Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

The part was exactly as described, and the customer support was excellent. I will definitely recommend etrailer to everyone I know,
and I will be ordering from them again in the future.

I ordered drums to replace the old 4 lug 9.44 inch spacing the old drums had. It was a perfect match. My only problem was the old fiberglass travel trailer I was restoring had a wheel well that would only except a 25 inch tall tire at the most. The drums I installed were five lug with 5 in spacing. Only one rim would fit and that was a 15 inch. So naturally I freaked out! I called etrailer and spoke with Ashley. Ashley was very helpful and knowledgeable. I called some of my friends about my possibilities. I was able to find tires that were shorter then 205's etrailer is extremely helpful!

by:

Very easy install for my 3500lb trailer axle. Once I got my brake shoes assembly on these took about another 15minutes to put the 2 grease up wheel bearing in. I recommend getting the bearing packer that will make the job of greasing up the wheel bearing much easier. The whole job with the 2 brake shoes assembly and 2 brake rotor/bearing took just a little over an 1hour. Awesome price on etrailer. Thanks again for the fast and free shipping.

Great pro-active customer support. A pleasure working with a company that knows how to actually do online business. The best I have found. I had a couple of questions before the purchase and your tech support was spot on, asking the correct questions, giving the correct information.
Now to the actual product - the drums fit perfect (thanks to the questions and answers from your tech support). The bearings fit the shaft perfectly. I put your companies brake assembly onto a shaft that didn't originally have brakes. All of it lines up great. I was a bit surprised that there wasn't a keeper, a shaft nut, or the nuts for the brake bolts. But that is a small item to pick up at the local hardware store. Thanks again!

by:

I just wanted to say thanks to B. for all help she provide. The trailer hubs and drums fit perfectly.
Thanks again.

by:

The parts work good, don't trust the emailed paper lug gauge, buy a good one.

by:

This worked great on my trailer. It was a breeze to install. I cleaned the inside with brake cleaner while the seal was still in and then opened it up and slid it on the spindle. Tightened the castle nut and pinned it pop on the dust cover and done. Smooth. I love how fast etrailer ships and the quality of their parts does not disappoint.

by:

Perfect fit and it's painted

by:

I also bought the self adjusting electric trailer brake kit with the trailer hub and drum assembly. I am very pleased and satisfied with how easily everything went together with no problems. Everything you need comes with the new hub drum assembly. I now have the piece of mind to tow safely with a new and fully functional brake system on my trailer. Everything is very high quality and easy to assemble. I highly recommend it!

by:

The parts were exactly what I needed.

by:

The hub assembly I received worked perfectly and came quickly.

by:

Funny you should ask, I am camped here at Grand Rivers, Ky and brought my harley in the trailer with the new brakes you are asking about. They are working great and have made it much safer to haul my motorcycle or side by side. Very pleased with the product and level of support I received getting them installed. Thanks again for checking, all is working great.

by:

I got this pair of brakes to install on my 16' equipment trailer yesterday and installed both on rear axle today in about 2 hours and everything works as it should. Note; every part fit perfect, my one suggestion to improve this kit would be if you added the 8 7/16" nuts and lock washers but you have a winner.

by:

Quality product. Product was back ordered for some time. In the midst of a messed up economy. E traile came through and my trailer now has new hubs and breakers.

by:

I would like to thank Ms Bailey B for her tireless, knowledgeable kindness and paitence in helping Me get the right items. She went above & beyond the expected customer service . I am appreciative of the quality products I get from Etrailer and look forward to purchasing from you for my future meeds!
Thank You Team Etrailer & Ms Bailey B for your commitment to excellence!

by:

The drums and backing plate fit like it was suppose to, the dust caps were a little sloppy, once I got them on some fit very snugly but I had a couple that did not.

by:

Ordered the wrong size trailer hub the first time. No problem returning. Reordered the correct size and it fit perfect! Prices are comparable or lower than other sellers. Shipping was quick. Thanks!

by:

Have had zero issues with these on our car trailer! Would buy again!

by:

Haven't looked at it yet. But Ashley was a blessing, GIVE HER A RAISE. She knows the products, and what you need to get the Job done.

by:

The products are fine but as a dealer, these constant messages are annoying. We now buy from other sources after repeatedly asking for the follow up messages to stop.

by:

Installed them this morning and they were perfict. I recieved them really quick and they were boxed really well. Thanks Chuck

by:

Great customer service, parts worked as they should. Would order again with no problem.

by:

I picked up one of these for a spare to take with me on road trips when I have my trailer. Always good to have spare parts on long trips. Shipping was fast and prompt! Thank you etrailer!

by:

Awesome that they were ready to install. No having to get all greasy.

by:

There hub an brakes fit my trailer just like they should excellent fit

  • How Much Grease is Required for Pre-Greased Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly Installation
Hi Baer; since the # AKHD-550-35-K came pre-greased there is no need to add additional grease at this time. These come with the right amount of so they're ready to go once installed. However, if you want to add some extra grease it won't hurt and might give you peace of mind about it. I will also say you want to make sure you're extra careful so you don't blow out the grease seal. To use the E-Z lube grease zerk you slowly pump grease into the fitting while rotating the wheel. When grease...

  • How to Determine Replacement Hub Assembly for PacWest Utility Trailer
It looks like PacWest has a number of different utility trailers with different capacities. In order to determine if the # AKIHUB-550-35-K will fit you are going to need to identify your axle or check your bearings. Assuming you have a 3,500 lb axle, more than likely this will fit. You could check your axle tag for identification and call PacWest or you could use your VIN number. The other option is to pull off your existing hubs and see which bearings you have now. • What Brand/Kind Of Grease Is Compatible With The Pre-Greased Hubs AKHD-550-35-K
The grease that comes in our pre-greased hubs like the # AKHD-550-35-K is a lithium based grease. For bearing grease I recommend either the LubriMatic Multi-purpose lithium grease # L11315 or the LubriMatic LMX Industrial Strength Grease # L11390. This is what we generally use when we install bearings at our shop here in Missouri. That said, grease does not need to be brand specific, and you can use any lithium based bearing grease.

  • Replacement Hub Not Fitting As Expected
The brake assembly and brake hub will not meet flush, but they will be close. I would double check that you have the correct parts and that all races and seals oriented correctly and fully seated. Then reassemble and tighten crown nut down until tight, then back off to where cotter pin slots line up. At that point you should be properly assembled. I have attached a photo of an assembled brake assembly and brake hub for you to compare to. You will see that there is a gap.
