Video Transcript for All About the Replacement Spring Bars for Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System

Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at these Blue Ox replacement spring bars for your SwayPro weight distribution system. Now this kit is going to include the two spring bars, lift chains, and necessary hardware needed to replace your SwayPro spring bars. Now, one of the really nice things about the SwayPro system is that you can simply switch out your spring bars. So if you get a lighter trailer or a heavier trailer make sure that your a ride is gonna be nice and smooth, you can simply switch out the spring bars so that it's got the right weight capacity for you rather than having to get a whole new system.

So we do have lots of different spring bar sets that will range from tongue weight of 200 pounds up to the tongue weight of 2000 pounds. So you just need to make sure that you're getting the right set for your setups tongue weight. The bars do all look very similar. They are going to have slight thickness differences but the easiest way to tell which bar set you have, they use a dot system. So the 350 pound bars are not gonna have a dot Your 550 pound max ton weight is gonna have one dot, like we have here.

So these are our 550 pound max tongue weight. But then on that list there you can see those dots on the right side. So it goes up to five dots for your 2000 pound tongue weight rating. So just make sure you're getting the right one for your setup so that it's not gonna be too rigid and it's going to engage properly for you. All these sets are going to work with both your older locking pin style pivot tubes.

So they've got the divot there on the top, so your locking pin will grab onto that to secure these into your head unit. And they are also going to work with your newer style through pin style locking tube so that you can get that pin passed all the way through there to secure that. So whether you have the older style or the newer this will work great for you. These are made here in the USA, so you can trust they're made to the high quality standards we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US, but more than that, because they are a Blue Ox product you can trust they are gonna fit right into your SwayPro system. And you're not gonna have any issues with it.

It's just going to accommodate for either replacing spring bars that you already have or adjusting your setup for that different tongue weight. So that completes our look for today. Again I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

Excellent. Many miles on the camper this stretching from Maine to Florida and back plus additional miles here in the Northeast and Atlantic Canada.

by:

These were a great replacement for the bars I got when I purchased my new RV. The bars I had were rated for 1000 lbs and my hitch was around 650 with the camper loaded. These provided a much better ride and came very quickly.

by:

These bars are just what I needed. I have had a Blue Ox hitch with 1000 bars for awhile but bought a new trailer with a lot less tongue weight. That is why I bought 750 bars. The fact you can change bars without changing the whole hitch is a real plus. I think the Blue Ox hitch is the best hitch on the market bar none and I have had a few..

Working great.

Excellent anti-Sway towing system

by:

Reviewed multiple weight distribution hitches before choosing the Blue Ox system. Thuis is a well built system offering the flexibility to adjust to different tongue weights by swapping out trunion bars. Adjustments based on different loads and weights are not complicated and can be performed with trailer loaded. Quality materials.
eTrailer was staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant when I called, answering my questions quickly. Delivery was prompt.
Thank you.

by:

Purchased a new travel trailer which had a heavier toe weight which required bring bars with a higher weight rating. Was very happy I could purchase these bars to increase the rating of my hitching system at fraction of the cost of purchasing a complete new one. The bars fit and performed as required.

by:

Great communication from George J. at etrailer. The weight distribution bars arrived very promptly and exactly as described. Now all I have to do is put some 750 lbs. of weight on my trailer and test them. I think I will wait until tomorrow to do that! Thanks guys, nice service.

best in the business

by:

Amazingly easy & quick to order these replacement spring bars for my Blue Ox travel trailer hitch. I lost one bar due to my haste in hooking up recently.
Now I have an extra!!!

by:

Shawnee E was very patient with me. She never hurried and consulted with other etrailer employees to make sure that what I was purchasing would work with my hitch/trailer. She also assumed me that if things didnt work out I could return the product. Thanks again Shawnee for the extraordinary amount of time you offered up.

by:

Delivery is always quick. Price is always competitive.

by:

As always, Etrailer has delivered! Well packaged, great product.

by:

Excellent technical advice and rapid de livery.

by:

I ordered a pair of 750# blue ox bars and received them in just 4 days. They arrived in good shape. I had asked a question earlier about the bars and received a quick and informative reply.

by:

750 lb bars to replace the 1000lb bars I had. Tongue weight is consistently under 750 when loaded, so down-weighted accordingly.

by:

Always good to work with.

by:

Exactly what I needed for the increased tongue weight of my toy hauler. Super fast delivery from eTrailer.

by:

Received 3 days after order was placed, excellent service and puts me back on the road in less time than anticipated.

by:

Exactly what I have come to expect from etrailer, good and quick service without issues. Thank you once again.

by:

Great product. Steve Z was a big help. I ordered these on a Monday and paid for 2 day delivery. UPS scheduled it to be delivered on Wednesday but it didn’t arrive until Thursday which was disappointing.

by:

  • Are Long or Short Torsion Arms Better for a Weight Distribution System
The reason long bars on weight distribution (WD) systems, like the Strait-Line # RP66074, are so popular is because that means the clamps for the trailer frame will sit about 30" away from the coupler. Typically this avoids items that sit on the tongue, like propane tanks. Short arms are a great substitute for when things like propane tanks get in the way. There really is no advantage or disadvantage of using long or short arms other than the location of other things on the tongue of your...

With your guess of 730-lbs to 800-lbs tongue weight, I recommend the Replacement Spring Bars for Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System, Item # BXW4007, which have a tongue weight range of 750-lbs to 1,000-lbs. • Which Blue Ox Weight Distribution Hitch & Additional Arms For 3,500 lb to 6,500 lb Trailers
Hey Edward, It does make sense and a single Blue Ox weight distribution hitch isn't going to cut it, as it won't be effective with all those weights. For trailers between 3,500 lbs to 6,500 lbs you're looking at total tongue weights ranging from about 450 lbs to 850 lbs (depending on how the trailers are loaded). So what you'll need is a Blue Ox system and three different arms: - Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 5,500 lbs GTW, 550 lbs TW # BXW0556 - Replacement Spring...

  • Can The Same Weight Distribution Hitch Used With Dump Trailer Be Used With a Travel Trailer?
Your situation is a great option for the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution # BLU54TR. This particular kit is rated for trailers up to 15,000lbs with a tongue weight of 1,000-1,500lbs. When you need to haul your travel trailer you can use some different spring bars that are better for the weight of your smaller trailer. There are the 750-1,000LB Bars # BXW4007 and 550-750LB Bars # BXW4006 which will be closer to what your travel trailer requires. We also have Lift Brackets # BXW4010...

  • Can Blue Ox Swaypro for 2,000 lb Tongue Weight be Used with 650 lb Tongue Weight
If you use a weight distribution system that is rated way higher like what you mentioned you'll end up with a very harsh ride quality. Best option would be two swap out the spring bars for lighter rated ones like with the part # BXW4006 which is rated for between 550 and 750 lbs.

  • Can Blue Ox SwayPro Rated For 2,000 lb Tongue Weight be Used on Multiple Smaller Trailers
Technically, as long as the system will fit the trailers (have a frame height between 3" and 6"), even if they are much lighter you can use the SwayPro system you asked about with a 2,000 lb tongue weight rating: - Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - Underslung - 20K GTW, 2K TW # BXW2003 The issue though, is that with a system rated so much higher than needed, the ride will be very stiff and rigid, and the trailer will bounce a lot to the point that it would...

  • Will Overrated Blue Ox Spring Bars Impact Sway Control
Hi Joseph; the sway control won't be impacted using overrated bars like the # BXW4007. You're really not over by too much since they have a tongue weight range. In this case it is 750-1,000 lbs. What you may experience is a rigid or even bouncy ride. If you take your trailer out and it is uncomfortable and noticeable I would swap them out for appropriately weighted bars. If you have the SwayPro you can use the # BXW4006 (rated for 550-750 lbs TW) or for the TrackPro # BLU25FR (600-800 lbs TW).

  • Can I Swap Spring Bars on a Blue Ox Sway Pro System For Different Sized Trailers
Yes. You can use the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - 20,000 lbs GTW, 2,000 lbs TW # BXW2000 with the smaller Replacement Spring Bars for Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System - 750 lbs TW # BXW4006. The spring bars on these systems can be swapped out as needed to allow you to have the proper bar size on the weight distribution system.

  • Should Blue Ox SwayPro Spring Bars Be Replaced for Significantly Lighter Travel Trailer
You'll have a very rough ride if you use the bars you currently have, so I'd definitely recommend going with lower rated spring bars. It wouldn't be a bad idea to load up your travel trailer as it would normally be when you pull it and determine the actual tongue weight. I'll link you to an article that shows a couple of different ways of doing this, but the easiest way to do it would be to use a payload/tongue weight scale like the etrailer, part # e99044. I'll link to a video showing...

The Blue Ox Sway Pro spring bars with one dot or dimple are rated for up to 550 lbs, so I'd recommend replacing the spring bars using the 750 lb rated # BXW4006 if the tongue weight of the loaded trailer is less than 750 lbs (including the weight of anything stowed in the truck bed or cargo area behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle). If the as-towed tongue weight is greater than 750 lbs, use # BXW4007 which are good for 750-1000 lbs of tongue weight. If you don't know the as-towed tongue...

The Sway Pro systems from the highest to the lowest rated all use the same weight distribution head. To change the weight rating of the system, you'd simply swap out the spring bars. For up to 750 lb tongue weight we have the part # BXW4006 or for up to 1,000 lbs # BXW4007.

  • Troubleshooting Sway With Blue Ox Weight Distribution Hitch With 3 Dots On Spring Bars
Based on the information you have given me it sounds like you have the Replacement Spring Bars for Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System - 1,000 lbs TW # BXW4007 on your current system which are rated for 750-1,000 lbs of tongue weight. This would mean that your current setup is potentially overrated. Hey Alan, thanks for reaching out! If you have the SwayPro system then you're using the 1,000 lbs TW Spring Bars # BXW4007 with a range of 750 lbs - 1,000 lbs, and if you have the 2-Point Sway system then you're using the 1,200 lbs TW Spring Bars # BLU64XR with a range of 800 lbs - 1,200 lbs. If you trailer's dry hitch weight is 456-lbs, then by the time you load your gear and supplies and fill your water and/or propane tanks it is quite likely you'll be in the range of 650 to 700-lbs TW.
