Today we're going to be taking a look at the Bulldog Replacement Thrust Bearing for the 5000 pound jacks, part number BD500223. This is great for use on the 170 Series jack or on the Crown style of jack. Again, we're looking for a 5000 pound lift capacity. Basically, we're going to have the new washer here, dressed 00:00:26 washer. This is the typical point of failure that you're going to find in this style of jack. You can see it's a top wind jack, center pin that comes out and the cap's welded on here. You're see our bearing right here.
The cool thing with this style of jack that have the welded on cap is that the bearings been to designed to keep out the water and the elements, so our shaft's going to come up though the middle there. This is going to be the top portion. You can see that bearing is completely sealed, so any water moisture is going to run down past it rather than getting inside of the bearing. Here you'll see how that's actually going to work right down on there as we turn it gives this nice, smooth operation. To do the replacement, it's really quite simple. We're going to need a couple of 7/16 ratchets or wrenches of whatever you've got.
We just want to take the nut off of that main bolt that goes through. Pull that off. We're going to be re-using it, so we want to hang on to it there. You can see our handle assembly, that's just going to slide right off the top. We'll start pulling that shaft out.
There, you're going to see our old bearing and our old dress 00:01:54 washer. The jack itself is a simple screw design. As we turn our handle on the top it just threads in and out. This is held stationary here at the top, so it's just going to extend that length 00:02:06 down and down. That screw hardly ever fails. It might get a little bit tight.
You can crack that with a little bit of grease, but typically it's going to be that bearing and that washer. Like we said before, they're going to be the point of failure. We're going to take our new washer on there, new bearing's going to slide down on there. You can see the tube of our jack's really quite straightforward, just an outer housing. This has all the mechanisms in that lower portion. See, there's a groove right here. It's a groove down the side of the jack. That's to keep this entire thing from spinning. That's what gives us the expansion and contraction that we're looking for. Just bring that on down. You'll notice this little washer that's here on the top. If that comes off when you're doing your replacement, you just want to be sure you have that back on there. Handle slides back on. Slide our bolt back in and then we just got to get it tightened down. It's a nylon lock nut, so it doesn't have to be overly tight, but you do want it snug. That way you don't have wear points. If things are loose, sometimes they'll wear kind of weird. Just want to avoid that. Now we're right back where we started. You're going to have nice smooth operation of the jack now. This can be done on the trailer if you can support your trailer tongue up high enough to slide this out. If not, you might have to remove the 3 bolts that are located here on top to get it off the trailer and real quick, easy replacement. Put it right back on. We're ready to start enjoying that trailer again. With our jack working the way it should, that's going to complete our installation of the Bulldog Replacement Thrust Bearings for the 5000 pound lift capacity jacks, part number BD500223.

First set of gears didn't match description & wouldn't fit. Called customer service & explained the problem. She had new gears sent out that worked great. Excellent service!!
Received what I ordered in a very timely fashion. Will install when weather is better. I have confidence I will be able to use my tongue jack to lift my boat trailer again.
Just what I needed, fair price, received quickly, website easy to navigate.
Great price, fast shipping and a perfect fit. A higher-quality bearing than the OE one. My tongue jack is better than new.
Great well made
Just what was needed.
This replaced my existing thrust bearing on a Shelby made welded on crank tongue jack that the cage has rusted and no longer held the balls. It was the perfect interior I/D and exterior I/D which I was worried about. I had to use some washer to make up some hieght differences, but it worked great in the end!
Item shipped and received promptly! It is great to be able to order individual parts for my trailer jack and not have to replace a whole jack because the bearing assembly went bad!

So far it’s still doing the job.
Bearing fit perfectly for a Fulton 2500HD floor jack. Unfortunately, the included washer is a lot thicker than the original washer. This prohibited the groove pin from inserting into the screw rod hole to secure the bottom of the bevel gear. Cleaned and reused the old washer and all is good. Lubing the screw rod fixed the difficulties in cranking the jack in both directions. Like new again.
Separating the lower tubing to access the screw rod was a bit challenging. Used a stout center punch with a three pound sledge hammer to pound the top of the screw rod to drop the lower tube. Don't need to do this step if you don't need to lube the screw rod. Can tamp the screw rod just low enough to slide out the guide plate to access the bearing and washer for replacement.
Grease the old washer and new bearing with grease then install on screw rod before returning the lower tubing back into the outer tubing. Use a rubber mallet and tamp the square mounting plate on each side to feed the screw rod up to the metal guide plate so rod feeds through the center hole.
Highly recommend this item.
Fast Shipping and exactly what I ordered
I needed these to repair a bulldog trailer jack. They work fine. I was frustrated over how long it took to ship them.
These new bearings make the trailer jack like new. Easy to replace and they seem to last longer than the original bearings.
Thrust bearing kit was exactly what I needed. The best part is the weight rating is higher than what the original bearing was plus it fit the jack which isn't a Bulldog.
These bearings were just right for a trailer jack. Good service and FAST delivery. Thank you!
Bearing kit fit my Brand X tongue jack and saved me the cost of replacing the jack.
Perfect fit. Just the replacement for my original ones that failed
I will be ordering another set for my dump trailer.
I was looking for a bushing to repair my jack and some grease for the screw but was not confident of exactly what I needed so I called the toll free number. The customer representative was very helpful and knowledgeable! After getting my address to ship my order, he advised me that the office was fairly close to where I was located and suggested the possibility to save shipping and just picking up the order which was really nice! The order shipped very quickly and was exactly what I was looking for.
Jack works great again-- Glad you hade the parts available

You mentioned that they were the wrong size and I had a few questions to ask. What is the capacity and brand of your jack?

Hi Jenny, I did order the wrong size because I didnt know the ID of the bearing. It is fine because I had another smaller jack that needed a bearing. They fit that application fine. I ordered a larger one after I measured the shaft. Thanks for checking
