Heavy loads can cause the back of your vehicle to sag and add unnecessary stress to your suspension. This stress not only affects your brakes in a bad way, but your tires, headlight aim and handling suffer as well. To improve your vehicle's ability to endure heavy loads, you need to add support to your existing coil springs.

Air Lift's AirLift 1000 adjustable air springs have 1,000 pounds of load-leveling capacity and are made specifically to fit inside your rear coil spring suspension for additional load assistance. You can inflate and deflate these tough, molded polyurethane helper springs as needed, ensuring the perfect amount of support for every load, every time. Easily level your vehicle front to rear, and if you run dual air lines to the air springs at installation, then you can inflate the springs independently of one another for side-to-side leveling. AirLift 1000 is a breeze to install with standard tools and comes with an easy-to-follow instruction manual.

AirLift 1000 comes with manual inflation valves that are typically mounted on the bumper but can be installed anywhere on your vehicle for easy access. For even more convenience and control, you can add a compressor and gauge system (sold separately), which will let you monitor and automatically inflate your air springs.

Air Lift kits are designed to keep your vehicle at normal ride height. You can find the normal ride height of your vehicle by unloading it and measuring the distance between the bottom edge of your wheel well and the center of the hub. After you find and record this distance, you can regulate the amount of air that you put into your air springs to maintain normal ride height - even when you are hauling a heavy load. You will need to adjust the air pressure in your air bags according to the size of your load.

Air Lift is positive that you will benefit from their air spring suspension system - so much so that they offer a 60-day satisfaction guarantee. Install and use AirLift 1000 springs for 60 days, and if you are not satisfied at the end of this time, you can remove them from your vehicle and return them for a full product refund.

  • Suspenbsion Enhancement Option For 2018 Ford Flex Limited AWD
Hello Kevin, thanks for reaching out. An air suspension kit like the Air Lift # AL60821 is a great option for the 2018 Ford Flex Limiterd AWD since it allows for adjustability. If you want to skip over that, the next best option is the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFRFLX. These will help to support the rear end by reducing sagging and improving stability. They have a 3,000 lb capacity so they will make a noticeable difference. The only downside of Timbrens is they can make...

  • Air Bags or Timbrens Recommendation for 2017 Ford Explorer
For your 2017 Ford Explorer the choice of suspension enhancement comes down to a few things and what you value the most. The Timbren kit part # TFRFLX provides a super easy install, no maintenance, and great suspension support. The downside though is that unloaded ride quality will suffer since the spring is pretty harsh. If you will be in need of suspension enhancement basically all the time and like the no-maintenance aspect this is the winner. But if you need to have a decent ride quality...

  • Rear Suspension Enhancement For A 2014 Ford Explorer
The Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for Coil Spring Suspension - Rear Axle Item # CSS-1069R are not compatible with your 2014 Ford Explorer. To help the sag I recommend the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs - Rear Item # AL60821. The bags fit inside the coil springs and have a 1000lb load leveling capacity. You can add the minimum amount of air when unloaded to remove the sag and add pressure when loaded to help maintain a level stance while supporting the load of...

  • Rear Suspension Enhancements For A 2013 Ford Explorer
I do have a set of SumoSprings for the rear of your 2013 Ford Explorer. For this, you will want to use the Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for Coil Spring Suspension part # CSS-1125R. These are designed to attach to the coil spring and will work to reduce body roll and level the vehicle. Although the Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs will work for you, I recommend using a set of air springs like the Air Lift AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs part # AL60821 as...

  • Are the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs Compatible With the 2012 Ford Taurus SEL
I spoke with my contact at Air Lift and he notified me that the AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs, # AL60821, will work on your 2012 Ford Taurus SEL 2wd if your rear suspension has coil springs. I did some research on your vehicle and it looks like it should have independent rear multi-link suspension with stabilizer bar and coil springs, so you should have no problem using these air springs. I would recommend verifying the suspension on your vehicle before making a purchase just to be...

  • Tips and Tricks for Installing Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs In 2013 Ford Explorer
When installing the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs # AL60821 you were looking at in your 2013 Ford Explorer you will need to unbolt the shock and the sway bar link to allow the spring to decompress enough to get the air helper spring in. In addition to this you will also need to remove the cap from the fill valve on air helper spring and roll it up to remove all of the air, then reinstall the cap to keep it from filling back up. This will make it small enough to fit in between the coils. I...

  • Is Rear End Sag Normal When Using MaxxTow Hitch-Mount Motorcycle Carrier MT70101
Thank you for your purchase of the Draw-Tite 2-inch hitch # 76034 and the MaxxTow Aluminum Motorcycle Carrier MT70101. When a hitch carrier like this is installed and loaded up with a motorcycle (even a relatively light one like a smaller dirt bike) there will always be some rear end sag on the vehicle. In the same way, a vehicle like a pickup truck that can have a front hitch installed to allow use of a snowplow will have the same issue but only on the other end of the vehicle. The further...

  • Installation of Timbren Jounce Springs and Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2012 Ford Flex
The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFRFLX that you referenced will install to the inside of the coil spring on your 2012 Ford Flex. The installation instructions for the springs are attached. Timbren states in the instructions that a professional installation is required for these jounce springs. The suspension enhancement system I recommend for your 2012 Ford Flex is the Air Lift AirLift 1000 # AL60821. These airbags do install inside the coil springs of your Flex. With...

  • Selecting Ball Mount and Brake Controller for 2018 Ford Explorer
Ideally, the trailer and vehicle should be level while loaded. If the vehicle sags while the trailer is coupled and loaded then you need to take this into consideration when selecting a ball mount. It does not matter how low you go with a ball mount so long as you have ground clearance. The etrailer Ball Mount Kit part # 989900 is a good starter option but we have many others attached below via link. It might be worth looking into some suspension enhancements as vehicle sag is not good...

Although the the Timbren # TFRFLX is confirmed to fit the 2014 Ford Explorer, it does not fit the Sport models. • Is Suspension Enhancement Required with Trailer Hitch for 2013 Ford Taurus
Not necessarily, installing a trailer hitch on your 2013 Ford Taurus like the Draw Tite part # 36492 would be fine without suspension enhancement, but adding it wouldn't be a bad idea if you plan to tow near the vehicle's capacity. For the suspension you'd then want the Air Lift kit part # AL60821 which would give you more suspension support to help level the vehicle.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System For Trailer With 358 lb Loaded Tongue Weight
For your 2010 Ford Flex and your trailer with 358 lb tongue weight, I recommend you get a weight distribution system rated for up to 600 lbs. The reason for this is any cargo behind the rear axle of your vehicle acts like tongue weight for your system and is added to your total tongue weight rating. This will give you adequate weight for your cargo as well as accommodate your trailer loaded tongue weight. For this system I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point...

  • How To Help Keep A 2017 Ford Explorer From Sagging and Wheels Rubbing While Loaded
The Air Lift AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs part # AL60821 are a fit for a 2017 Ford Explorer and will help with your rubbing issue. The air bags install inside the coil springs and when inflated will stop the springs from compressing as much therefore you won't sag as much therefore your tires won't rub. The best part of all is that the air bags are adjustable so you can simply let the air out while a load is not present so it doesn't affect the unloaded ride quality. The Air Lift AirLift...

  • Can I Carry a 400 Lb Motorcycle On the Back Of a 2017 Ford Explorer
According to the owner's manual for a 2017 Ford Explorer, the tongue weight capacity cannot exceed 15% of your towing capacity. The towing capacity of your Explorer varies from 2,000 to 5,000 lbs (see manual page 240) therefore the tongue weight capacity can be as low as 300 lbs or as high as 750 lbs. The weight of the carrier and motorcycle cannot exceed the tongue weight capacity so it is possible to carry a 400 lb motorcycle, it just depends on what your towing capacity is. That said,...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for a 2013 Ford Explorer To Reduce Rear End Sag
I recommend having the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs # AL60821 installed on your 2013 Ford Explorer. This in combination with the Compressor Kit # AL25980 will allow you to reduce the rear end sag on your Explorer when you connect to your trailer. The system will allow you to easily adjust the air pressure in the springs to reduce sag from the wireless remote. And you can easily deflate the springs down to the minimum 5psi required to reduce having a stiff ride when not towing.
