Quiet, Secure Ride
The 1" thick jaw on the Companion OEM is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.
In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Companion has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on a padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.
Non-Binding Latch Handle
The dual jaw on the Companion OEM is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.
The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".
To install the Companion OEM, first set up the Companion's pivot arms. The arms are what allow the hitch to be adjusted front to back as well as up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can accommodate the height of your trailer and also help to give you the cab clearance needed to execute turns while towing.
To adjust either the height of the hitch or the fore/aft positioning, just attach the hitch's pivot arms in the desired location on the base.
Then, when the hitch head is fully assembled, simply place the hitch in the bed of your truck, lining the base up with the receiver sockets in the bed. Rotate all 4 handles on the hitch base out so that the built-in puck receivers are in the correct position to install in the sockets. Once the base is lined up, fold the handles in until they are in the locked position and secure them with the included pins.
The hitch head installs on top of the pivot arms. When you have the head in position, simply secure it to the arms with the included pins.

Fast shipping, arrived as expected. We purchased a used 5th wheel and needed a hitch. Assembly was easy and it works wonderful. We just returned from a trip to Montana and the site was not flat, truck was tilted pretty good to one side, but trailer was level. We had no issues unhooking and the wife was concerned we would have some issues hooking back up. NO issues, we backed in until we engaged plate, lowered trailer down some, backed up some more, presto! hooked up fine.
When we first installed, we had towards rear of truck on adjustments, we changed that so it is forward now.
We've been on smooth roads, rough roads and it just works great. No chucking, very quiet. The roads going from Washington to Arizona were pretty rough at times and hitch was quiet and solid.
Purchased this hitch for a 2024 GMC 3500 Denali DRW. After RVing for 14 years and have used several other brands. This is by far the easiest and smoothest operating hitch I have ever used. Shipment was a little late by only a couple of days, but since my truck hadn't arrived at the dealership it wasn't a problem. When it comes time to assemble the hitch, make sure you watch the etrailer video first before reading the instructions. (Less confusing)
Besides the base hanging out of the box on delivery, this is a great hitch. I am coming from a B&W 5th wheel Companion hitch for the turnover ball to the OEM version. I like the smaller footprint and that this hitch is 50 pounds lighter than my last one Much easier to take it in and out of the truck. B&W makes a great hitch and etrailer was easy to work with as always. I love that etrailer provides so much information on the items they sell right on the website.
Hitch was missing a lock pin but etrailer.com handled it right away by having B&W ship one to me.
My order shipped on time and was in great shape when it arrived. I have not installed it, but don’t think that will be an issue. B&W makes great products and etrailer is a great distributor! Thanks etrailer!

Great! I highly recommend this product.
This is absolutely the best hitch you can buy. My wife and I towed my 18,000 Grand Design from Florida to Montana last fall, unhitching each night and re-hitching each morning, for 12 days and it was effortless to use. Solid as a rock, quiet, secure locking mechanism, visual and audible feedback when the locking mechanism engages, simple to unhitch. Also, it's very easy to lift in and out of the truck bed, since the head portion easily comes off. 100% happy with this purchase, and very highly recommended!!!
I purchased this 5th wheel hitch for my 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD Dually (factory 5th wheel puck system). And I’ve only owned this unit for a few days so this review is about etrailers service and the 5th wheel installation.
I do have to mark off a star because of shipping. Because when I received the 5th wheel the box it was put back together with duck tape and was holding on for dear life. After unboxing the 5th wheel hitch it held up pretty well with only 2 spots where the powder coat paint Job rubbed off (and I can live with that). And there was a missing keeper pin for the puck leg and this is where I would give etrailer 5 stars. Because after talking with one of the guys from etrailer, he was able to ship out my missing pin the next day. Thank you etrailer!
Installing the 5th wheel was pretty fast and it fits like a glove. Not much more to say about that.

very easy install. This hitch is awesome, Very confident when
connected, Very easy to disconnect. way lighter than our old hitch.
Our old truck hitch was a reese elite single jaw slider (we never not
even once used the slider), you couldn't see if it was fully closed.
This hitch is dual jaw and very easy to see if closed. We have only
connected and disconnected a few dozen times so far on this trip but
no binds and very easy to use. I highly recommend this hitch.

Top notch, I have a 20K on my 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD been great. That’s why I bought another one for my 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD but that one is a 25K . My only complaint is one of the handles was bent right out of the box.

What a great hitch. I've had Curt and Reese in the past, this is the first B&W for me. Super solid, extremely well built. The double locking jaws are fantastic. On the previous hitch, we had to be level or couldn't pull the disconnect lever, as the jaws would bind. On this hitch, that should never be a problem. I like how easy this disassembles, making it a breeze to remove from the bed when needed. All around excellent hitch, glad I purchased, and shipping was 4 days faster than anticipated.
the hitch is overall solid and well built, fits perfectly in my 2022 Gmc AT4 3500 standard bed puck system, i just wish the packaging was a little better the bottom part of the hitch had marks on it down to the metal hopefully it won’t rust over time
Simple to use and it works well. Much better design than the previous models.
Had trouble getting the pins into the pucks.
I could only 2 in at any time had the castle nuts loosened way up.
Called etrailer spoke with josh explained the problem he was very helpful asked for pictures I tried again still only 2 aligned up but closer had a third close jumped and it went into place. Was real worried had to leave to pick up new trailer in two days. Have not removed it and tried to reinstall yet hopefully was just too much powder coat or bed liner.
But hitch works great.

About the same hitch is great just very difficult to install. Something is just slightly out of alignment. Could be the hitch could be the truck. Just wish it wasn’t a fight to install.

The B&W Companion for the GM Puck system has been flawless. Its been smooth, no failures and quiet. I love that it separates into two pieces for easy removal, when needed. Would highly recommend this hitch.

Easy install, light weight, easy to remove when not in use. Head stays level no need to try and hold in place. Release handle release effortlessly when under load. Excellent hitch!
The hitch appears to be very well made and of solid construction. All welds look great and fit and finish is excellent. Operation is smooth and tight. My unit is for GMC 3500HD w/factory hitch prep and unit seats into sockets very well and once properly adjusted it locks in place with solid connection. Initial out of box assembly and install was literally completed during my lunch break. Haven’t towed with it yet but I expect it will perform satisfactory.

The hitch has worked out great this past year. Towed the 22K lb. camper almost 10K miles with zero issues. Not sure where the 2014 Ram 3500 title came from above. Never owned a Dodge.
