Once installation is complete, the 7-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 7-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Etrailer.com did a great job for me. I was trying to find a replacement for the 7-way bumper trailer outlet for my 2002 Ford F250. The first outlet would have fit, but there was damage in the last foot of the factory wiring harness I had to connect to. After several emails with Julie H. in customer service, Etrailer did the research necessary to find an alternate outlet that had the correct factory harness plug and provided new wiring back the the rail of the truck bed. Now Ive mounted this one on the tailgate post instead of the bumper which will protect it from the damage that ruined the original. Thank you again Julie!

Works as described. Amazingly simple installation. Still completely satisfied.

2000 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

These harnesses are great have had a hard time finding ones with factory ends on them. These guys had just what i was looking for piece of cake to install just route wires mount and plug in very clean install

by:

I seems that the wire routing does not match regular 7 connector plugs. The harness plugs right into my Excursion, but the wires will have to be modified to work with my trailers. I noticed this when I went to test the plug with a standard plug tester and got ZERO lights. Yes there is power to the plug, and it has ALL the signals, just out of order...

The seven-way connector should match the trailer seven-way connectors. I have a few questions that I would like to ask. Did your 2002 Ford Excursion come with the factory tow package? Were you able to find the trailer tow electric brake and the trailer tow battery charge fuse locations and added the 30-amp maxi-fuses?

Yes, the Excursion had the tow package. And, it it NOT that the trailer brakes that is and issue, it that the trailer lights , brakes and signals that do not function. There IS power coming INTO the plug, but the wires are in the WRONG order. So, if you plug in a 7 wire plug tester , it will not show power on the correct lines. What I am saying, is the plug is wired WRONG at the factory. I have seen this before. I replaced a made in Mexico trailer whip. Matched all the colors, and nothing worked right. I had to rewire to the functions, and not the colors. Yes, it seems odd and strange, but this I have seen before. I do realize it should be a plug and play, but it is not in this case.

1999 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

There were not many options available for what I was lookin king for. Older vehicle and looking for a plug and play plug. Included was a harness (which will plug into the newer style plug) and the relays + fuses (which I did not need). There was not a mount and the plugs base had a different layout of holes than my existing mount. This product should work and is what was described but not exactly what I needed.

Easy to install truck wiring harness. Plug and play and done. Strong springs on the harness plug door that hold the trailer plug in very well too.

very helpful finding the correct for my 20 year old truck

by:

I purchased the Curt Triflex C51440 controller, C51322 adapter, and C55243 wiring harness together to correct the hacked up wiring that was on my 2000 F250SD after having intermittent brake issues on my 18' trailer. Due to the slipshod nature of the wiring that was on the truck, I felt it wise to start fresh. After cutting out all of the spliced in mess, installing the Triflex unit was extremely simple and made for a clean install. The C55243 harness was a simple plug and play. Keep in mind the harness does not include a bracket to mount the 7 way plug to the bumper (I already had one, you may not). The most difficult part of the install (after removing the old stuff) was finding the auxiliary distribution block to install the relays in. This varies by year, make, model and a little searching on the Google resulted in a few helpful photos/diagrams. The products seem to be good quality, shipping was prompt, and I received a follow up email from etrailer to confirm that my product had arrived and my needs had been met. Very impressed to this point. I have not towed with the setup yet, but the brake controller indicator display indicates everything is functioning correctly.

Removed old plug unit from back bumper, replacement unit fit to exact existing screw holes. Harness was just an unplug and plug in for the new unit.
Took me less than 30 min to replace the old 7-pin plug. I regret not getting the 4-pin plug in option that was available,, factory wired in with the Harness

by:
2001 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Replaced a wore out and cut and spliced older connection with this new plug and play one. As usual etrailer hooked me up with exactly what I needed. From the pictures you can see the old one with a wiring nest and the new one looking good and doing good. The new one plugged right in and with the exception of having to use a couple of the old mounting bolts it looks perfect. I’m really happy with this purchase as I have been with my other etrailer purchases.

I ordered a new wire harness and electric brake controller from trailer and was extremely pleased with the product and the level of service I received. I ordered it on a Sunday regular mail and hot an email 2 days later letting me know they upgraded mail delivery from 5 to 7 days to 5 day delivery no charge. I have 2 horse trailer's and have lots of friends who have the same and have recommend this site. I am also impressed with the wire diagram's and videos.keep it up guys your doing awesome.

It worked perfect and was exactly what i needed.
No issues with connections.

The Wiring Harness that you sent to me is of great quality. Actually better than OEM. The wires are of a heavier gauge, and the plug fits like a charm. Everything works as it should with no issues what so ever. Thanks for having a great product.

1999 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Great product. Would have liked some extra slack aside from what came with. I cut and put junction box under box on frame. Feeding gooseneck, headache rack, and bumper 7/4 way. Works as described.

by:
2000 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Received my new brake 7-way plug and harness in 2-days. Kit came with (2) 30 amp fuses and (2) relays which I did not expect. Very pleased with etrailer. I needed and anode for my 5TH wheel and did not realize they stock this item as well. I will use etrailer again in the future!!!

by:

I was a bit disappointed that in your description it says 7pin with 4pin, so I was expecting the 7pin fixed base with a 4pin flexible connector with it. I would have returned it if the shipping would have been cheaper.

by:

Works great! However, it does NOT include the bracket if you need to mount it to your drop down hitch, unlike a few of the other brands out there.

by:
2003 Ford F-250 Super Duty

just like in the picture, even though it was not listed for my 2003 f250 had to take a chance, the ones listed for my truck had a round pig tail connector that would not have worked, took a while to get it due to not having my complete order, very good product, the fuses and relays didn't need my truck was already set up,

Thank all of you from customer service to delivery. Quality products, quality service, and the prices were great. Ford wanted twice the price for the T-connector and over $60 for a $4 bracket. I'll be sure to order from your site in the future. Thanks!

  • Recommended Wiring Harness for 7-Way on 2004 Ford F-250
I reached out to Curt and they said they do not have anything like that to fit anything past 2001 due to wire patents. So to get your 7-way, you will need to first get your 4-way connector. If you have the factory 4 way option, then you can use # C55265. If you don't have the factory wiring harness you will need # 18252. Once you have the 4-way flat, you can then use # ETBC7 to get the wiring connections, and circuit breakers for 7-way connection. If you want to add a brake controller...

  • Installing A 7-Way On A 2003 Ford F-350 Super Duty
Hey Edward, The factory connector for a 2003 Ford F-350 7-way socket should be round so it's likely that you're looking at a different wire harness. Could you send me some pictures and I can take a look? It's also possible that your F-350 wasn't setup with a factory wire harness and you'll instead need to first install a 4-pole connector # C56032 and then install a hardwired 7-way socket # ETBC7 instead of the factory harness plug-in version # C55774 that you ordered.
