Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

It works fine, no problems with the boat trailer.

Product works great. Support and installation videos are why I keep coming back to etrailer

I purchased the tow hitch and wiring harness for my 2007 Toyota Sienna. So much cheaper than my local Toyota dealership. Shipping was very fast. Now for the product, it bolted up very nicely and fits perfectly. I purchased for my 2007 Toyota Sienna to haul some landscaping products on my 5 x 8 trailer. Great product and great price! Very satisfied

Haven't tested it yet but the install was easy on my 2009 Sienna Limited

2006 Toyota Sienna

This wiring kit does fit my 2006 Toyota Sienna. Once panels are removed to gain access to tail lights and rear seat storage area, the harness does connect easily. Just remember to route wires underneath the jack storage cover, not through it. Then attach the ground wire to a drilled location inside the jack storage area. Test to be sure harness is wired correctly, then re install the panels.

I recieved the new curt hitch quickly
and my plug in wiring harness wich is the way to go no splicing wires just plug it in . my installation was for a 2007 toyota sienna. The directions say to lower the exhaust you do not have to lower it. You can push it over to the side those rubber mounts flex enough to get the bolts in. If your van is not new the bolt holes will be rusty go to a hardware store buy a tap the correct size tap is. 12mm×1.25 run the tap in all the holes before installing the bolts if you do not do this it makes very hard to install the bolts this will save you time.use oil on your bolts or antisieze, this will help them thread into the holes easier.have a friend help it makes things easieasier.it took about an hour for my installation.

I installed the wiring harness for my 07 toyota sienna its been great . The curt hitch I bought has been great I use my sienna like a truck .

Very simple installation and the video made it even easier with some good pointers.
Especially nice that it is truly just unplug factory connectors and plug in the appropriate wiring harness connectors.
If you don't have an electrical tester or you want a simple tester for this 4-pole Flat Trailer Connector, recommend purchasing Item #I26 Curt LED 4-Way Flat Connector (Vehicle End) Tester at the same time. ~$5 and lets you walk away knowing installation is completed correctly.

Wow! Thanks for following up. All are working great.

by:
2006 Toyota Sienna

Received the wiring harness on time and it is exactly as described.
The instructions were easy to follow and made the installation a snap. The fact that all the wires are long enough to hide the converter and the 4 prong plug in the jack compartment makes this a very clean install. This is a great product at a reasonable price, and I would recommend it to anyone.

easy installation, and worked without splicing wires or altering original harnesses.

Shipping was fast and it worked as described in your videos. Installed in about an hour, but could do it much faster now that I have done it once. Only problem encountered was the result of not following instructions.

I recommend etrailer and would use them again.

Works when I need it. Haven’t used it much. Really liked that no cutting and splicing was needed.

Installation was easy, quality was excellent. In order to pass the trailer connector through to the outside of the van I made a cut one of the rubber body plugs and passed the connector through that.

Thanks for the email. Both the hitch and wiring are performing great, Im totally satisfied with both.

by:
2004 Toyota Sienna

The Curt T-Connector was very simple to install. It does just what I need. I didn't need to do any drilling as I ran the wires from the passenger side and keep them stowed in behind the jack compartment door and just run them out through the door and then the lift gate for use. Great product.

My hitch wire harness is wired incorrectly. When you turn your turn signal left, it turns the right turn light on and vice versa.

by:

This hitch fit perfectly. While you do not have to lift the back end of the vehicle, lifting it 12-18" off the ground makes installation that much more simple. It is key to clean out the mounting holes in the vehicle frame, the cleaner the holes the easier the installation.

I have a Curt trailer hitch on my 2004 Toyota Sienna, which I am extremely pleased with. I have been using the hitch exclusively for mounting a Yakima bike rack... until recently. I acquired a utility trailer and, in California, the trailer must have functioning lights.

I decided to go with a Curt wiring harness for 2 specific reasons: 1) Curt seems to have an excellent reputation (and as said earlier I am extremely pleased with my Curt trailer hitch) and 2) the harness used connectors to the vehicle wiring versus splicing into the vehicle wiring (which I did NOT want). I opted to purchase thru etrailer.com because of their reputation according to my Google searches.

As for the wiring harness, I am again extremely pleased... the product worked perfectly (should you expect anything less?). Installation time was about 1&1/2 hours... but I was very careful taking things apart, triple checked everything during installation, taped the wiring in place where I felt appropriate, and carefully reassembled things. If you did these for a living or are far less picky than me, I can see maybe 30-ish minutes. As for the Curt website claim of 10 minutes installation time... hmmm.

The only minor disappointment was that every(?) visual of this harness that I saw on the web showed a wiring diagram on the control module. Even the instructions received with the harness included a picture with a wiring diagram on the module. Mine had none. A small issue I know, and its not really needed. But... I prefer to receive what I'm being shown I will receive.

Lastly, I must make a comment about the great service I received from etrailer.com... and particularly from Cathy H. When I placed the order I neglected to select expedited delivery... I wanted to be able to use the trailer ready that coming weekend. I called etrailer.com maybe 5 minutes after I hit submit and explained the situation. Cathy was extremely gracious, understood my predicament, cancelled the order I placed and submitted a new order on my behalf. Because of this service I received the order in time to install the harness and thus use the trailer on Saturday. Thank your etrailer.com and THANK YOU Cathy... for your awesome Customer support and service.

Great trailer, especially for a family with a minivan. Tows wonderfully, barely notice with our 200000+ Sienna. Tracks perfectly as well. Got the removable tongue which helps immensely with storage in the garage. Fairly simple to put together, just need a good set of wrenches and/or socket set. Only problem has been with wiring. Am blowing out the taillight fuse. Will try to rewire, probably insufficient grounding. Just remove the taillight fuse when towing and tow in daylight.

Hitch went on like a charm and the lights harness was perfect. Good purchase and good results.

Thanks, theyre still working great!

by:
2004 Toyota Sienna

I put this on a 2004 Sienna. I got a 12m-1.25 tap from napa and cleaned all the threads under the car. The hitch receiver lined up on 4 of the 6 bolts, the front hole on each side did not line up. , after calling etrailer and them saying it needs to bend the arms on each side outward. As 3 of the 4 recent reviews of this hitch for the Sienna all said they needed to bend the arms outward, apparently they are coming out of the factory with the arms an inch and a half too close together. Once I bent mine out it went on in ten minutes. and works good. I chose this Draw Tite hitch over the Curt because of the higher weight rating, which exceeds vehicle tow rating. I also
ordered the quick fit wiring harness which installed easily.

2004 Toyota Sienna. PERFECT FIT! So was the electrical harness! Amazing! A product that matches the claim. The whole shebang arrived in a couple of days in mint condition. Several notes on my installation. Use ramps to get a comfortable look at the bottom of the vehicle. Then, make sure you soak the frame threads with Liquid Wrench or equivalent for several hours before installation and have a small plumbing type wire brush to ream out the threads THOROUGHLY. My van is 10 yrs old and there was a lot of crud so I hit the threads several times over two days as I waited for some spare time to install. Despite the Liquid Wrench soaking I had to use a breaker bar to spin the bolt the first time and had to clean the gunk from the threads several times. PB Blaster might be a better solution. And hire a helper if you don't have a floor jack to hold up the hitch. The exhaust just pushes out of the way with a block of wood. Twist one of the bolts into each hole to really clean the threads before you even touch the hitch. Use the same one for each hole in case you damage it. After that it was simple. Then, instead of running the flat four harness out the rear hatch I ran it through a rubber grommet that lies in the bottom of the 3rd row seat stowage well. The flat wire will lie under the carpet, out of sight, and fits past the grommet without any cutting of the rubber and exits directly above the receiver. I just weatherized it with window caulk and then strapped the wire onto the metal with liquid nails. A couple of cable ties hold the flat wire onto the round bar. Nice look. Note to e-harness - include longer black cable ties for securing harness to receiver tube.

This was an easy installation. The video for it on etrailer.com was very helpful. If you choose to run the trailer connector out through the grommet to mount by the hitch, it'll be pretty close to the exhaust. In the end, I drilled a couple of small holes through the underside of the plastic part of the bumper to facilitate attaching the wires out of the way of the tailpipe.

  • Difference between Tekonsha T-One and Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness for 2007 Toyota Sienna
The Tekonsha T-One # 118304 and Curt T-Connector # C55580 Vehicle Wiring Harnesses are very similar. These are both custom fit wiring harnesses that include a tail light converter, which is required for your 2007 Toyota Sienna because the brake and turn signal wires on this vehicle are separate. The converter is needed to combine the two functions to be compatible with the trailer wiring system. The Curt # C55580 does have higher maximum amperage for the stop/turn and tail lights and is...

  • What is Amperage Rating Per Stoplight/Blinker Circuit of Curt Trailer Wiring Harness # C55580
Yes the stop/turn circuit amperage rating for the Curt trailer wiring kit part # C55580 is per side of the trailer. So it is rated for 3 amps for the left stop/turn circuit and 3 amps for the right stop/turn. This is because the blinker and stop circuit is on same wire. So to look at it as just the stop light circuit you could say it's rated for 6 amps since that's both assemblies at the same time. Then for the running lights circuit it's rated for 5 amps total.
