Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I bought these wheels because my old steel wheels were starting to rust, and these aluminum wheels are styled kinda like the wheels on my truck. the finish looks nice. they are lighter than the steel wheels, and run truer (no wobble) than any of my steel trailer wheels. now I need to paint the hubs and put on new lugnuts to finish the look.

Yikes, I'd like to get this corrected for you. Unfortunately, this order is a year old, so I don't think we will be able to issue a return this late. I wish we would have known as soon as they showed up. Next time please be sure to contact us right away; we would have definitely been able to help more.

by:

These definitely add a touch of class. When we first got our travel trailer we purchased 4 wheels plus the center caps and lugs. After a couple years of travel, we decided to further upgrade. We had a welder create a high-mount spare tire carrier so we could put a cargo carrier in the bumper hitch and carry 2 generators in the summer. We just bought and mounted a fifth matching wheel for the spare tire so the we have a classy look even for someone behind us!

by:

To be more accurate, I give the actual product 5 stars and the customer service 3 stars...

Ordered these wheels based on the great reviews and was happy to have them arrive 2 days later, especially since I was traveling without a spare in the mean time. The problem? They sent the wrong wheels. Talked to customer service and they said they would expedite shipping and to expect an email shortly with shipping confirmation. It never came. Called the next day and it turns out the first customer service person never put the 2nd order through... another day lost.

The new wheels finally arrived, though, and they worked out perfectly. Very nice quality and very reasonably priced. Would definitely order here again, but going to keep my fingers crossed that the order is shipped correctly first time out...

by:

Wheels came quickly and look to be a well made product. Machining is first rate, polished nicely and clear coated. Only issue is they came with two stickers from the manufacturer on them and it's been very difficult to remove them with out marring the nicely finished coating. The wheels look really good on our airstream, and it's a nice upgrade. Over all other than the stickers a very good product.

by:

Package arrived at date E Trailer said it would. Boxed up nice with no issues. Very happy with the service and tacking packages.
Great job

by:

Wheel and tire Package completely transformed the look and feel of the trailer. Couldn't have asked for better product and service. Thanks etrailer as always!

by:

Everything I order from etrailer has always been top notch and high quality. I ordered the rims in the morning and by early afternoon they were already being shipped. Will diffentely be ordering more in the future. Great company.

by:

Great product, very nice fit and finish. Very easy purchase through the etrailer website, very timely shipping and all items were well packed. eTrailer continues to impress.

Custom trailer with aluminum mod wheels

by:

The wheels arrived with numerous scratches on the surface of the mag wheels, indicating they were not adequately packaged. Proper protective material should have been placed over the wheels to prevent them from moving and getting scratched inside the packaging.

by:

Very impressed w the quality of the wheels. Had 2 steel wheels crack so thankfull that won’t be an issue with these. They also made my trailer look so much better!

by:

These wheels came in quick so I mounted them up quick. They look really great on my 18’ open car hauler.

by:

Your service is amazing. I placed my order and it was shipped that day. The products are as advertised and arrived in excellent condition. Hope to get them mounted tomorrow.
It's nice to see there are still quality businesses out there like yours that put customers first. THANK YOU

by:

Great look for a 1970 trailer.

by:

Beautiful rims at a fantastic price. So glad to be rid of the standard steel rims and rust. Combined with the tires I purchased and quick delivery, I'll never go anywhere else for my 5th wheel needs.

Very happy with this purchase

by:

Great product at a great price! Well packed and quick shipment! No damage on arrival! I purchase all my trailer needs from etrailer.

by:

The wheels are very nice, but they don't match the ones I have. Looking at them I though they were the same until I got them. the holes in the wheel are about an inch and a half and there are only 10. The wheels I am trying to match There are 12 holes and they are an inch in diameter. I would like to return these. I have looked through your inventory and you don't have what I am looking for.

by:

I ordered a pair of wheels along with associated items. Soon after ordering, I received a call from the folks at etrailer to say that the wheels were not in stock, but expected soon. Thereafter, I received email follow-ups, including one to indicate that the package was shipped.

These folks know how to treat customers! A great experience working with them!

You have no idea how amazingly good those new aluminum wheels look with our newly mirror-polished vintage Airstream! Enough said!!:

by:

Bought these to dress up our 12k deck over trailer. The original rims were beginning to peel and rust on the edges. These aluminum wheels have been a good replacement. We use the trailer to haul some heavy equipment, such as tractors and skid loaders, and the wheels have held up great. I have no issues with them whatsoever.

A side note, It is a good practice as with any aluminum trailer wheels to keep up on the torque for the lug nuts. I re-torqued after the first few hundred miles, and just checked them recently, a year after purchase as I write this review.

My stock open acorn style lug nuts worked with these wheels, they do however sit inside the bores on the wheels, in such a situation, an impact socket will not fit the lugs due to the wall thickness, so a chrome socket must be used. No big deal. I do have plans to buy the longer chrome lug nuts, but have not gotten around to it as of yet.

by:

Wheel performing flawlessly, have not needed to adjust air pressure in one year of use. Best price and service out there!

by:

They’ve always done a great job for me.

  • Recommendation Between Aluminum and Steel Trailer Wheels
The main difference between steel wheels and aluminum wheels is the corrosion resistance. Aluminum wheels will stand the test of time much better than steel wheels. The capacities between something like the Taskmaster # TA52FR and the HWT # AM22646 will be the same at 2,830 pounds per wheel. As long as the wheels capacity meets your needs, which either of these definitely will, this shouldn't be an issue. The other big difference is the designs. It sounds like you're looking for the Aluminum HWT Hi-Spec Series 03 Mod Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 # AM22627 instead of the # AM22646.
