Advent Air Air Distribution Box

This air distribution box with a built-in thermostat works with Advent Air AC units (sold separately) and ductless RV air conditioner systems. The dial on the left controls the 3 fan speed settings, which let you increase or decrease the airflow. It also controls the 3 cool settings and the heat setting. The dial on the right allows you to set the temperature. Additionally, there are adjustable registers on the front and back of the box. These can be tilted up, down, or side-to-side for directing the air where needed. The removable air filter prevents dust and dirt from building up on the fan blades.

I picked up a 2001 R Vision trailer. The AC did not work. I purchased this AC through etrailer. It shipped faster than expected. All items came as expected Sarah, who I spoke to on the phone gave me some great advice and recommendations. The AC is a do it yourself project The ac installed very simply Instructions were very clear. The AC blows ice cold. Install and removal between two and three hours. The fitment of the AC was perfect To do any extra cutting or wiring it was all simple plug and play. Follow the instructions step-by-step and torque it down to 45 inch pounds.

by:

I recently installed the Advent AC unit. Am very pleased with the unit. Camping last week with temps as high as 33 C and it kept our motorhome very comfortable. Also, thanks to the staff that helped me. Very pleasant, helpful, and knowledgable.

Still working great. No issues at this point. Would purchase again.

Originally submitted a complaint of my brand new Advent unit not working, A/C Compressor kicks on but no fan operation. I was told that there's been issues with Advent not operating properly with factory Coleman controls even though I purchased an adapter harness. Per eTrailer recommendation after I explained the unit has a bad blower motor, I was told I need to order Advents overhead control box that's designed for the Advent unit and guess what??? The blower motor is still inoperative.

by:

Very easy install
It needs to get hotter
here in Washington state for me to actually give it a good test. I put it in our old 28 year-old 16 foot Nash travel trailer. Now this trailer is my hunting rig. We bought bigger one for our retirement trailer.

I’m sorry to leave such a low review, but I’m fairly unhappy overall.
Originally my order set to be delivered on Thursday June 13, only to find disappointment on Friday morning…no delivery. After checking my tracking, I learned it was due to be shipped on the 14 and arrive on the 17. While it did in fact arrive on June 17, the box was open and only held closed by binding straps. Additionally, the unit had damage to it where it had apparently been dropped or something.
I’d very much like for a representative to reach out to me and discuss options to make this right. Although the unit does seem to work, I didn’t pay for a damaged unit, but reluctantly installed it anyway because I need cold air in my rv. It was 105 degrees over the weekend in South Georgia and live in my rv full time. Fortunately the unit works, but I don’t feel good about paying something more than ‘scratch and dent pricing’
I’ll gladly revisit the idea of updating this review after trailer reaches out and makes it right.
I realize that things happen and I don’t expect perfection because I’m a reasonable person, but I do expect this to be made right. Thank you in advance.

by:

Installed this ac while on a 3 week RV trip cross country. I somehow managed to destroy my old ac from a low branch and had etrailer send new one to one of my trip stops. The installation was straightforward and the unit cools wonderfully. Very happy with retailer and with the unit itself!

by:

Does not cool well at all. Have to use portable air conditioner to help keep camper cool. Would not recommend this product at all.

by:

This was a great replacement for the dometic oem unit in my hybrid camper. The ability r flow is even from front to back, the oem unit favored the rear exit so my back bunk was always cold and the front was hot. Great unit, easy install and has worked well for the past year.

by:

It works so great ...but I didn't plan it out good enuff as my airstream is 31 feet and I really wish I would of got the next bigger one in the heat of the summer its just not big enuff...thank u ...blows so cold tho ...the heat strip is light on heat

by:

Love this product. I bought this to replace my carrier a/c unit because my thermostat wasn't working properly Boy, does it blow out the coldest air. I would recommend this product to anyone. Made the right decision, would buy again in the future.

The best unit I ever bought. Do recommend this unit. Will buy again if my old unit dont function.

by:

The directions need to be more precise. The copper wire coming out of the bottom is NOT a ground wire. It is the temperature sensor. It should be marked as such with a label.

by:

My contact, William, was awesome and worked with me to have my product delivered as quickly as possible. Would totally recommend e-trailers and will use them again in the future.

by:

arrived ontime and second one I have bought. Love working with eTrailer

by:

The air box that you sent me had already been installed by someone. Whoever installed it had damaged the unit to the point of not being usable. They put the unit back in the box without using the original packaging that was enclosed. You for some unknown reason sent the damaged unit to me without proper packing. When I received the box I noticed that contents were loose and rattling around. After opening the box, it was obvious to me what had happened. I realize that mistakes are made, but this is inexcusable. I have requested a replacement unit and have been informed that it should arrive on Wednesday. I will be shipping the damaged unit back. Please don't ship- it to someone else.

I am sorry that you received the unit in such a condition. I can assure you that we will not be shipping that unit out to anyone else. I see that your new unit should have arrived by now. I would love to hear your updated feedback on your experience, and/or your thoughts on the product.

by:

Me thinking that the distribution box with the the thermostat was a remote. When I received it I called in and the fellow was very helpful got me hooked up with the unit with the controls on the box and when it arrived and I opened it that's when all hell broke loose. The 1st thing I noticed was the metal part was bent pretty bad, but me being an old body man I'm thinking hammering it out, well that was the 1st mistake , then after I installed that part, installing the cover should of been child's play but that's when I wished I would of sent it back, but no. The main and most concerning issue is, after installing the cover went to install the knobs and that's when I seen yet another issue, both of the switch shafts where bent, upon further inspection the shaft on both switches has been pushed into the switch, the knobs would not stay on so I had to glue em on. At this point it is installed and working OK but it is not rite. I do understand should of sent it back but I was determined to get it installed for an upcoming race. Do as you wish with this info.O' the case itself has a Crack in one corner.

  • Complete AC System With An Advent 13.5K BTU Low Profile AC Unit
Hello Tim. We can definitely set you up with a complete AC system with an Advent low profile unit. We currently do not offer these parts as a package, but you can purchase all of the exact same components separately. To answer your question, yes, the same air handler will work with the low-profile unit. Here is what you will need for the complete AC system: - Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner - 13,500 Btu - White # ADV79FR - Air Distribution Box w/ Built-In Thermostat for Advent...

  • What Is The Smallest AC Unit For Adding AC System To A Cargo Trailer/Camper
Hello Tyson. The smallest AC unit we offer is the Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner and this will be a great option for you. Since this is a smaller trailer you can definitely get away with a 13,500 BTU unit. These AC units require the roof to be between 2-1/2" and 5" thick, so please do keep that in mind during your build. First is the manually controlled Air Distribution Box # ACDB. This has the manual dial you will switch on and off as needed. That said, I am not sure how old your current unit is, but a new upgraded distribution box might be a good idea. • Recommended Replacement For A 13.5K GE RV AC Unit
We recommend the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ACM135 to replace the GE 13.5K RV AC unit. The advent unit has the same 13.5K BTU rating. You will also need a new distribution box and/or thermostat. You can use # ACDB for manual control or the # ACRG15 which comes with a wall mounted thermostat. Advent sells their start capacitor # ACMSCKIT separately, and we do recommend picking up one of those as well. You also have the option of adding a heat strip # ACMHD.

We can definitely help set you up. For a 14' x 8' enclosed trailer, I believe a 13,500 BTU unit would be sufficient. I recommend the Advent Air # ACM135. Advent makes a solid AC unit, which will fit perfectly in the 14" hatch on the roof. Keep in mind the roof does need to be between 2-1/2" and 5" thick in order to install this unit. • Is The Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner # ADV79FR Compatible With The # ACDB
Hey Jon, Yes, the Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner # ADV79FR is compatible with the Air Distribution Box # ACDB. This would have the controls on the air distribution box instead of a wall mounted thermostat. We don't currently have any systems with a wireless remote. You'll want to doublecheck the BTU rating of your current unit and make sure you have a 13,500BTU rating. If you have a 15,000BTU rating or you just want to upgrade you can go with the # ADV29FR instead.

  • How To Make An Advent Air Heat Strip Work With An Advent Unit In A Dometic System
If your Dometic controller doesn't have a port for the Advent Air Heat Strip # ACMHD to plug into then the only way to make it work would be to swap out the air distribution box/controller with either the manual control # ACDB or wall control # ACRG15. This would give you a compatible controller for the heat strip to plug into and would essentially fully swap you over from a Dometic system to an Advent Air system.
