Perfect for light-duty towing, this custom, vehicle trailer hitch receiver features fully welded, gloss powder coated steel construction. Drawbar sold separately.Packaging a bit beat up when it arrived, however, no damage to the hitch and all bits and pieces were there. Approximately one hour to unpack, set up and do solo install. Definitely would have been easier to install with a second set of arms (muscle).
Hitch was ordered Thursday and arrived Saturday. Box was made of a very heavy cardboard with reinforced ends. Also had convenient hand holes for handling. Kudos for that. It would have been a nightmare to try wrestle and hang the Hitch if it was bent. Looking forward to using the Hitch to haul bikes next week. That passenger side rear bolt is a $@#! Well done etrailer.
Installed fairly easily and have towed utility trailer with it many, many times now. Torque spec for this is around 20 lb-ft more than Toyota says for their hitch (I think it’s 80 vs 60), so I worried a little about stripping, but it has been perfectly fine.
After reviewing the installation video, my husband and I (we are both seniors) were able to install this item fairly easily.

I’ve been using this for a year to carry my bike rack. Still solid and looking good!
I read of other purchasers finding the hitch tearing large holes in the standard weight cardboard box. My package also was torn at both ends and the mounting bolts were missing, apparently having fallen out of the box through the large holes. Packaging seemed reputation destroyingly inadequate. My last purchase
The opening is slightly wider than any of the 6 previous 1-1/4” hitch receivers I have installed. All hitches have had little wiggle when installed with just hitch pin. On this hitch receiver I need to get a Ubolt hitch snugging adapter to take the rattle and sway out of this receiver. Manufacturing tolerances must have chine by the wayside at Curt.
Like many others, the box arrived pretty beaten up. Securing the hitch with bits of cardboard stapled to the inside and outside of the box is just not enough. The hitch gets loose and tries to escape the box.
Having said that, remarkably there was no damage other than to the box itself. The hitch is a heavy hunk of metal that even UPS can't easily hurt. (I would worry about anything else in the box, though.)
Anyway, the fit was perfect and the installation went well. Like the other fellow said, it would be so much easier to install with someone helping, but I got it done in about 1.5 hours. Any difficulties I had were the result of working in a tight space on the right side bolts. To anyone else installing this hitch on a Rav4: line everything up, then just start the bolts on the left side. Leave them loose. Find something to support the right side while you get the bolt holes lined up. Then with the smallest hands available, start the bolts on the right side. Then you can tighten down everything.
Second etrailer order this year that’s been loose and damaged due to ridiculously insufficient packaging. The 50lb unsecured hitch was in an oversized box with ZERO dunnage or means to prevent the hitch from flopping around in the box. The box was completely open, and every side of the box was ripped or gouged. I suspect the driver put the hitch back in the box. Quite frankly, thinking this packaging is ok sends a very clear middle finger to the customer. Time to move on from etrailer.

I can see that the hitch had a rough journey. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to assist you.
AS others have mentioned, the packaging is insufficient and the hitch arrived with punctures and some holes in the corrugated box. However, the hitch was in perfect condition and was easily installed (by my local mechanic as I am not handy). I do think they should invest a bit more in the packaging, even if they have to up the price by $10 or so.
Your trailer hitch was installed successfully and has worked well with my Thule bike rack for two. Thanks for the great product!
The hitch was poorly package and as a result it was bent when it arrived. Also the wrong hardware was sent and it took a whole week for etrailer to get the correct hardware to me. That is unacceptable in my opinion.

Oh I am sorry about that. So, it looks like our customer service department is sending out the correct hardware in it's place. Once you receive the correct hardware, I would love to hear your updated feedback.
The hitch fit my RAV4 and works as advertised, but my son had a little more trouble with the installation than expected. Fortunately, a video helped him get the job done, and he was able to add his bike rack to the hitch. It does what he needed, and the price was reasonable.

Hitch is still great for mounting a bike rack. We are very satisfied with the product.
I should have believed the reviews. Would have thought you did and would have done better. The box had so many holes tears and repairs yet the product was still hanging out of box getting scratched on my concrete porch. Let’s hope it’s not bent and installs ok. You could spend a couple dollars on the spray foam in bags that would keep product in the box and from flailing around. I’m sure the delivery people get so frustrated that they don’t care either because you don’t care. It doesn’t have to be an awkward package. Do better!

I am sorry to hear that the hitch arrived this way. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. We recommend touching up the hitch with a rust resistant pain like Rustoleum. We can send out a paint kit to you.
I was very surprised at how professionally manufactured this trailer hitch was for the price. I have never installed a trailer hitch before and it only took me about 30 minutes. I did use a floor jack to help me since I was doing it by myself you do not need to drop the muffler, if you’re worried about scratching the pipes, just put some tape on them but the trailer hitch will fit. I highly recommend etrailer because their product is very good and very reasonable.
It went right on. I did get help from my son. We did lower the exhaust but that was easy, Nothingbneeded to be cut or modified. The hardest part was removing the stickers covering the bolt holes since I had just trimmed my fingernails. Itvwould have nicer if Toyota had the same thread for all 4 bolts.the smaller diameter bolts go forward.
The packaging takes a beating during shipping but nothing was lost or damaged.
The hitch receivers arrived promptly and in good condition! And the price was great, too.
Fit like a glove on a 2024 Toyota Rav4 XLE! Super easy to install! Thank you folks for the fast shipping and the online video! :)
Arrived with damage to box, but hitch receiver was undamaged. Receiver (the part you see after installation) was securely wrapped with bubble wrap and tape. 30 minute install by my mechanic on my Rav4.
installed just like the video. no problems. Also no problems developed with foot kick feature as was warned as possible.
If I were to do over again I would get the Cat. III hitch simply based on what is available for the 2" receiver vs. the 1 1/4".
I put the Class II hitch on my 2024Rav4 Hybrid. I didn't drop the muffler but I see why it makes it easier. I wiggled things in place, hydraulic jack to finalized position. Bolted in real clean. Wiring is next. My last product, class III on a ford Edge had no issues over 5 years of time.
My hitch arrived 2 days early. It was well package and has all the correct parts. It fits my rav4 perfectly. Definitely a good place to buy.
The hitch was well made and fit perfectly on the RAV4. We did the installation ourselves which took about an hour. We made the installation a little harder due to not jacking up the vehicle, it was a bit cramped
Had this a year. Easy to install on my RAV4 Prime and to take the bike rack on and off the hitch. Would definitely recommend it.
The etrailer site was easy to use. I especially appreciate their informative videos. My trailer hitch fit and has been great.
The Curt trailer hitch receiver arrived on the day it was supposed to. All the parts and instructions included. It looks well made and fit the vehicle with a minimal fuss. I had the unit installed in about an hour. Your installation video clearly explained the process and was very helpful. The only issue was the box was roughed up in transit and arrived with part of the square receiver tube sticking out of the box. A small amount of the powder coat finish was knocked off. Fortunately that will be out of sight under the vehicle.

One year later, still solidly installed and functioning.
