before. The only down I can find right now is that there is not a good place to hook up the emergency stop brake cable. I was able to rig up a connector that works just fine.
Couldn't give it anymore stars after I took the hitch out of the box and it was all scratched up. Always good when you spend xxx on a hitch to receive it in that condition
This product has worked perfect for me using with my 2012 Wildcat Sterling 5th wheel. Customer service is the best at etrailer.com. Just love doing business with them!
Great hitch. Used several times. Love the way it comes apart into two pieces for ease of carrying when taking it out and putting it back in. Locks the trailer in tight too. Gets my trailer to were I want to with no problems.
Got my 5th wheel double boxed and in good shape. Took 2hrs to install outboard base rail kit. Everything finger tight. This Morning it took me 2hrs to drill the 4 center holes, I put 2 in the center on each rail, remove spare tire and torque everything down and replace spare tire.
The outboard base rail kit was a snap to install and I love the Curt Q20 with no floppy 5th wheel plate.
I placed my order on Tuesday evening and it arrived early Friday. Very fast shipping!!! The hitch installed easily using etrailer custom rail kit. Hitch itself seems way to use. Can't wait to pickup new camper next week! Thank you etrailer for such awesome service!!!
Arrived in the time identified, and all materials included. Box was damaged during shipping but packaged well enough that no damage occurred. Installed and got me out a jam caused by a height issue with original hitch installed by dealer causing the trailer to ride nose high. Leveled out and still maintaining the proper clearance between the bed and trailer.
Is difficult to get the jaws to lock- sometimes have to manually push one jaw to get it to spring closed. Any idea why?
Bought the Q20 Curt hitch to replace the 16,000# Curt hitch we used for our previous 5th wheel trailer. The new trailer is heavier, so I wanted to upgrade. I like the Curt products and wanted to continue with them. The dual locking jaws were the real selling point.
etrailer and Lisa D are a joy to work with. We had a problem with another product and Lisa handled it perfectly and professionally.
Arrived on time with everything as promised. I have purchased multiple times from etrailer with outstanding results every time
This 5th wheel hitch was just 4 bolts to put together. Easy - peasy
This product was easy to assembly. Very clear instructions and it took less then an hour to install. I was impressed with the packaging. The cardboard box the rails came in had steel inserts in the corners to keep the rails from breaking through. The box also had 1/8" plywood in the top and bottom for rigidity. It fit perfectly in the puck system in my Silverado. By purchasing it from "Etrailer" and installing it myself, I saved $1,600 by not having the RV Dealership install one for me. Only tools I needed was a socket wrench and a torque wrench.
Easy installation and I loved the fact everything you needed came in a package deal!
I had a 16K Husky 5th wheel hitch for 12 years. It came with the RV purchase. We upgraded to a larger 5th wheel in 2015. I pulled it with the K16 but due to wear on the hitch I didn't feel comfortable.
I searched the internet and came upon etrailer.com. I began researching different hitches. I settled on Curt due to it's reviews.
I placed an order with etrailer and the next day I got an email with all of the shipping and tracking information.
I had the hitch in 5 days. I was very disappointed when it was delivered. The shipping box was very light duty and had been reinforced with pieces of cardboard damaged. There was also a lot of heavy duty staples holding it together.
I took photos upon delivery. After I opened the box I found the hitch was damaged. I immediately sent an email with photos of the box as received and the damage to the hitch.
I called customer service and talked to Gina and Janice and went over the details.
I was given instructions for returning the hitch and was emailed necessary papers to ship it back at no charge. I dropped it off at UPS the same day and received notification in 3 days that it was received.
I was also advised a new hitch would be sent out and I received it in 3 days.
At first I was very upset but after. That quickly changed after talking to the staff and receiving the new hitch within 5 days.
These type things sometimes happen. I give the staff at etrailer.com an applause for their quick handling of this issue.
I have since made another purchase. Give them a try.
Excellent customer service and great pricing from e-trailer. The Q20 is an extremely heavy duty and well made hitch.
I ordered the hitch on a Sunday evening of a holiday weekend, I received the shipping information on Monday of the holiday and was able to track it all to the way to my door, couldn't ask for better order tracking.
The hitch was double boxed with a lot of staples and arrived in excellent shape a package that heavy is going to have some external wear IMO from all the handling. The hitch came delivered in 3 piece which allowed for easy moving into the bed of the truck. The hitch has very nice and hopefully durable finish . I have yet to tow with it but like the indicator colors and the positive locking system.
This is a replacement hitch for a previous Curt Q20. I am very happy with the product and the service provided by etrailer. A great product at a fair price.
I have not received my hitch yet ups told me it was damaged and would let you..I called you yesterday to have you reship it I will give you a review when I get my hitch
Just pulled my Voltage 3950 yesterday with this hitch and I cannot be more satisfied! The whole process from start to finish with etrailer.com was awesome. Yes, a little damage to the box but hey, if it means I get a quality hitch at a lower price then so be it. I'd rather them not overspend on shipping. Can't thank y'all enough.
I've had trouble hooking up to my 5th wheel trailer, up, down or a little to either side
Great customer service.
Just got back from a two-week road trip out west, the new trailer hitch performed without a snag! Easy docking and undocking, very nice to have a nice smooth ride. We are very impressed and thankful for an excellent product.
The package in which the hitch arrived was in pretty rough shape, but all the pieces arrived. There is one place on the deck itself where it took some scuffing of the paint from whatever it was banged on during shipping. We are going to have to touch up that place to keep it from rusting in the elements.
All in all, this was a great buy. Thanks
Ordered during etrailer's free shipping promotion. Got my order quicker than anticipated. The box that tries to contain the hitch is pretty humble, but all the parts/pieces seem to be here. That is what is important. As other's have said, we didn't order the box, but the contents.
