This is my second order with etrailer. Both experiences with your company have been very positive. The knowledge and friendliness -along with following up on orders and satisfaction have been much appreciated. Brittany, the customer representative, is a huge asset to etrailer.

@Raymond Great to hear. Thank you for the update.

Plug and play! Very easy to install on our Santa Fe. Works as described, and has performed well for one year so far.

by:

Quick and simple. Able to retain original plug and added a seven way

I ordered this product for my 97 Chevy 1500 Pickup. I use it to haul a two horse trailer made in 2007 with new plug adapter. I am female and know absolutely nothing about vehicle/trailer wiring. Hooked it up, everything worked great. Did not have to change a thing. The 97 Chevy is my farm truck and is not used very often. Did not have to touch a thing, plugged right in and went on down the road. Fast shipping.

Still works great!

by:

The 4-pin to 7-pin adapter doesn't work. I'll have to fix the wiring. None of the trailer lights work. The ground in the 4-way cable was clipped. The outside ground wire was the only one connected - not what I wanted/needed. I had to replace the flat 4-wire connector to get the wiring I wanted. I expexlpected a flat 4-wire connector to round connector adapter. That isn’t what was delivered.

This adapter is designed to make it easier to hardwire a 7-way plug with all of the functions on your vehicle if you already have the 4-pole flat. If you only needed the 4-pole flat functions, you can simply ground the white wire and tuck the other wires away.

by:

I think it’s
What I needed

by:

A very nice, high quality, well-made product, except when I had trouble with lights working, I traced the white ground wire from the 4-pin flat plug, inside the plastics wire wrap, and discovered that it stopped half way inside the wrap — it was not connected to the ground in the round 7-pin plug. It relied on the separate white grounding pigtail to the 7-pin round for the ground.
I spliced the White from the 4-pin flat plug, into the white pigtail to the 7-pin round, sealed and rewrapped it, and now I have continuous ground between the flat 4 and the round 7. Now I have plug-in ground from 4 to 7.

by:

For this adapter to work, for me, I had to disassemble the plug and connect the "Flat Four" ground to the 7 pin plug. Logically if you have a flat four plug you are not going to be running trailer brakes and don't need the hard ground. As it was sold the lights don't work, which is all I needed. My connector runs direct to my truck harness. I don't leave this adapter connected. When I tow the trailer, in question, I plug in the hitch, this harness adapter and go. When done I unplug the harness adapter, the hitch, and throw them back in the truck.

by:

Great product, awesome price!
This adapter
allows me to use my 18ft utility trailer with my 4Runner with light loads so I do not have to get out my big truck, which saves me alot of hassle!
The 4Runner has a 4 flat connector and my trailer has the 7 round...perfect marriage of utility and convenience!
I deducted one star only because there are no diagrams for the extra four wires. (B+, Brakes, Aux and Ground) Granted, it easy enough to ring out with a multi meter and I will not even be using them...however, they should still be identified either on the wiring or package labelling.
Still, fantastic solution and under $20!

I boat a boat that came with a trailer that had the 7 way round trailer plug, which of course doesn't work with my 4-way flat plug on my Jeep that I use with my other boat. So, I went by the big [trailer rental] store in town to buy an adapter. However they only had adapters that assumed the round plug was on your vehicle and the 4-way flat was on the trailer and I had the exact opposite problem. So, I went to [big online retailer] where I usually can find most anything and they didn't have an adapter either.

A Google search found etrailer.com and they had exactly what I needed. I ordered it and had it a few days later. I was a little apprehensive when I hooked it all up, but it works flawlessly! Now I can easily hookup either boat and I avoided having a second connection installed or modifying one of the trailer plugs. I'm very satisfied with a solution that cost much less than either of my alternatives!

by:

I have installed the connector on my Cadillac XT5. I had the 4 plug connector already installed with a blue wire for un-locking the solonoid on the brakes then I installed all wires to match the colors of the 5 & 7 pole. I cut out a hole in the plastic bumper cover and installed the connector with four screws.

You could make a new product like this one for the Cadillac XT5 connectors for all boat trailers, this is an easy hook up to the XT5, SRX, and other GM cars. I now use the round type 5-7 pole connector for my boat trailer to lock out the brakes when backing up my trailer.

by:

I think this will work nicely for what I have in mind. My plan is to relocate my car hauler from my home in Arizona to my home in California. The trailer weighs in at 2,000 pounds and my 2010 explorer has a tow rating of 3,500 pounds. The car hauler has electric trailer brakes on it that I will not need when I haul it empty. So I bought this adapter which will allow me to use all the light functions without the trailer brakes. This will save on fuel costs for the big truck to stay at home this time. Thank you for all you do!

by:

I choose this particular cover because here in Iowa we have every kind of weather - sunny & hot, rainy & humid, cold & snowy, and usually windy. The Adco tyvek cover has done well so far on my Aliner hardside popup, as it breathes well enough that the camper has always stayed dry inside. I project 3 years use before replacement, and will replace with same model.

by:

Made converting my 2011 pathfinder from 4 flat to 7 round very easy.
The one I ordered was delayed, and they gave me a substitute that was even cheaper.
Great company.

No issues at all. Everything still good

by:

This has served me well and done an admirable job. I purchased a mounting piece for it and mounted it on the truck.

by:

The Website is very easy to use. Looking up what you need is difficult on any site because you have to enter the correct description of what you need. I appreciate the quality of the products. I really appreciate the descriptions and help videos. Everything I need in one site. The pricing is very competitive and shipping is fair. With this connector I can add the brake controller with ease. Thank You!

by:

In this day and age of scams, baseless promises, and much less than quality products and misleading web sites boasting of claims never realized, it has been an extreme pleasure doing business with etrailer. The Mighty Cord Trailer Connector Adapter was exactly what was displayed on the web site and the quality of the connector was "top of the line". Shipping was just as stated and efficiently shipped at a very reasonable cost. To say the least I am very pleased with etrailer service and their products. I highly recommend doing business with this firm. Ted Johnson

by:

I can always find the products I need, at the best prices, on etrailer.com. The items I purchased were shipped the same day, I promptly received emails about order status and tracking, and the items always arrived on-time, quickly, and in great condition (even the hitch). Etrailer is now the first place I go to look for towing equipment.

by:

I have an older truck with simpler connector and no trailer brake controls, and a newer truck for the robust brake connector. After extensive internet searching for an adapter, I again came to etrailer.com and ordered/received a robust part that works great.

by:

It fits... but please tell me what bracket I need now to actually mount the device to my Jeep JKU. Would have been nice to know in advance instead of wasting another week waiting for another part.

Mighty Cord recommends the # A10-9394VP bracket. The bracket is typically best mounted to the underside of the bumper.

by:

Great product - super easy to install and has worked perfectly for over a year - recommended! etrailer has great service and the best prices around on this stuff - my go-to for trailer parts.

by:

Product arrived via snail mail. Product did not work upon arrival. After examination determined the ground wire was not connected at the factory. Once wire was stripped and properly connected it did work. Poor quality control at the factory.

by:

As always etrailer delivered a high quality adapter plug for my tent trailer which I will be pulling with my sienna. It appears to be high quality and arrived in a timely manner. Thank you.

  • Recommended 7-Way to 4-Way Adapter Just for Trailer Lights
If you don't care about brakes all you need is the Mighty Cord Trailer Connector Adapter item # A10-7084VP. You would plug your Honda's 4-way into the adaptor's 4-way and then plug it into the 7-way of your trailer. The lights will function but nothing else will. You will want to tape up the extra wires or cut them off if you have no intention of ever using them. This is the simplest and least expensive way to do what you are wanting.

  • Which Wire of Mighty Cord Trailer Connector Adapter # A10-7084VP Is for Charging Battery
The black wire of the 7-way adapter part # A10-7084VP that you referenced is normally the circuit associated with charging a trailer battery. That said the yellow wire could be too as long as you wired up the trailer to match. From the adapter to your vehicle battery you will need to run 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) through a breaker like part # 9510.

  • How to Mount 7 Way to 2019 Subaru Outback With Hidden Cross Tube Hitch
I understand the frustration, manufacturers are making hitches more hidden and sleek. It's nice having the cross bar hidden, but it does make it challenging to mount wiring because that's the traditional spot. You can route the 4 pole wire out to the bumper through a grommet that is under the spare tire. I have done that many times to get the wires out towards the hitch, you'll just want to make sure the wire is protected and to seal the grommet up with some silicone # LT37467. You can...

Since you won't be using the blue brake output wire or the black 12V power wire you can simply tape them off. However, you will still need to attach the ground wire.
