Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

All items in the hub assembly arrived as described and in perfect condition. I would like to thank etrailer.com for their excellent on-line product documentation and advice. It gave me the confidence I needed that I would get the correct sizes when placing my order. Tell the boss, this is why I purchased from etrailer!

The wheel bearings on my utility trailer gave out and the local Les Schwab wanted an arm and a leg to replace them. They also noted the tires were at the local tread limit and needed to be replaced. So I went searching for lower cost alternatives.

I found etrailer.com on a google search and was impressed by their selection, low pricing and expert help on their website. I ended up ordering two Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C and two Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized from etrailer, and also a set of Reese Towpower 74177 Wheel Bearing Protectors from Amazon. My total cost was LESS THAN the price Les Swhwab quoted me for bearing replacements for the two wheels.

They are all on my trailer and and look great. I am really impressed by the quality of parts from etrailer and also their great pricing. Give them a try!

I need to return those pieces since they turned out to be too small for the axle of my trailer, how do I send them?

I bought an older used boat and trailer. Checked the hun seals which had bee leainfg and saw some pitting on bearings. Bougth these new hubs and bearings. Everything fit perfectly and I we done in less than a hour. thankyou etrailer for coming through for me AGAIN!

by:

First and foremost, etrailer is the sh*t. Not only do they have awesome customer service and helpful info, but they also have an awesome tracking system. And the best of all, the BEST prices and deals. I couldn't find hub deals this cheap anywhere and ontop of that the quality is awesome and their galvanized. Etrailer is the best.

by:

This order unfortunately did not fit my application for a tandem jetski trailer.

by:

Everything I needed to solve an issue I had with my old trailer axle in a timely manner.

by:

Exactly as pictured! The only thing better than the product is the customer service! Shipped well on time and shipped in a quality box. etrailer is THE place to go for what you need. Very helpful and are now on my "go to" list!

I really havent had much use out of them yet but did get everything put on without any problems. Appreciate your concern.

by:

Do NOT be in a rush to receive the correct product. I ordered this hub on 12-2-2021. Received the order on 12-7-2021, not too bad. However, the hub I received was a 4 bolt and not a 5 on 4 1/2. Called etrailer, sent them pics to prove and verify I received wrong item. I was told to send wrong one back with a prepaid shipping label. Today (12-17-2021) the correct one (I hope) arrived. Took so long to receive it that I used a different hub for now. Hopefully when I use this one it works properly. 15 days from order date to receive what appears to be the correct item. Not acceptable in opinion.

by:

Excellent service & fast delivery! Finish my little project!

by:

Bought here before never had any problems. Quick shipping. Will buy here again.

by:

I purchased 2 galvanized wheels and 2 galvanized hubs. The box they shipped the items in was sealed well with staples and was robust, but the items weren't separate well at all. Whomever packaged the order placed a few pieces of packing paper inside. All the items were tossed around and dinged up. The threaded wheel lugs on the hub were dented and needed to be filed and thread chased. Other than that, the products seem nice, but time will tell.

by:

I order a cast hub the first of the week , two days later a reply was sent, received your order waiting for a shipment to come from Dexter. E-trailer rep said they had a galvanized hub the correct size in stock they could sent right away if I preferred. I said to send the AKIHUB-545-2-G-1K hub. Received in three days even with Covid 19 problem we have today. Good communications, hub fit great.
Thanks E-trailer. Kenneth W.

by:

Price is great. Haven’t mounted yet but all parts look fine. Does NOT come with cotter pin. Extremely fast delivery, 1 day early. So much easier to buy the entire hub than beat the races out of the old hubs and seat new ones.

by:

Ordered two wheels with tires and two hubs. Everything arrived just as described. Can't beat the price, and free shipping too! Everything fit on the trailer perfectly and is ready to go.

by:

Everything needed to replace a hub except the grease and a new cotter pin. High quality parts and everything went together flawlessly. I was looking at a Dexter hub, but they were out of stock. The friendly sales assistant on the phone suggested this one and the price was half as much to boot! Sold! Fast shipping, friendly service.

by:

So, I've have a lot of lesson learnt in the rebuilding of my Boston Whaler trailer, most importantly, measure twice and order once, not the other way around! etrailer has been great at helping me get the correct parts for the project. Finally finished - Many thanks!

by:

I little confusing which parts to buy but after a lot of research And your help I was fortunate to order the right parts first time. Moderately easy to assemble.

by:

Fit like a glove.

by:

My order arrived in the time frame projected. I was kept well informed of the shipment status. The items are very good quality and well packaged. I will order from etrailer again.

by:

Great price,

by:

Exactly as described and super fast del ivery

by:

Only needed one but I replace both glad I did easy job well worth the price wouldn't hesitate to do again

by:

Wonderful hubs! Fits perfectly on the old axle and is a significant upgrade from what it replaced.

  • Galvanized Hub With L44643 Bearings For 8 Inch Wheel
While there is a similar option for you, the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-545-2-G-1K is only for 10" to 12" wheels. For an option that will work with 8" wheels, uses the same L44643 bearings, and is galvanized, what you need is the following: - CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly w/ Case for 2.5K Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized - Pre-Greased # CE13215 The # CE13215 says it is for 2,500 lb axles, but fits the exact same spindle as the...

  • Recommended Replacement Hubs For BT-150 Trailer Idler Hubs
Hey Dave, Looks like the BT-150 uses # L44649 bearings so you would be able to swap the hub out with the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2K Axles # AKIHUB-545-2-G-EZ-2K. This comes with a # 10-9 grease seal, which has a 1.5" inner diameter. I'm seeing that the BT-150 could come with either a 1.25" or 1.5" inner diameter grease seal so you'll want to measure point B on the diagram below with a caliper # PTW80157 to ensure this is the correct fit.

  • Determining Replacement Hubs And Bearings For My 2005 Wesco 128 Trailer
This is an torsion axle on your 2005 Wesco 128. You also think the axles are rated for between 3,000 lbs and 3,500 lbs. Without your specific axle model, I can only speculate which hubs and bearings you need based on the information you provided. For example, we offer a torsion axle rated for this weight, the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with 4" Drop E-Z Lube Spindles - 89" Long - 3,500 lbs, part # 8327812. • Replacement 5 On 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern Boat Trailer Hub for 1 Inch Spindle
Before proceeding, I'd take a moment to confirm the spindle diameter, because there are two different bearing sets that are very close in dimension, so you'll want to be absolutely sure of the measurement you get. We recommend using a digital caliper like part # PTW80157. When dealing with specifying spindle/bearing ID dimensions a ruler or measuring tape typically won't provide enough accuracy which is why using a caliper is preferred. If your spindle measures 1 inch, your hub uses...

For your utility trailer, I recommend the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-545-2-G-1K since you use it for boat launching. Aside from the wheel bolt/lug nut difference the trailer hub part # AKIHUB-545-2-G-1K is exactly the same as your current hub. This has the same 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern and uses the same bearings L44643 for inner and outer. Now what you might run into is an issue attaching your wheels to this hub. Since your old hub used wheel bolts your current wheel may not have the taper where the lug nuts would install so you might need new wheels which if you got me what size wheel you have...

Unfortunately, we aren't able to look up the hubs used by a particular make and model trailer, although I sure wish would could as it would make life a lot easier! The good news is that it's pretty simple to determine which hubs you need. The easiest way to determine which replacement hubs would be needed would be to pull one of the hubs and get the reference number engraved/stamped/etched onto the side of the cages that hold the roller bearings.
