Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Ordered Hub, brake assemblies, and bearings to redo bearings and brakes on a 3500 lb. dual axle trailer. Efficient and knowledgeable ordering staff, parts arrived in 3 days. Seemed to be very good quality. Price was excellent. I found the place where I order trailer wheel, bearing, hub, and brake supplies.

by:

Great products and prices. These 3,500 lb brake drum/hubs appear to be well made and will be used to complete a new axle I've had a few years to construct a tandem axle trailer. I plan to order more of these for other axles as well. The 4 lug X 4" BC hubs are also well made and will be used on a hydraulic log splitter and small yard waste dump trailer to replace one-piece wheel hubs. This will allow me to use some surplus 8" tires on 4 lug wheels I have left over from some small trailer projects.

by:

Came faster then expected, which was great, because I needed to get these installed before our big strip in a week! When they came, I was pleasantly surprised to see they had already been pre-greased and the bearings installed with the grease seal..all I had to do, was give give the brakes a little clean up, lube the backing plate where the brake shoes ride and a little brake adjustment to get the new drums on. From start to finish I was done under two hours. Thanks Etrailer for your great service as always!
Norm

Very fast shipping Product looks good , but the boxes need something done to them so they don’t tear open during shipping. One of mine was completely open just a couple light fiber shipping straps would go a long ways in reinforcing these light weight boxes ,
I really liked the little plastic bearing protector’s overall very happy with my purchase and wouldn’t hesitate to order again.

You mentioned that the hub assemblies were too small and I wanted to ask what size did you need? What is the weight capacity of your axle?

We sent back all the parts because they would not fit. We ended up buying from somewhere local but etrailer was not an issue! It was us ordering the wrong parts and not fitting. Would order from you guys again definitely, but our older trailer was hard to find springs and hubs to fit.

The Brake drum kits and brake pads fit great,
were easy to install and work excellent. I should have ordered spares, next time. Great service, price , and quick shipping, thanks.

by:

Extremely easy experience. I had just replaced the bearings, races, and seals about a year ago but didn’t think about the drum itself for the brakes. After finding these fully assembled, pre greased, new center caps, even new lug nuts… it was a no brainer. For the price and the convenience, this was well worth it. 10/10 highly recommend! Will definately be placing another order soon for our other trailer.

by:

Fit great , no issue ,am happy.

by:

great that the bearings are already greased but SAD that it did not come with the grease caps. Box was taped back together. I would send pictures but that part of the website is not working for me.

by:

I have been very satisfied with this product. Installation was easy, Everything worked as suggested and the website videos were very helpful. I use this trailer a lot and have no complaints so far.

Overall a pretty good kit just missing one small item, and that is a new cotter key for the castle nut. Its odd such a complete kit is missing this small and cheap part. Would be 5 stars if they included it.

  • Looking For Replacement For AL-KO-7230 Hub On Old Bison 2 Horse Bumper Pull Trailer
Hello Chris, thanks for reaching out. Based on my research, it looks like the AL-KO-7230 is a hub for a 3,500 lb axle with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern. We do offer a replacement for this, and for that I recommend the following: - Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb Axles - 10" Diameter - 6 on 5-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-655-35-K

  • Replacement Hub, Bearings, and Grease Seal for 3,500 lb Dexter Axle
You are correct that is a 3,500 lb axle. If you want a bearing kit the # BK2-100 you looked at is the right one. This comes with a # L44649 outer and # L68149 inner bearing along with a # 58846 (10-19) grease seal. If you want a replacement idler hub you can use the # AKIHUB-655-35-K or for a hub and drum assembly the # AKHD-655-35-K. Both of these have a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern.

  • Replacement Wheel Stud For AxleTek BD2-655 Drum
I recommend using the Replacement Trailer Hub Wheel Stud # 165981, instead of # DX98FR. The Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-35-K you reference, calls for 1/2"-1-1/4" wheel studs. The Replacement Trailer Hub Wheel Stud # 165981 is the closest I was able to find, and measures 1/2"-1-1/2", however this should work just fine.

The correct replacement brake assemblies for your B44EA-22 is the part # AKEBRK-35-SA which is for a 3,500 lb axle and is self adjusting. Then for a matching hub/drum that has a 6 bolt pattern on it you'd need the # AKHD-655-35-K and you'd be set.

Dennis, many times Dexter hubs will fit on a Lippert axle, but Lippert does have a few axles out there with special spindle sizes. For your Lippert 4,400 lb axle, you can use the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-35-K. Your 4,400 lb axle does use the same 3,500 lb axle hubs so these'll work great. These hubs also come pre-greased, includes all of the bearings, races, seals, grease cap and lug nuts.

Hi Roman, Thanks for the photo and what you have there is a Lippert 4,400 lb axle. Those use the same bearings and hubs as 3,500 lb axles so you'll use a 3,500 lb hub, though the brakes are going to be 4,400 lb brakes (they'll still fit in the drum though). So here is exactly what you need: - Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-35-K - Lippert Electric Trailer Brakes - 4.4K Lippert Axles # LC66WD - Brake Mounting Hardware # BRKH10B The hub and drum comes with the bearings and seal...

Good question but no, the 4-bolt brake flange is not a requirement to install the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb Axles # AKHD-655-35-K. The hub will still fit your spindle and install just fine, but you will need that 4-bolt brake flange if you were also installing brakes that fit the hub like the Dexter Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # 23-312-313 or Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-26-27.

You'll want to verify these are correct before purchasing. If I'm right about the bearing numbers the correct replacement hub and drum assembly is # AKHD-655-35-K for standard spindles and # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K for E-Z lube spindles.
