Note: All RockerBall hitch balls will sit 1-1/2" higher than a standard hitch ball due to their shock absorbing base.

The mounting platform on your ball mount must be at least 3/8" thick and the hole size must not be more than 1/16" larger in diameter than the ball's threaded shank.

Not to be used with a cushioned ball mount.

Towing can be brutal, especially when your setup is outfitted with standard, metal-on-metal components. Steel and aluminum can only absorb so much vibration and chucking, so every time you hit a bump in the road, that shock gets transferred to the rest of your rig, leaving it vulnerable to wear and tear. Another unfortunate side effect is an uncomfortable ride for you and your passengers.

Protect your truck and trailer from road shock, vibrations, and rattling - and stay comfortable while you drive - with the shock-absorbing Curt RockerBall hitch ball.

Shock Absorbing ShockDrop Technology

Curt RockerBall with SockDrop Technology

The RockerBall hitch ball features Curt's innovative ShockDrop technology, which is engineered to suppress vibrations and rattling while you're towing. When you hit a bump, the ball compresses around the flexible, polyurethane core. This durable material absorbs excess shock at the coupling point so that it doesn't transfer from the truck to your trailer or vice versa. The result is increased control and comfort as you tow, as well as less wear and tear on your towing setup.

Premium Construction

Curt RockerBall Construction

This hitch ball is built to last with its forged steel construction and durable powder coat finish. The flexible, shock-absorbing polyurethane core withstands extreme heat for long-lasting performance, and the chrome-plated ball resists corrosion.

Curt RockerBall Zerk Fitting

The built-in zerk allows you to lubricate the isolator core when necessary, ensuring quiet and trouble-free operation.

I was in the market.
Looking for some
kind of dampening hitch.
But all the hitches I found We're over $300. I stumbled upon the Curt rocker ball . It was interesting to me so I had looked up some reviews on it. There wasn't any good reviews on it, but there also wasn't any bad reviews either.
So I decided to give it a shot,
Since it was pretty Inexpensive. Since then, I've had it for a year and a 1/2 now And it's been amazing.something so simple,That works very well. You won't notice it as much if the trailer already tows very well But the trailers that do a lot of jerking You will feel the difference.
A night and day difference.to me it reduced it by By 80%. Very good product!

  • Availability of Curt RockerBall Setup With Longer Shank
The only option that comes from Curt is the # C45WR with the 7-1/2" ball mount length. If you want a longer ball mount you would have to put one together. You could use the Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball # C40047 along with something like the # D-4 which is 10-1/4" long. Make sure to measure so you get the right length. Then you will need to attach the Curt Weld-On Sway Control Tab # C45822.

  • Does The Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing Hitch Ball Have More Of A Rise Compared To A Standard Ball
You are correct the Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter Shank - Chrome - 7.5K part # C40047 does have a rise. On a standard hitch ball it sits flush with the ball mount but the RockerBall has the included height of the shock absorber which makes it about 1-1/2" taller than a standard ball. This is important when choosing a ball mount. You want to choose a ball mount that has an additional 2" of drop if your ball mount is in the drop position. For example if your...

  • Can A Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Ball Mount Be Used With A Curt RockerBall?
Though the Convert-A-Ball # AMSC2 cushioned ball mount and the Curt RockerBall, like the # C40047, are very nice products and will help with chucking and vibrations, they cannot be used together. You are correct in that they will help with the same issues, but may actually end up causing more problems than counteracting them when used together. With that being said, either of these are great options, but it should be noted that the RockerBall hitch balls will sit 1-1/2" higher than a standard...

We don't have an option where it comes with both like the # C45WR, but we can still easily put this together. If your camper only has the mount you will also need the Curt Friction Sway Control # 17200.

  • Will Curt C40047 RockerBall Shock Absorbing Hitch Ball Eliminate Most Hitch Rattling
Going with the # C40047 Curt Rocker Ball will help isolate some of the clattering and banging from the surge coupler, and it will also help dampen some of the road shock you experience. What it won't do is help with the movement of the ball mount in the receiver which is pretty unavoidable. Due to manufacturing tolerances, it isn't possible to get a tight fit between the ball mount and receiver, right out of the box. If the fit was too tight the ball mount would eventually become stuck...

You could certainly use the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # AMSC4 together with the Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball # C40047. Whether it is pointless or not is dependent on what you are doing or experiencing right now. The 3,500 lb capacity Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball # C94CR (40246) does not have a softer cushion than the 7,500 lb RockerBall # C40047. The cushioning is the same and the difference between these two is the capacity, of course, as well as the shank size. The RockerBall # C94CR has a 3/4" diameter shank (so that's the size ball mount hole they fit) and the # C40047 has a 1" diameter shank. As for # C40047 and 40247, they are exactly the same.
