Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Perfect, only place i found that sold this with the heavier 9/16 studs and didnt mark it up an extra 100 bucks because of it ..Great people to do business with

by:

I replace my brakes every 3 or 4 years. It's almost impossible to find a shop that CAN or will turn the inside face where the magnet wears so replacement is the only option. These are a great deal & work well. ALWAYS be sure to get the correct stud diameter when you order!

Still working fine. about due to repack the bearings but Ill wait for warmer weather.

by:

Received fast and it all worked great, still working.

by:

I purchased 4 of these wheel assemblies for my 1993 boat trailer. It was far cheaper to replace the entire assembly than to buy all the peices and put it together myself. The parts were all high quality, and included evrything except the headache of assembly. I'll be back in 20 years or so. :)

The items mentioned are still working well. I have been so pleased with my etrailer purchases that we bought 4 new tires and rims from you this spring. Paid less for 4 tires and rims than the local dealer wanted for two tires, no rims.

by:

Much easier to replace the whole assembly, one year later trailer brakes working great…

by:

Great replacements for worn drums/hubs. Most machine shops can't/won't turn the magnet surface so replacement is the best solution. There are 3 size of studs listed, be sure you order the correct studs for your application. Nice having bearings & seal included in one package. Be sure to clean the machined surfaces in the drum with brake cleaner or lacquer thinner to remove the preservative. Pack the bearings with grease, install the seal and you are ready to go!

by:

I purchased new brakes for my boat trailer, electromagnetic drums and the price and quality were excellent. Had one small issue with the packaging and it was promptly corrected.

I would highly recommend etrailer!!

by:

Worked great easy to install.

by:

A direct replacement for the original hub and drum assemble. Bearings are pre-greased so installation was quick and easy. Shipping was fast, customer service was excellent and reasonably priced.

by:

All of the items we ordered for the goose neck trlr. seemed to be a great product. The hubs, brakes and bearing buddies looked and felt to be a superior product. We would definitely would purchase these items again if needed. Usage and time will tell the whole story of reliability.

by:

Purchased as a spare in case of issues while on long trips with drag car and trailer. New trailer 8 lug and old spare was a 6 lug. Needed one quickly before long trip a week away. You had it in stock and shipped free in two days. Great prompt service. Much appreciated.

by:

The best way to do a brake job on a trailer…replace it all, quick, inexpensive, easy!

by:

At this time everything is running well but soon I’ll have the bearings repacked and will know more. Then I can write a better review

by:

Everything was done easily and delivered on time. Only one problem came about. I opened the package to for the hardware for hubs and one of the seals was damaged very badly and wasn't usable at all. Glad I had one already. Other than that all was good

  • Recommended Replacement Brake Hubs and Brakes for a Dexter 7K Axle
I wasn't able to find anything relating to that part number and since you're unsure of what you have I'd just recommend swapping the entire hub to make everything easier. You're just going to need to choose the hubs that have your current wheel studs. For 1/2" studs with a grease cap you'll want # 8-219-4UC3, For 1/2" studs with an E-Z lube cap you'll want # 8-219-4UC3-EZ, For 1/2" studs with an oil bath hub you'll want # 8-219-9UC3, For 9/16" studs with a grease cap you'll want # AKHD-865-7-1-K, For...

These brake assemblies are side specific and are labeled for you. They are self adjusting after the initial adjustment at installation. So the brand is etrailer brand, but I believe you are likely asking the manufacturer, which is AxleTek for the 7K hub and drum you asked about: - Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 7,000-lb Axles - 12" Diameter - 8 on 6-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-865-7-1-K The # AKHD-865-7-1-K comes pre-greased and includes the bearings, races, and grease seal so you're all set with this hub and drum combo.

  • Replacement Hubs for 7,000 Pound Axle With 15123 Outer and 25580 Inner Bearings
The answer to your question depends on the bolt pattern you need. We have one hub that actually uses a # 15123 bearing which is the # 8-174-5UC3. This has a 5-spoke utility bolt pattern. More than likely you have an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern on your trailer. If that is the case you can use the # AKHD-865-7-1-K. The # 14125A outer bearing has the same 1.25" inner diameter so it will fit your spindle. However, I recommend measuring to find the inner diameter of your grease seal. The included...

  • Recommended Hub and Drum Assemblies and Brakes for 7,000 Pound Triple Axle Trailer
To determine exactly which hubs you need you'll need to find your bearing numbers. Most likely you have # 25580 and # 14125A but verify to be sure. If these are correct you'll next want to find the diameter of your wheel studs and if you have E-Z Lube axles. If the studs are 9/16 inch use # AKHD-865-7-1-EZ-K for E-Z Lube axles and # AKHD-865-7-1-K for standard axles. For 1/2 inch studs instead use # AKHD-865-7-2-EZ-K for E-Z Lube or # AKHD-865-7-2-K for standard axles. Then you need...

These assemblies come with the bearings and seals to fit your measurements, only taking an educated guess on the seal based on your other measurements. These hubs have zinc-enriched paint to add durability and resist corrosion and they come with the bearings, races, grease seal, grease cap, and lug nuts.

  • Comparing etrailer 7K Trailer Hub and Drum Assemblies with 8 on 6-1/2 Bolt Pattern
The biggest difference between etrailer hub and drum assembly # AKHD-865-7-2-K and # AKHD-865-7-1-K is the wheel studs. Assembly # AKHD-865-7-2-K uses wheel studs that are 1/2" diameter x 1-5/16" long. Assembly # AKHD-865-7-1-K uses wheel studs that are 9/16" diameter x 1-5/8 long. So you would want to use the one that matches what the wheels require. I have linked video reviews of both for you.
