@Bryan Awesome. Glad to hear you are happy with your hitch. Come back anytime you need anything!

I wasn't able to find a used heavy duty hitch and rear bumper that was original that was better than I needed to replace due to rust being a 2008 truck in the northeast to haul a double axle camper. I was able to get this aftermarket hitch and an aftermarket bumper and install both in about 1/2 day. Very happy with the outcome.

by:
2010 Toyota Tundra

This hitch is a BEAST. We bought our 2010 Tundra with a class III hitch, and needed to upgrade to a Class IV to tow our Airstream. This class V hitch is overkill, but it's nice to know the back of the truck would fall off before the hitch would.

Install was fairly straightforward, though since I was replacing an aftermarket hitch, some of the hardware that Curt expected me to reuse was missing. Metric hardened steel bolts aren't readily available at the hardware store. But a quick trip to the Toyota dealership and $10 per bolt later, I was able to finish the job. The hitch mounting bracket seemed to be a tad too narrow at first, but it opened up to meet the frame as soon as I torqued to bolts to spec. The arms of the hitch ride pretty close to the shocks, but as long as everything is centered, they don't touch.

etrailer was great to work with, shipping promptly and providing a tracking number. Free shipping for this heavy of a package was a nice bonus. The packing job could have been better. The box was destroyed and the hitch was only secured together with some plastic wrap. There were quite a few scratches on the powder coat that I touched up with spray paint. Something this heavy really should have each piece wrapped individually to protect the finish. You can't really blame the shipper for the damage, considering how it was packed.

2007 Toyota Tundra

The hitch arrived one day later than indicated when I completed my order, but it's a heavy product! Installation was pretty straightforward, but I had two problems. One hole on the main part of the hitch where it joins the frame wouldn't line up and it caused me to strip one weld nut. I was able to remove that nut and replace it with a spare one I had. The biggest problem was the flange that bolts to the main hitch and further up my frame would not line up at all. I had to get a friend to help me use a come-a-long and pull it over. We did get it lined up and all the bolts in, but it was a struggle. I don't know if something in the hitch got slightly bent or damaged in shipment that caused this, but it did make the installation more difficult than it should have been. Overall, it's a great hitch and will serve as the heavy duty hitch it was advertised to be.

by:

Fitment is spot on. The hitch is definitely thick. If you're going to tow heavy, this is the one.

However, you WILL need a bumper reinforcement bar to mount your bumper IF you have the factory tow package. The factory hitch has the bumper mounting brackets integrated into it. This one does NOT and is only the hitch! I would've still chosen this one, but would have been good to know in description. All in all, it's a Great hitch for the money!

by:

The price was very attractive, the shipping was fast and free, the installation was straightforward, and this project is done!

2014 Toyota Tundra

Beefy and well engineered. I swapped a 2014 Gen 2.5 bed onto my 2008 Gen 2 Toyota Tundra, and this heavy duty hitch bolted right up. I pull a skidsteer trailer or a 17 foot camper.

Delivery was quick and smooth. My mechanic ran into an issue and I contacted Josh and he was so helpful and gave solutions to my problems. Would order from them again.

2016 Toyota Tundra

etrailer was very easy to deal with. My order was shipped promptly. The box came in a little rough, but that was to be expected from the handling by the freight company. The good thing is that etrailer had the bolts and nuts in a nice sealed bag and everything was accounted for. Installation was easy. I used the instructions that were enclosed and watched the video on the website. Both were very helpful. I will do business with etrailer again

Toyota Tundra

Bought for my '07 Tundra ext cab with the stock hitch. Required significant fabrication, per the installer it is for a utility body/bumper only. Hitch hangs down fairly far, but I am very happy with the installation work that was done and the result. Holds a heavy metal trailer with 2 cars, no issues (oem hitch had been repaired prior to my buying the truck). Just fair warning, if you do not have a utility body, it will require significant fabrication. Very heavy, solid hitch.

2008 Toyota Tundra

Worked great on my 2008 Tundra Regular Cab short bed with the sport appearance package.

The sport appearance package comes with body colored bumpers and no integral tow hitch. Mine had a 5000 lb class III dealer installed hitch.

Most Tundras come with the tow package and the integral factory hitch. The integral hitch and steel bumper are integrated together.

If you have a factory integral hitch you don't need this one.

If you don't have the factory integral hitch, and have either no hitch or a class III 5000 lb dealer installed hitch, this is a great upgrade.

My truck is also lifted and I had no problems with hitch clearing the new leaf springs and shackles.

My only minor complaint is that it uses a mix of metric and ANSI bolts. I would prefer to keep my truck all metric.

I used a 1/2 torque wrench to torque down the big bolts. It requires a big wrench and a lot of force to get up to 150 ft/lbs. So you really should use a torque wrench to get it right.

No problems after 1 year.

This “Curt” brand hitch and etrailer are equally satisfying. The decision for this hitch was a last minute thing for me, and etrailer came through in a pinch with in stock items and fast/free shipping. Locating and ordering this item was a breeze on the etrailer website. The item came packaged well with all of its included parts.
“Curt” did a fantastic job with its fit, finish, and quality control. This hitch was a direct bolt on for my application and the instructions were specific for my vehicle. I will buy more “Curt” products in the future and will always rely on etrailer for their vast product selection and above all their service to consumers. Thanks to both!

by:

The representative that assist me was more than helpful. She stopped me from buying the wrong part, and then enabled me to make sure that I could install the new part correctly! Top-notch service to say that I will refer This site is an understatement. I truly have never been more impressed with the customer service.

Got the order in one day it was wrapped in plastic half of the parts was going all the bolts and nuts gone and I restate I send it back and I received another one and the hardware was missing. What’s going on with you packing. I’m very disappointed I’d like to hitch but shipping needs to be worked on.

  • Trailer Hitch Option For A 2020 Toyota Tundra Without Factory Hitch And A Tommy Gate Installed
We do have hitches that will fit the 2020 Toyota Tundra without a factory hitch, such as the Curt Class 5 Hitch # C15398. This hitch is not made specifically for vehicles with a Tommy Gate Installed, and unfortunately at this time, there is no such hitch available. Your best bet would be to take the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 41990-16 and modify this for your exact setup. It can be cut/welded or drilled/bolted onto the frame to make work with your truck...

  • Can An Aftermarket Trailer Hitch Be Installed On a 2007 Toyota Tundra If Bumper Is Replaced
The factory trailer hitch options for a 2007 Toyota Tundra are tied into the rear bumper helping to provide extra support. This is why the factory trailer hitch cannot be replaced with an aftermarket trailer hitch as these do not tie into the bumper. However, if you were to remove the factory bumper in light of any aftermarket bumper you could then install an aftermarket hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C15398.

  • Trailer Connector for Towing Surge Coupler Equipped Trailer With 2013 Toyota Tundra
I'll begin with the assumption that your new pontoon trailer has hydraulic surge brakes. This type of braking system uses a hydraulic coupler that compresses when the tow vehicle brakes, and the compression is what causes the brakes to actuate. A trailer like this usually uses a 5 pole flat trailer connector, with the extra circuit being the reverse lock out. The reverse lock utilizes a solenoid that prevents the brakes from applying with you attempt to back the trailer. Otherwise, especially...

  • Is there a Hitch for the 2013 Toyota Tundra's that Have a Factory Hitch?
Yes, you can! We've spoken to Curt about this exact issue before and we do have a solution. The Curt Hitch item # C15398 is designed for the 2013 Toyota Tundra's that come without a factory hitch. However, it will fit the Tundra's that came with a factory hitch so long as you remove it and the bracing that attaches it to the bumper. The Curt Hitch item # C15398 is a class V hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 16,000 lbs towing capacity and a 2,400 lbs maximum tongue weight.

I reached out to Curt about removing the factory hitch on your 2011 Toyota Tundra. If you remove the factory hitch the Curt Hitch Receiver # C15398 can be installed. • Does the Curt Hitch C15398 Support the Bumper on a 2013 Toyota Tundra?
That is correct. There is nothing to support the bumper when you install the Curt Hitch item # C15398 on a 2013 Toyota Tundra. That hitch was designed for the trucks without the factory hitch so there's no reason for it to have built in support for the bumper. It'll work on the Tundra's that came with a factory hitch so long as you get everything out of the way including the factory hitch's bumper support. It is not necessary to support the bumper with an aftermarket hitch like the Curt...
