  • CURT

Quickly and easily install a 7-way, RV-style trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. Connector plugs directly into OEM tow package port - no cutting, splicing or tapping required.

Features:

  • Provides a 7-way, blade-style trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights
    • Designed for use with a factory tow package
  • Connects quickly and easily - no cutting or splicing of wires
    • Locate connection point along frame rail
    • Plug in connector
  • Includes relays required to activate functions
  • Comes with protective cover for 7-way connector
  • Limited 1-year warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your factory tow package wiring harness, which is located beneath the rear of your vehicle, along the driver's-side frame rail. Before connecting the 7-way itself, plug the included harness with relays into the 12-pin connector at the front of your vehicle. To access this connector, you will have to remove the passenger's-side sill plate and kick panel.

Once installation is complete, the 7-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 7-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

+12V and trailer brake connections were reversed in the cable connection. I needed to swap them to work on my 2017 Nissan Frontier. After that it worked okay with no problems.

by:

Super easy 7 way to install. All the components just plug in and there is no wiring required. My trailer lights work great!

by:
2015 Nissan Frontier

Shipped quickly and arrived intact.

This
wiring harness was very easy to install.

Tips:
1: Remove your spare tire before installing this harness. You will have much more room to work under the bed.
2: The safest and most secure way to mount the 7 way connector is by drilling a 2" hole in the bumper to the left of the license plate. This keeps the connector protected from below by the step bumper.

by:

Easiest trailer plug I ever installed. Still working well after a year.

by:
2014 Nissan Xterra

Excellent kit that makes install a breeze. "Plug and Play". I knocked off a star for 1 issue: the old Curt kit (bought this exact Nissan Xterra kit a decade ago) had a rubber gasket around the 7 way connector flip-cap. New one does not have a gasket. Time will tell how this new kit works on my newer model year xterra...I'd expect that mud and water from off roading will bugger up the 7 way pins.

2016 Nissan Frontier

I had bought a Nissan Frontier which had a hitch and 4 plug wiring. When I hitched up my trailer I had brake and blinkers but no running lights. It was no big deal as I run it during the day. Well I got caught in a nasty rain storm and had no running lights and did some research to figure out why I had no running lights. Make a long story short the person or dealer who rigged up the lights never did the correct wiring. This kit is simple and does all the wiring for you as it is truly plug and play! The only thing they could add to the kit is two #14 sheet metal screws only because there are the holes in the bumper for the plate to attach the plug. Other then that the kits is good as gold!

by:
2012 Nissan Pathfinder

My 2006 Pathfinder had a towing breaker box under the hood so i didn't need the 12 pin connector harness and the instructions did not cover that. Thank goodness for Google! Also some kind of bracket choice would have been nice but i was able to fab my own. Other than that this is a great kit that I'm sure is designed to cover a couple generations.

by:
2014 Nissan Xterra

Great product! Went together as described in youtube video. Only problem I have is the provided zip ties were not long enough to wrap around the tube steel of the hitch. I had to attach 2 together to get the length needed. The ties are also very thin. I will probably re-tie later with longer thicker ties.

by:
2014 Nissan Frontier

Excellent customer service. They help find the correct harness for my truck and it installed very easily

by:
2010 Nissan Xterra

I had to buy all theses harnesses for my 2010 Nissan Xterra about 7 years ago. The elements finally got the better of them. They were easy to replace.

Super easy install, no mount bracket included, decided it would be more protected mounted in the step-bumper

This is well made, excellent product

2019 Nissan Frontier

Super easy to plug right in. Worked like a charm and takes all of 10 min to hook it all up.

by:

Great products from a fantastic company. The trailer harness and mounting bracket fit perfectly. Hooked up to our trailer and everything worked as it should. Order received on time. I will be ordering a brake controller very soon. Thanks

Works well. Looks like OEM equipment

Everything is still hooked and working.

2016 Nissan Frontier

I have a 2016 Nissan Frontier that I bought used in November 2017. In February 2018, the first time I towed my trailer, I found out the trailer lights didn't work. After trying just about everything, I bought the C56226 wire harness from etrailer. Today, 17 May 2020, my son and I removed the factory installed harness and installed the new one from etrailer. In doing so, we discovered Nissan only installed one blue relay and one brown relay...the other blue relay was never installed! My trailer lights were never going to work! Thanks to etrailer my truck is now the way it should have been the day it rolled off the assembly line...all three relays are installed and my trailer tail lights now work.

Great! One year later and my trailer lights work perfectly.

2019 Nissan Frontier

Great price, great product, and fast sh ipping.

by:

I would be more likely to order again from etrailer if I did not receive so many emails for surveys and pats on the back. I received the first survey request before the item arrived and the second just minutes after. Have not even had time to begin to install items. It feels almost like harassment. I can usually find what I need here but get irritated with constant emails. Probably would rate higher but won’t get to installation for a couple of days and then the products need to prove themselves before a rating can be valid, unless all I’m rating is the delivery. It came as advertised, thought not fast.

by:
2012 Nissan Xterra

Fast shipping and all connections were easy with the instructions. Had the Nissan issue with the swapped blue and black wires but still a easy job

by:
2006 Nissan Xterra

I was desperate to find a trailer hitch for my Nissan Xterra, due to a last minute change of plans to bring my son home from college.
I found etrailer and they saved the day!
Great price, in stock so I placed my order. It arrived in a day or 2, with no extra charges. It was truly a custom fit for my vehicle with everything needed to hook up and connect to my truck, and was on in no time. Heavy duty/solid construction, a quality piece.
I have made use of the hitch many times, with out any problems!
Very happy with etrailer and I have already recommended them to others.

by:

Great controller ,, easy to set up and with the on line instructions everything went smooth .. only issue is after you set it up check the trailer connector as the MANUFACTURE SWITCHED THE BRAKE WIRES and I had to switch them back .. it locked up the trailer brakes ...Just use the trailer connector tool to make sure everything is good before you go.

by:
Nissan Xterra

Finally got time to install the hitch on my '14 Xterra. I found that I did not have to loosen the exhaust. I did it my myself in my garage and it took about an hour. After you wiggle it around and get the first bolt in the rest go in easy. Then all one must do is torque the bolts and you are "golden." I also am installing the 7 pin wiring harness. The Xterra is already wired for towing. It is mostly a plug and play. The only thing I did different was to cut a hole in the bumper and make it permanent and better looking. Will pick up my new teardrop trailer in a couple of months. Everything will be ready to go by then.

by:
2012 Nissan Pathfinder

Still works after a year but I did have a problem with installation on my 2012 Nissan Pathfinder because the Electrical Brake and Power Cables where reversed. Had to switch those two wires because before I did that I could not pull the trailer. The electrical brakes were always engaged.

by:

Good installation instructions. Installed in less time than estimated. All parts went together smoothly. I am very satisfied.

  • Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller on 2023 Nissan Frontier
Installing a brake controller on your 2023 Nissan Frontier will require a 7-way along with the brake controller itself. Since you do not have the factory trailer connector you will need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56226. This plugs directly into the OEM tow package port at the rear of your vehicle. For a brake controller, I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR. The main unit installs out of sight so only the control knob will be visible in the cab of your...

The relays for the Curt # C56225 on your 2017 Nissan Frontier are the same as the ones that come with the Curt 7-Way # C56226. Since you already have the 7-way functionality from the relays that came with your 4-way you will be able to install and use the Hopkins # HM43534 without the need for additional parts.

To add a 7-way to your 2011 Nissan Pathfinder, all you need to do is add the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way Trailer Connector # C56226. This will replace your 4-way and give you the 7-way you need to tow your camper with electric brakes. You'll then be able to use a brake controller like the Curt TriFlex NEXT # C24VV with Wiring Adapter # C51382.

Towing a trailer with brakes will require adding a 7-way along with a brake controller. Since you were already looking at 4-way wiring I'm assuming there is no factory trailer connector on his 2023 Nissan Frontier. All you will need to add a 7-way is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56226. The brakes and the lights aren't tied to the same wires but the 7-way will take care of powering all your lights along with sending power to the brakes. For a brake controller, I recommend...

You are correct, James. The only aftermarket wiring options for the 20111 Nissan Pathfinder are for vehicles without the factory trailer connector. So, you can use the Curt T-Connector # C56226 for your pathfinder, but as you said, this will bypass the current OEM tow package wiring. You should already have the necessary relays installed, so you would just use the 7-way portion of the harness.
