Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

  • What is the Cold Inflation Pressure of a Loadstar 4.80-12 Tire
In order to determine the specific cold inflation pressure of your tires, I will need to know the load rating of the tire. The load rating or load range designation should be stamped on the tire. We carry two Loadstar 4.80-12 tires, a load range C tire, # AM10062, and a load range B tire, # AM10060. The inflation pressure will be different based on the load rating. The load range C tire can support a maximum load of 990 lbs at 90 psi and the load range B tire can support 785 lbs at 60...

  • Which Load Rating ST205/65-10 Is Best For a 1992 Jayco Pop Up Camper?
I wish I could say this is the exact tire you need Ron, but I will actually need a bit more information from you to know which tire is best for your 1992 Jayco pop up camper. For the 205/65-10 we have a load range B # AM1HP50, C # AM1HP52, D # AM1HP54 and E # AM1HP56. The best way to know which tire is going to be best is by knowing the trailers maximum weight capacity which I can find with either the model number of your camper or you can check the manufacturer weight tag on the front...

  • Recommended Tire Pressure for a Tire Size 20.5 x 8 - 10
The tires in your size that we offer have varying pressure ratings depending on their load capacity. For example, if you look at the tires in your size shown on the link I have included you will see that those rated for Load range E, such as # AM3H490, have a specified pressure of 90-psi; those rated as Load range C, such as # AM3H400, have a pressure rating of 50-psi. Trailer tires will indicate their required inflation pressure on the sidewall of the tire. This is usually stated as a...

  • Correct Tire Pressure for Trailer Tires
It should be 50 psi if that is what is on your tire's sidewall; on any trailer tire you always want to inflate the tire to the maximum cold psi. Doing this will give you the best performance, allowing the tire to wear more slowly and give you optimum gas mileage.

  • How To Choose Correct Load Range for 205/65-10 Tire
The 205/65-10 tire I recommend is the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire which is offered in a load range b (910 lbs) part # AM1HP50, load range c (1,100 lbs) part # AM1HP52, and load range d (1,330 lbs) part # AM1HP54. In order to choose the correct load range you will need to know the total weight of the trailer and choose the set that meets or exceeds this figure. For example, if your trailer weighs 2,000 lbs then you will want to go with the load range c or load range d tires.

  • Will Load Range E 205/65-10 Trailer Tire Fit In Place of a Load Range C Tire
A load range E tire will have a higher capacity than a load range C. However, it does not increase the capacity of the trailer. The load range E will be stronger though so if that is what you are looking for then you can switch to a higher load range if you wanted to. If you want to stick with a C load range then go with # AM1HP52.

  • How Much PSI Should Be Used In the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire On a Golf Cart
The Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire part # AM1HP52 has a max psi rating of 50. In regards to trailer use, we must recommend you fill the tires to the max psi listed on the sidewall. That said, EZ-Go may have a different recommendation for you so it would be wise to reach out to them to see what they recommend but if none is given then the max psi of 50 is safe. I have attached for you below a list of all options we have in this size.

  • Replacement for 20.5 x 8-10 Tire and 5-Lug Wheel
So you mentioned wheel, though the 20.5 x 8-10 size you mentioned is actually a tire size, which leads me to think you are looking for a replacement wheel and tire of that size. Since that's an older tire size, what you will need is the modern equivalent, a size 205/65-10 tire, along with a wheel that the tire will fit on. We have just 205/65-10 tires, or just the 5-lug 10 inch rim, or a combination of the tire and rim together if that is what you are looking for. Here are the options...

This is rated for 70 mph max due to the tires. Traveling faster is not recommended as the tires could overheat and fail but traveling at 70 mph max consistently wouldn't be an issue so it will add 15 minutes to your trip but will get you there safely. • What is the Trailer Tire Speed Rating of the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire?
The Kenda Bias Trailer Tire # AM1HP52 exceeds the DOT requirements for a tire. The tire has a mark on the sidewall that has the letter "N" which means 87MPH. If you are going the speed limit, you will not have any issues with the tire when inflated properly. It wouldn't be a bad idea to grab a tire gauge if you don't have one already # TMG-RV-Dial.

  • Spare Tire Replacement for 2019 Triton Snowmobile Trailer with 205-65R10 Tires
I would first start by checking the load range of your existing trailer tires to make sure that you get a match for the set; if you currently have Load Range D tires (which I would suspect with a snowmobile trailer) you'll want to replace it with the same. If you've got a Load Range C tire, you'll want a Load Range C spare. If you only need the tire, and not a tire/wheel combo, I recommend using the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire # AM1HP54. This is a 205/65R10 Load Range D tire that should...

  • Should I Switch To Radial Tires From Bias On Boat Trailer That Travels On Highway
I definitely recommend to switch over from bias tire part # AM1HP52 to radials if you are traveling on a hot Florida Highway. Radial tires cords are positioned to flex easier than the stiffer sidewall of the bias tires. Bias tires create more friction while going down the highway because of their stiffer sidewall which creates heat and can lead to blow outs. I recommend the Kenda Karrier S-Trail part # AM10130 which is a ST145/R12. The diameter of the tire is only 1.3" larger than your...

  • Are 20.5 x 8-10 and 205/65-10 Trailer Tires the Same Size
Although I can't speak to why someone printed that on a tire, but the two sizes are almost exactly the same, so maybe it was an approximation by the tire manufacturers. Essentially you can swap the two out with no issue because a 20.5 x 8 -10 is 20-1/2 inches in diameter and 8 inches wide, while a 205/65-10 tire is 20-1/2 inches in diameter and 8.3 inches wide, so the difference is extremely slight.
