Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Blue Ox manual battery disconnect for a towed vehicle with a flat tow brake system. Now if you need to disconnect the battery to flat tow your vehicle, you're going to want this kit and the way you're gonna determine if your vehicle requires the battery to be disconnected for flat towing. We do recommend to consult owner's manual. Now this will include everything shown here on the table. It includes this on and off switch right here with the two 24-inch long, two gauge size battery cables.
Comes with this metal switch mounting bracket that you can actually mount in whatever position you need for your application. But it's designed to, this attaches to it. And again, it'll attach Whichever way you need. Comes with these two flex guard wire looms. Right here is a three inch long heat shrink tube.
Cover your connection when it's made. Cable ties, and then the hardware to install your switch to the mounting bracket. Now this also comes with a nice set of instructions you can see here. That'll actually describe how this all goes together and operates. This will work with almost any 12-volt battery.
It is designed to work with gas or diesel injuries. Now this kit itself allows you to disconnect your battery with just the turn of the knob. It's much safer and faster than doing it yourself while keeping your towing accessories charge, so it eliminates that inconvenience and danger of having to pull the battery cable. This will provide a positive current source for the breakaway switch and other accessories without draining the battery. And the way you can tell once this is hooked up, if you notice right now there's an arrow right up at the top.
Your battery is going straight across, but there's a green area that it's pointing to and it's telling you that it's on. So your battery is connected. All you have to do to disconnect it is turn it this way to the red. It's a red section over here and that arrow's pointing toward that. So that's telling you now it's disconnected. So it's very easy to tell you switch it up that way. It's pointing to the green, means it's connected, so it's an easy way. You can look right at it and tell if it's connected or disconnected. Now this is rated at 275 amps, constant-duty, 1,250 amps surge capability. A couple notes I wanna mention on this kit is when you do disconnect your battery, whether it's manually or with this automatic disconnect, it could affect your vehicle's electronics. So you might need to reset various electrical components in your vehicle following the use of this product. Now this is one battery disconnect. So if you have one battery on your vehicle, you'll need one of these. If you do have two batteries, you will need two battery disconnects. Again, you can see it's easiest just turning the knob, the connector, disconnect your battery. That's gonna do it for a look at this Blue Ox manual battery disconnect for tow vehicles with a flat tow brake system.
