2022 AWD. This should have been a slam-dunk easy install. It wasn't. Everything was going well right up until the slots in the hitch wouldn't line up with the attachment bolts. It gave the appearance that the hitch was 'out of square' and that it needed to slide to the passenger side about 1/8". No matter how much I pried, it simply would not line up with the bolts. Then I found the culprit. There was an unused electrical plug (shown in photo, possibly the trailer wiring connector) on the driver's side attached to the body, perfectly positioned to prevent the hitch from sliding forward. This was just thick enough to prevent aligning the bolts with the holes. Very subtle... Once I snipped off the attachment pin and moved the plug out of the way, the hitch easily went in to place. All this frustration could have been prevented with another paragraph or two in the instructions. The hitch itself is excellent, the instructions, not so much.

Thanks for taking the time to snap a picture and share your experience with this install. I think youll be saving a lot of future readers a headache! What all do you plan to use the hitch for? Any new hobbies you needed it for?

Success! From searching for a hitch, to ordering, receiving, and installing etrailer made every step seamless. The install video was excellent. Detailed enough to know what expect during install. Concise enough to inspire confidence this can be done at home in the garage. Aided by the video, the hitch installed in 90 minutes.

This hitch is great. Fits my 2018 Honda CR-V perfectly, and the slight trimming of the plastic bumper cover is not visible. Use if for hauling my gravel bike, but would have no reservation about pulling an appropriate size trailer. This is the 3rd hitch I've bought for different vehicles over the years. The service at etrailer is as good as the products they sell. Highly recommend..

Great company. I've installed 5 hitches over the years from etrailer.com

Always a perfect fit, relatively easy installation thanks to their videos. This time I had a shortage of hardware and they quickly sent me another hardware kit so I could complete the job.

Thank you etrailer for your great products, helpful videos an stellar customer service.

2023 Honda CR-V

This is the third hitch I have purchased from Etrailer in the last 2 years, everything thing they do is first class from pricing to the quick shipping and the customer service but the packaging department is terrible. When you put a 40-50 lbs. hitch in a generic sized box with a little cardboard strap stapled to the side it will move around and break thru, see photos attached. When I went to install it one of the holes would not line up so I took it down and noticed that the hitch had been bent.
I would rather wait an extra day for delivery instead waiting an extra day for the paint to dry.

Unfortunately, it is very common for hitches to bend during shipment. This is because the hitch is made to flex slightly to prevent stress cracks during shipment. I have a link below for your reference.

The hitch looks great on my 2025 CRV-Hybrid. The instruction video was thorough and easy to follow. The Hybrid exhaust is a little different but I was able to still figure it out. Install took me 90 minutes and I did 95% of it on my own.

I am really glad that I purchased this Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver for my 2022 Honda CRV. I wanted it only for use with my bike rack that is intended for a class III 2" receiver. The best thing is I like how it is tucked away underneath the back of the vehicle. As you can see in the pictures here, only the receiver is visible. The rest of the hitch is nicely tucked away under the vehicle. I had it installed by a local garage that I go to for normal maintenance of our vehicles. The mechanic said it was easy to install.

Great price point, excellent build quality and easy installation

by:
2022 Honda CR-V

The hitch arrived in record time. Ordered on Friday and it arrived in 2 days. Installation was fairly simple with 2 people, but we ran into a snag as we were trying to place the hitch flanges over the bolts. The right side went on, but the left side flange holes would NOT line up with the bolts. I then discovered there was an electrical connector behind the fascia and attached to the car frame. I had to break it where it connected to the frame in order to push it up out of the way. Then the bolts were able to slide into the slots on the flange. Also, there were 2 forward exhaust hangers under the middle section of the car, not just the single one as shown in the video. But, we finally got it all done. It took about an hour.

by:

Installation went about as easy/difficult as I thought it would be. From the time I had all parts laid out next to rear of vehicle, until everything was installed and fully complete, it took roughly 1.5 hours. I have just below mechanic level skill and I could of had the install done in just under 1 hour but it took me almost 30 minutes to reattach the rubber exhaust hanger as crazy as that sounds lol. With normal tools and basic mechanical knowledge I would say 90% of people could do the install in 2 hours

One year later, and the hitch receiver is still perfect. I had a trusted neighborhood high schooler install it in autoshop at school. According to him (and his teacher who was a mechanic for 30 years) it was quite a straightforward installation.

by:

Very nice hitch and fit well but have to say the directions and the video were not correct on trimming the plastic panel under the spare tire, no reason to cut the sides as in the video on my 2024 crv exl as it is no where close to the hitch but did need to cut out more to the back of the panel.

Hitch arrived packaged well. No damage apparent. Videos of installation were very helpful. This hitch was installed on a 2022 Honda CRV Hybrid Touring. The foot control for the back hatch was lost due to the location of the hitch which I expected. There was also a wiring stand off that had to be moved. I did this install by myself and yes it would have been easier with another hand but this is the fourth hitch that I have installed, all bought from E-Trailer! Highly recommend E-Trailer and their staff! This hitch will be used for my Thule bike rack with two bikes.

by:

Great product and competitively priced! It was a little more difficult than I planned for the installation compared to the video. Didn’t notice until after I installed it, but there were two people and they were using a lift. So I consider my solo installation pretty well. After one year I’m still completely satisfied.

by:

2025 CR-V hybrid sport install is a little different than the instructions-watch the video on the website. The hitch installation is also different- there is only 1 muffler/tailpipe to deal with. Also, the trim cut out should be at least 1.5" deep.

by:

It was sold as a hitch to fit 2025 models which it did but instructions were not updated for 2023 model change. Trimming of plastic bumper cover is different for newer models.

by:
2021 Honda CR-V

I was able to install the hitch yesterday. It is very well built. The only problem is it rubbing against the gas tank on the drivers side. Had to hit it with a rubber mallet to get the bolts lined up. That is my only complaint, made the install more diffucult thought I might have to grind off a little bit.

by:

What a pleasure and efficient service provided by Etrailer. I needed a hitch for my SUV and received exactly the correct style really fast at my front door. Price was excellent!
