Video Transcript for Detailed Breakdown of the Metal Loom Clamp

Today in this Old Trailer, we're going to review and install the Redline Metal Loom Clamp, part number A0500. The Redline Metal Loom Clamp is a solid band that goes all the way around with two pre-drilled holes, then has a coating that will help protect the wire once you squeeze it down and secure it. Slide the clamp on, close down, and I'm going to use my self tapping screw to secure it. That will do it for the review and install of the Redline half inch Metal Loom Clamp, part number A0500 on this Old Trailer. .

Hi George, you're welcome. I have made several purchases from E Trailer, things have always worked out great.

by:

Perfect fit.

Brake assy. easy install.. Great ! I did not use the cut washers. Used thread lock instead. With cut washer & nut combined not enough thread bite on brake stud. Loom clamps & clips worked great. Used 10 gauge wire for brakes as your suggestion. Trailer had small gauge wire. Looked like #14 or #16 gauge. It was fried ! Had to order type 11 circuit breakers one 30amp. & one 40amp. Bad breakaway switch also replaced. Some one missed wired wiring. Had axels flipped. Thanks for wiring diagrams on your sight.. Travel trailer had a major melt down. Did not catch fire but some wood under side was burnt. Had to trace all wiring to see any further damage. Just only on brake side was the problem. Now my brake system is back to working. Brake control working now ! .That's what led me to know something was wrong. Thank you for your web sight. And thank your staff for their professional work. Their experience shows it. Your friend John R.

Good quality. Should be pre-bent into position because you'll be under the car/truck when you install it. These will hold your brake controller cable running forward securely. I used a combination of these clamps and zip ties.

by:

Great product at a great price. I was securing battery cables on a race car when I ran out of clamps. I found e-trailer on line and ordered the parts on a Sunday night. Parts were delivered to my door on a Wed! I will order from e-trailer again, great timely delivery.

by:

I used these clamps to replace the very rusted set on my trailer. I was able to fit a 14/6 cable with a 1/2" dia. protective plastic loom, and a brake wire pair into them. It was a tight fit, but they are holding securely. Great price and service from etrailer.

by:

All items in the order for trailer wiring components were exactly what I ordered and all items were delivered promptly. Good communication from Etrailer with reasonable prices, and FREE SHIPPING!! Nice.

by:

Works as advertised.

by:

Worked well to secure my 6 wire trailer harness to the tongue.

by:

I've made 2 purchases from etrailer.com in the past 3 weeks. Shipping was fast, the price was competitive and all items purchased were as stated in the descriptions. This is my go to site for any of my future needs.

by:

I bought these 1/2" to hold the corrugated plastic wire loom in place down the undersides of the trailer. They worked ok, but they did smash it down a bit. That's ok for this installation as there was plenty of room for wires, but be aware of the tight fit.

by:

I purchased 3 of these based on the recommendation of the video I watched for installing my trailer plug. It was a wise choice as these ensure the wire stays far away from the hot exhaust. Thanks!

by:

Not much anyone can say about these. They work fine.

by:

I received my wiring harness and other components on the day in which they were promised for delivery. I had already viewed one of your posted videos on how to re-wire a utility trailer so I promptly installed the wiring harness and connected it to the lights which I had already mounted. Everything worked great! This was the first time I had re-wired a trailer and was initially apprehensive about doing the job myself. Your video made the difference! I have marked your website URL for future reference. You will be my "go to" site for trailer accessories and information.

by:

Great for wire safety, won't cut wires

by:

I am glad I came upon this site. The staff is friendly courteous and helpful.

Since I live in Canada it is a big problem if I had to send items back across the border to etrailer if the items were not what I thought they were. The short videos that etrailer provides with each product is extremely helpful in determining to purchase or not. Thank you for that feature. Knowing a little about video production and the costs associated with that, it must cost etrailer a pile to give us (the consumers) what appears to be a simple addition on their site

Thanks again guys/gals

by:

Perfect for installing Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs!

by:

Worked as advertised. Good fit for protective cable carrying trailer wiring which was a 3/8 diameter. I used 1/4" stainless steel bolts with locking nuts to secure the A0500 to trailer frame.

by:

Not sure yet. The clamp looks too small for 1/2" conduit sent. Should a larger one be used

Used these clamps to secure the brake lines on a disc brake conversion. Worked great!

by:

Ordered a pile of stuff to do a complete trailer rewire.... all was perfect!! I'll be back for my next project!

by:

Product worked as advertised, however, the eye holes are a bit of a small diameter. I had to drill them out a bit to enlarge them for use on my trailer wiring. Otherwise, the came exactly as purchased. Thanks

by:

installatiin was a snap with the video as a guide. The only problem I encountered was not fitting very well under the dash with my 6'4" frame.

by:

Good quality. I used self- tapping screws to secure wire to trailer frame.

by:

good product.....puts just the right amount of tension of the new four foot trailer harness I purchased at the same time. Installation looks very professional.

  • Recommended Hitch, Wiring Harness, and Brake Controller for a 2013 Toyota Highlander
I would be happy to help you set up your 2013 Toyota Highlander for towing. I will start by confirming that the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver item # e98858 does fit your Highlander. Since you do not have any vehicle connectors at the rear of your Highlander you will need both item # HM11141845 and item # ETBC7 to add a 7-way connector. The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller item # 90195 is one of our most popular brake controllers and is highly recommended. I have linked a...

  • Recommended Installation Screws for 1/2 Inch Metal Loom Clamp # A0500
For the Metal Loom # A0500 you will want to use the self-tapping screws like the part # FA1131822. The nice thing about this screw is that it doesn't require a pilot hole, just line it up and let the drill bit end of the screw do the work for you. This threaded screw will secure your loom clamp securely on your trailer. I have linked the above mentioned products to this page for your purchasing convenience.

  • Screws to Use with the Wire Loom Clamp part # A0500
You would want to use some self-tapping screws like the part # FA1131822. These would not require you drill a pilot hole. Just line the screw up where you want it through the Loom part # A0500 and let the drill bit end of the screw drill the needed hole and the threads will pull it through and secure it.

  • Is The 1/2" Metal Loom Clamp # A0500 a Single Component Or Multiple Clamps?
The price for the 1/2" Metal Loom Clamp # A0500 is for a single clamp. We do have the Clamp Kit # PT43VR which includes (20) 1/4", (8) 5/16", (6) 3/8", (4) 1/2", and (4) 5/8" clamps if you are going to end up needing a variety of different sizes.

  • Compatibility Of 1/2 Inch Loom Clamps With 3/8 Inch Loom
Yes, you can use Metal Loom Clamp - 1/2" # A0500 with Wire Loom 3/8" Diameter # 39035. It will secure the loom to your frame but it will not clamp tightly around it. If you want a tight fit at the clamps you can use 3/4" x 60' Electrical Tape to close the loom at that location and make it your desired thickness for clamping. If you want a perfect fit, I recommend the Wire Loom, 1/2" Diameter (per Foot) # 459075-1.

  • Does Titan Brake Line Tee Secure Trailer Brake Lines
Indirectly yes, the part # T0778500 does get used with brake hoses. If you check out the attached picture you'll see that holds a union tee that hoses run to. We do have clamps that were designed to secure brake lines like with the part # A0500 for 1/2 inch and # A0250 for 1/4 inch. We also have clips, # T0936600, for more brake line support.

  • Will the 1/2 Inch Metal Loom Clamps Work On a 5/16 Inch Frame Rail
Yes, the Metal Loom Clamp part # A0500 will work on a trailer frame that is 5/16" thick. The Metal Loom Clamp will actually work on pretty much any frame thickness but you will need to make note of the size screw used. I recommend the Hex Screw part # 101131802 for a 5/16" thick frame as it is 1/2" long. The Wire Loom part # 459075 can then be added to protect your wiring. I have attached a list of our other wiring accessories for you below as well.

These are self-adjusting brakes so there is no need for manual adjustments after the initial installation. Either one should work fine, but if it were me I would go with the # CE16867A between those two. Another option is the Metal Loom Clamp # A0500. Hi Don; for a replacement 4-way wiring harness I recommend the 20 Ft 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness # A20WB. This is a wishbone harness so you can run wires down both sides for your marker lights. Regarding the longevity of the wiring, I don't have anything I can say will last more than 2 years for sure but such a short timeframe isn't typical. Since your trailer lights are getting some power even when the trailer is not hitched and not connected to the tow vehicle wiring this tell us that one of the batteries on the trailer, either the auxiliary battery for the lights or the breakaway battery for the trailer's electric brakes, is somehow leaking power to the lights. Most likely there is a short on the power leads to one (or possibly even both) of the trailer batteries. You can inspect all of the breakaway and auxiliary batteries'...

  • Clips and Clamps to Attach Wires and Wiring Harnesses to the Bottom of a Trailer Frame
There are many ways you can secure wires to a trailer. I would not recommend the use of tape as it will wear out quickly when exposed to the elements. Soldering is also not recommended because it is a more permanent method and you may need to change wires or move them in the future the hot solder would also melt the coating on the wiring, causing a short. If you can find some large enough, wire ties could be a simple solution. We have several clamps and clips that could work for this application....
