Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Aluminum Hand Rail for 5 Step Scissor Stair

Today, we're going to review part number AHR5. This is the Brophy Aluminum Hand Rail for our five-step scissor steps. I have an example of the Brophy Five-Step Scissor Steps right here. Basically, this hand rail will go right to there and then up to the RV. Basically, the way this would attach is on the RV side. It includes the RV mounting bracket with the screws and the pin.

Basically, what you would do is as you can see this mounting bracket. It has a square connector here and you would mount that towards pointing down, and that's going to be where you would install. That would install right like that and then you would take the pin and insert it to the hole. There we go. Then you would clip that on and that would be mounted to the RV.

The other end would basically just clamp to the bottom stair using this bracket bolt and spin-on clip. Basically, what you would do is just to give an example, I'll show you up here to be easier to see, is right where these two brackets are. This will go with the bolt in the middle. This will go right between them and then you would slide on your hand rail, and then put the wing nut on and tighten it down, so basically on the very bottom step right down here. The end of this hand rail has a hole drilled into it.

Just line it up. Put the bracket on there. Let's lift this up. There we go. That would slide through and just put your wing nut on and tighten it down.

That would clamp it to the bottom step. With that connected to the RV, that would pretty much give you the hand rail. This will add extra support when using the stairs. It's easy to remove. It clamps to the existing bottom stair and it includes the RV mounting bracket. It does fold flat for convenient storage. This is the perfect length for the five-step scissor steps. That should do it for review on part number AHR5. .

These work great. We use them for our marching band semi trailer. One set for kids going up and one set for kids coming down. They fold up small and pack away easy. Been using for over a year and holding up very well.

I submitted a review on my purchase, but I wanted to tell you the story of these stairs. I installed them in my parents house. My parents are getting older (in their 80's) and needed a safer way to get in and out of their attic space. Before the scissor stairs, they were using a step ladder and seemed a bit unsafe. These stairs are perfect for my parents...easy to expand and mount (two person job for them) and the railing is perfect. light weight and very sturdy! I only posted the photo of the stairs but wanted you to see my parents in action. They are soooo happy.

I have purchased items from etrailer in the past, but this is by far the best purchase I have ever made.

I don't like scissor stairs. I have a cab over pop up truck camper and scissor stairs don't work without modifying my tail gate. I attached the hand rail as instructed to a "Little Giant" 4 step ladder. This allows me to take along a nice step ladder also. For extra stability I made a ground spike that the bottom portion of the hand rail can slip over.
Overall this hand rail is easily adaptable to a few different configurations. Straight forward no frills hand rail that does the trick.

Note: You need to pull the bottom plug from the hand rail if your using a ground spike, which by the way is a great idea if I do say so myself. Also the screws were about a half inch to long, They went all the way trough to the inside of the camper. had to get some shorter ones.

Awesome hand rail install in seconds

by:

railing is square - I am considering sanding the edges to give a smoother feel (less sharp). Main thing is my spouse likes it.

by:

  • Fitment of 5-step Brophy Camper Scissor Steps for 39 Entry Height
For your 39" entry height, the 5-step Brophy Camper Scissor Steps, # AS25 will work just fine. I prefer this to the 4-step for your entry height; I think you will find these steps to be a great addition to your camper and they will not be setting at an awkward angle. If you want to a handrail, I recommend the Aluminum Hand Rail for 5 Step Scissor Stair, # AHR5.

The Brophy Camper Scissor Steps # AS25 weigh 33 lbs. They can be folded up, as shown in the attached photo, to make handling them easier since you will be taking them on and off. I've also added a link to a video review of this product for you to take a look at.

  • Do Fold-Out Steps Need to be Removed When Mounting Brophy Scissor Steps
That is a good question, and you can leave your current fold-out steps up and in the folded position when installing the mounting bracket of the Brophy Scissor Steps. The reason is, the bracket will be installed just underneath the door so as long as when your steps are folded up there is no interference in that area the Brophy steps will be a great option. I added a photo for you a customer sent in which shows the bracket and steps installed so you can get an idea of how they mount. The...

  • Hand Rail that Can Attach to Side of RV
I am not sure what bumper hand rail you have now but you could use the Stromberg Lend a Hand part # AM-533 as a way to help get in and out of your RV. This is a pretty large handle that folds up against the side of RV when not in use. This can attach to basically any RV sidewall and I attached an install video link to this page as well.

  • Can a Handrail Be Added to the Brophy Camper Scissor Steps Part # AS25
Absolutely, in order to add a handrail to the Brophy Camper Scissor Steps part # AS25 you will want to use the Aluminum Hand Rail part # AHR5. This handrail is easy to install and is made of a lightweight aluminum. I have attached an installation video of the rail for you as well.

  • Replacement Steps for Bigfoot Truck Camper on Ford F-350
We can set you up with new steps so that you love your whole camper setup, steps included. Based on the information you provided, I recommend taking a look at the Brophy Camper Scissor Steps # AS25. This is a 5-step assembly that can expand to between 40" and 48" and have a 24" width, which is the widest size available. These steps have a non-slip tread and self-adjust for stability. There is a handrail # AHR5 available for additional support. The same steps are available in a 4-step assembly...

  • Recommended Hand Rail For TorkLift 4-Step RV Steps On A 2022 Winnebago RBS
Since you have Torklift 4-step RV steps like the TorkLift GlowStep Revolution Scissor Steps w/ Landing Gear # TLA8004, I recommend using the: -Folding Hand Rail for Brophy RV Scissor Stairs - 4 Steps # AHR4 instead. The Aluminum Hand Rail for 5 Step Scissor Stair # AHR5 that you initially inquired about will only fit scissor steps that have 5 steps. The Folding Hand Rail # AHR4 easily installs inside your RV with the included mounting bracket, and will clamp to either side of your stairs. Attached...

  • What Size Of Hand Rail Do You Need To Accommodate For A Tailgate Mounted Pull Out 4 Step System
Nice question, I did some digging to see what will work for you. **Aluminum Hand Rail for 5 Step Scissor Stair # AHR5. I recommend going with the 5 step hand rail. Not knowing the exact set up, I feel this is the safest option as you can trim the rail down to fit if needed.

  • Using Brophy AS05 Aluminum Scissor Steps to Access 44 inch High Walkway
The Brophy # AS05 Aluminum Scissor Steps you mentioned can be used for heights between 40-48 inches. Since your 44 inch height is right in the middle of that range, the steps would work great for you. If the steps were at a 90 degree angle to the area you are wanting the steps to access, you'll need some type of platform at the top of the steps. The steps have a 250 lb capacity. For safety, I'd also recommend a hand rail like # AHR5.

I may have a solution for you, however the Stromberg Carlson Econo Porch Trailer Step with Handrail # EHS-103-R referenced in your question is not available in a 5 step assembly. • Selecting The Correct Handrail For Folding Steps Used To Get Into Truck Bed Camper
Thank you for the image Mike. You are most likely going to need the 5 Step Hand Rail # AHR5 but I do recommend measuring to see where the handrail is going to end up. First of all the post for the handrail places the bottom of the rail 43" from the ground. The rail is also 57" long so you will want to see where these points meet on your application to determine if it will attach to your steps and if it will be too tall. The 4-Step Hand Rail # AHR4 is going to also have a 43" post but...
