Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Wiring harness was exactly what I needed and arrived in just a few days. The info available on etrailer’s website enabled me to discover that my 2016 Equinox came from the factory with a connector hidden in the compartment below the floor of the cargo area. Without learning about that, I’d’ve wasted a lot of time connecting the wiring through the taillight! Thanks, etrailer!

2017 Chevrolet Equinox

I needed this light harness connector so I could pull a trailer with my car and after talking with 3-4 other so called dealers and or parts suppliers I finally found etrailer.com and after explaining what I needed they quickly found the part I needed. I was hoping to get it quicker but I didn't realize they were sending it through the postal system and that's why it took a little longer. If I would have thought to ask I probably could have had it sent quicker using FedEx or UPS. Totally happy with the purchase and the product works just like it should.

2016 Chevrolet Equinox

I searched the internet to put a hitch on my 2016 Chevy Equinox and found an instructional video from eTrailer.com where they installed on my exact car. I decided to go with eTrailer.com because they answered all my questions and because of the video-I support businesses that go the extra mile with these videos.

Shipping was quick and well tracked, however, the box was flimsy and the one end of the hitch had come out of the box side and the ball mount could have easily come out of that hole during shipping. If I were eTrailer.com I'd charge an extra couple of bucks for more sturdy boxes-people will still buy as eTrailer is a well-trusted brand and this would overcome a lot of the negative reviews you'll see on their site about this shipping issue in their own reviews :-)

I installed the hitch by myself (definitely recommend help as two people holding it up to the frame makes attaching 100% easier) in about 45 minutes total (out of the box, read instructions, review video again and installation complete). All hardware went on with no issues.

Great quality hitch! I also bought the lesser expensive wiring assembly because most recent equinox's come hitch ready with pre-wired assembly in the left side compartment-snap and done.

Picked up a new trailer at Home Depot within days and drove 5 feet and the clacking was horrible. I had always had a welded hitch before buying a hitch that took a ball mount. I really thought something was wrong and when I searched the internet that night it turns out this is very common. However, all you need is some sort of hitch "silencing" device. The number of options will drive you mad but I went with the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch and it did the trick for much less than most of the other options. If I were eTrailer.com I'd have that as one of the RECOMMENDED add-ons and explanation why its super-worthy when customers are buying a hitch. Would have saved me the time and hassle of dealing with it later and the extra shipping charge for buying after the fact when I got free shipping for the other items the first time :-)

All in all, I'm super, super happy with my hitch, wiring assembly, ball mount, ball mount locking pin and the hitch silencer.

Buy with confidence from eTrailer.com

2014 GMC Terrain

I purchased a Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver & Vehicle Wiring Harness for a 2014 GMC Terrain. Etrailer emailed me when they received the order, again the next day when they shipped it and then when it arrived at my location. The instructions for installing the hitch & wiring harness were very good along with the videos on their web site. I was able to complete the installation by myself in about 1 hour. I was very pleased with the price & service that etrailer provided.

2015 Chevrolet Equinox

Installed on a 2015 Equinox. Instructions with pictures helped. I cringed at the effort to remove the scuff panel and when pulling out on the lower trim panel to gain access to the trailer connector. However, was successful with no cracked parts.

My issue with the instructions was what to do with 4-pin trailer connector after it was plugged. Instructions said leave it in the cargo area in a convenient out of the way place. Not an option as didn't want it in the cargo area.

The above was solved when I located a plastic plug on the drivers side. Drilled a hole and put a 3/8" rubber grommet in it. Then cut the wires maybe a foot from the Equinox plug. Then split the wires and fed each of the four individually through the grommet and reconnected with butt connectors.

As wires are a few inches from the muffler taped them and put a split black wiring protector around them. For good measure taped the wire protector as shown in the picture. Will spray the plastic plug area to ensure no water seeps in to the spare tire pit.

This put the plug underneath the vehicle and allowed attachment to the hitch. Wires were secured with 11" inch wire ties to the trailer hitch cross bar.

eTrailer was very professional when I ordered the wiring, Draw-Tite hitch and Curt Easy Mount Bracket. Their Web site was great with the installation videos for other products.

However, I could only find a video review on this product. All told, was probably an easier installation than the alternative kit which required removing both taillights.

THIS WIRING HARNESS CONNECTED TO AN EXISTING PLUG ON THE LEFT REAR OF MY 2016 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. I DID NOT HAVE THE TRAILER TOWING PACKAGE, SO IF ARE ADDING A HITCH TO YOUR EQUINOX, YOU MAY NOT NEED THE "T" WIRING HARNESS THAT CONNECTS TO THE TAIL LAMP PLUGS ON EACH SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. CHECK THE LEFT REAR AND SEE IF YOU HAVE A EMPTY CONNECTOR WITH WHITE,GREEN, YELLOW AND BROWN WIRES. SIMPLE PLUG-IN AND YOUR DONE. IF YOU KNOW SOMEBODY WITH SMALL HANDS, THERE IS A ACCESS OPENING REACHABLE WHEN THE SPARE TIRE COVER IS REMOVED. REACH IN AND CONNECT IT, TAKES ABOUT 5 SECONDS. WORKS PERFECT.

The Product I order was the second one that I had order from e-trailer. It arrived on time and in great shape. I installed it per the information video on the website. It took all of 10 minutes to install and it works great. I am very satisfied with my dealing with this company and have already recommended it to several members of family and friends.

Check to make sure your Equinox / Terrain has the factory ready towing package wiring connection in the driver's side rear. I have a 2014 LT2 and my friend just bought a 2015 LT1. They both have factory tow ready wiring connection. This makes me wonder if all these vehicles come this way now and there is no need to buy a true "T connector" when you have to remove the rear panels and two rear lights to install. If you have the factory wiring connection, get the Curt C56210 wiring harness, which is really simple to install. You don't have to remove any panels as the printed instructions say. I only wish that eTrailer would make one of their excellent instructional videos to show how simple it is to install and to possibly recommend a permanently location to install the harness outside of the vehicle near the hitch then laying it through the rear hatch when needed, as the instructions recommend.

Awesome can take my dirt bikes out and the trailer lights work

by:

I received the wiring harness for my Equinox on time and in good shape. The web site information made it easy to make sure I had the right harness for my vehicle. In my case it was an easy plug-in style and I chose to leave the harness access from inside my vehicle, but there were good instructions on how to install it at or near the hitch.

I would gladly buy from etrailer again.

by:

Plugged right into the factory harness location and works as expected. I wish the rubber cap tether would stay near the connector instead of sliding up and down or falling off the harness. Doesn't use the factory routing through the floor pan or have a mounting bracket, so you have to pinch it in the rear hatch when in use. Otherwise, punch out the factory plug, find and install a grommet, and make a bracket to mount the connector like the OEM piece. But it is 5x cheaper than OEM and does basically the same job.

Very good and well made products

2016 Chevrolet Equinox

I own a 2016 Chevy Equinox LT and read the reviews that others wrote on this site. I found the wiring plug in the lower left rear corner of the vehicle by simply removing the floor cover over the spare tire. I did not have to remove the scuff panel on the side, all I had to do was reach down and rotate the connector so that I could simply plug in the adapter. It was that easy. The adapter works great and the trailer lights are bright. This was the easiest and quickest vehicle I have ever wired for a trailer and this product made it possible. My vehicle was not special ordered with the trailer wiring, the plug was there and the fuses were all ready in the fuse panel. It works for me!

2011 Chevrolet Equinox

My hitch installed exactly as stated in the video I watched before I
ordered the product. The video for the Curt wiring harness for factory
tow package on my 2011 Chevrolet Equinox was also very helpful.
I would recommend your products to any one who is in the market
for a quality hitch at a reasonable price.

2016 GMC Terrain

Just installed the MaxxTow (MT70033) Trailer Hitch on my 2016 GMC Terrain. It was a perfect fit and was easy to install (as shown on the video). Great for any DIY. I didn't have a lift so I just jacked the back of the vehicle up a little bit. The only problem I had was getting the wire fish tape (was a little to limber and it kept folding up in the bumper) thru the bumper so we took a long wire tie and but thru first, then taped the wire fish and pulled it thru. Everything else went together just as described! I would recommend this product to any do it yourselfer to save on installation cost.

by:
2017 GMC Terrain

The fit was great. They even sent a wire snake.
Took about 20 minutes to install after I cleaned the threaded holes. I did get the wiring harness that made an easy install.

by:

Fitment was tight but right on and the wiring harness too 1 minute to hook up.

2014 GMC Terrain

I've used etrailer a few times in the past. This is a first rate company and I would recommend this company to anyone. Always quick shipping/and top quality parts. This review is for the DrawTite hitch and wire harness for the 2014 GMC Terrain. Hitch fits perfect just like factory and the wire harness plugs in to available harness. Took 30 seconds to hook the wiring up, and about 30 mins to install and torque the hitch. Great product, Great company.

  • Which Trailer Wiring Harness Fits 2016 Chevy Equinox
