Telescoping Ramp

Yakima OnRamp telescoping ramp

The OnRamp includes a telescoping, aluminum ramp so you can easily roll your e-bikes on and off the rack - no heavy lifting required. The ramp telescopes to ensure it touches the ground so you don't have to lift your bike at all. It can also be used to decrease the angle of approach to make loading even easier. It stores behind the bike trays, so you don't have to put it in your vehicle or risk misplacing it.

Padded Clamps with Ratchet Straps

Yakima OnRamp ratcheting hooks

Padded, rotating clamps grab your bikes by the frame or seat post to ensure safe transport with minimal movement and noise. They move up and down the center mast independently, so you can position them to fit bikes of any frame style.

Sliding Wheel Straps

Yakima OnRamp ratcheting hooks

The wheel trays have sliding ratcheting straps to secure your rear wheel to the rack. The straps slide along the tray to accommodate bikes with a variety of wheelbases. To secure your wheel, run the strap over the rim and back down through the strap buckle and pull tight. To remove your bike, press the quick-release button on the buckle and undo the strap.

Release Knob for Easy Tilting and Folding

Yakima OnRamp tilt awayHollywood racks tilt up

The rack tilts with bikes loaded for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. From behind the rack, pull the release knob at the base and tilt the rack down away from you. When you raise the rack back up, the pin will automatically re-insert and make an audible click to let you know it's secure.

Yakima OnRamp telescoping ramp

It also folds up when not in use. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And if you want to remove it, it doesn't take up as much space to store it.

Easy, Bolt-On Installation

Yakima OnRamp ratcheting hooks

To install the rack, simply slide the shank into your receiver and screw in the anti-rattle hitch pin. This threaded pin helps eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport.

Complete Security

Yakima OnRamp2 ratcheting hooksYakima lock

A cable lock is included to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. The thick, steel cable threads through your bike's frames, and locks back onto the hitch pin, preventing the pin from being removed from the hitch pin hole. The cable also has a soft rubber cover that won't scratch or scuff your bikes' paint.

With the assistance of the helpful staff at etrailer, we landed on the bike rack that works great for our needs. With an e-bike that is heavy to lift, it is nice having the ramp to load and unload and the frame supports are flexible enough to mount on both of our bikes without needing a bike adapter bar.

by:

This bike rack was easy to install and adjust to fit our bikes. The ramp was difficult to use because it was too narrow for the 2.5 inch tires.

by:

A stable and easy to use rack with deficiencies that cost it a star. The locking system for tilting the rack is awkward and unnecessarily cumbersome with 2 pins. The rack needs to be jiggled to remove and insert the pins. At this price point Yakima should have done a better job. I have used hitch bike racks that do not need 2 people to tilt for access to the hatch. Also the bolt that attaches the rack to the hitch has an oversize head >22mm that is uncommon for most ratchet/wrench sets that makes it difficult to torque it down.

Comments
Very Stable on long trips and a variety of bikes. Issues that would make me consider replacing it with a different rack are: The locking pin continues to be a hassle. The center post clamps do not line up evenly on some bikes. They clamp slightly crooked. If the center post was moved a small amount toward the center it might seat better on slanted bike tubes. Tires over 2.6 would benefit from a wider ramp.

etrailer: prompt delivery, fair price!
Rack: It does fit my (2) Gazelle T10 eBikes. 1) I found I had to adjust every setting to get bikes to fit. Until you learn there are many adjustments, it does not seem like the center/vertical clamps will reach both seat posts. 2) The ramp is barely usable; my wheels are max it will fit and you must have at least 12ft of clearance on each side of car to get bike lined up with ramp. 3) My bikes have a "walk" feature, this is not usable as its too awkward to hold the walk button down and move around the rack. I found its easier to abandon the ramp and load front then rear wheel. I will rig up a wheel stop, on ends of each wheel holder so bike will not roll off while I strap it in. 4) Rack did NOT come with a lock for hitch pin; this is very disappointing as they say in manual this is an optional item. Every rack I have seen at least has a clip that would otherwise hold the hitch pin in if somehow the bolt loosened up. 5) The rack weight is the lightest I have found. 6) You must load the first bike (closest to car) from car passenger side. This will avoid you bike pedals hitting the vertical bar. That means you must load the 2nd bike manually as there is no way to get the pedals past the vertical bar. I will get used to this, I hope. 7) The rack is a few inches above the receiver (part that goes into hitch) so if you have a low hitch this might be an issue with ground clearance. With both bikes mounted up, it seems very stable and hopefully will be secure in travel.

Comments
Thank you for all of the points. The ramp length is 52 inches so it is important to have that space available to utilize the ramp. The hitch lock that secures the rack to your vehicle is sold separately at item # Y07235

by:

This is a great product and works beautifully! The only issue was some sloppily made plastic turn knobs that were cross threaded on arrival. However, Yakima immediately shipped out replacements. It carries two large E bikes easily. They fasten solidly and are easy to load and unload!

by:

Excellent e bike rack. I used a front mount hitch to use this unit. Wife and I bought EBC bikes to use on our trips. We have a 5th wheel that made me use this mount.

by:

Overall it does exactly what I wanted it for. It holds our bikes nicely in place with minimal vibration even at highway speeds. The ramp is nice for heavy ebikes.
Pros: the ramp to wheel my wife’s heavy ebike up; solid fastening of the bikes onto the rack
Cons: pulling/pushing the pins out/in to flip the rack up or down is cumbersome and a bit tricky and certainly not as nice as Thule’s foot mechanism. Heavy.

by:

Basically a solid bike rack, stable hauling 2 e bikes. It’s well built. Tracks too narrow for fat tire bikes I own. Loading ramp is very tricky to use. Not overly stable and keeping it lined up with tracks. Attachment point for the ramp is behind bikes and hard to access. Bolt that holds it on is barely long enough.

by:

works for my setup. I have 2 lectric bikes and it carried them no problem. My minor issue is my Outdoors RV Trailer is high off the ground and the "ramp" is much too short to be helpful.

by:

It should be Yakima asking for user comments. I used the on-ramp for more than 1500 miles of transport for two Gazelle C8 E-bikes. The off center vertical support post is a bit wobbly, and is not compatible with mounting two step thru frame style bikes. Additionally, an e-bike with typically integrated gram battery requires larger hold down clamps which this rack does not have. The second bike requires the use of a frame cross-bar to provide a clamping point. The included ramp is a welcome feature eliminating having to lift bikes. Although the rack is rated for the e-bike weight, I remove the batteries for transport as recommended by Gazelle.

by:

This bike rack is better than I expected it to be. Very well built holds our two e-bikes perfectly.

by:

The rack is well built and hold my mountain ebikes very well. I wish the ramps were just a bit wider and more stable. They seem to twist a bit under the weight of my 60 lb bikes. I definitely needed to practice my loading technique to load and unload as effortlessly shown in some videos.

by:

This bike rack is very well designed and easy to use. The ramp provides a great option for easy loading and unloading. The design of the clamps that attach the bikes to the rack is excellent because it works on bikes of different sizes and brands. Whenever someone mentions getting an e-bike, I recommend this rack.

by:

This bike rack has fit our needs perfectly. It takes a little time to secure the bikes properly but once in place, the two e bikes are very secure. Love the ramp to load the bike since one of ours is quite heavy.

by:

Quick summary of Yakima On Ramp bike rack: Great service from etrailer.com, but in spite of Yakima’s claim that the rack is designed for bikes with up to 3.25 inch tires, when attached at a 45 degree angle as specified by Yakima, the tie down straps do not fit either of my bikes (27.5x2.4 and 27.5x2.8 inch tires).

Comments
For tires sized 3.25 to 4.5 the OnRamp FatStraps Item # Y23FR
Fat Tire Straps for Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack - Qty 2
$19.95
will need to be purchased.

by:

The design does not work well with my Ride 1Up bikes.
In order to mount the bikes so handle bars don’t rub, the need to be mounted facing away from each other. When mounted that way the support bracket strap is not long enough to strap around the battery.
I have reached out to Yakima to see if different straps are available.
I will probably need to return this unit.

Comments
I will have our customer service team reach out to you. I recommend removing the battery when using the bike rack. It would allow the strap to be used and allow the bikes to be lighter when using the bike rack.

I love everything about this rack except for the little pin that locks it in position either up or down is sometimes difficult for me to get in and out. It is solid it holds my E bike which is 60 pounds without any tremors or problems at all. The ramp is easy to use it only took two or three tries before I could keep my bike straight on it. I put it on the front of my van as I want access to the back doors when I’m on the road. I love it !!!!

by:

We love our bike rack as it is perfect for hauling my husbands fat tier ebike and my mountain bike. We had to buy an accessory for the fat tire but we were able to make it work.
We love that we can fold the rack when not in use and we LOVE the ramps!
We highly recommend the Yakima OnRamp Bike rack. Heavy duty and sturdy!

by:

Excellent for e-bikes

by:

I purchased this for a Quietkat e-bike and would love it except the tires on the bike are wider than the rake and ramp.

by: 07/06/2022

It went together very easily. I need to road test yet, but seems very sturdy.

by:

East to put together and much easier than the previous bike rack that we had. Great product!!!

by:

This rack is just what we needed for our new ebikes. We started off putting the bikes in the back of the pickup, but were getting tired of lifting the heavy bikes. The OnRamp was easy to assemble and mount on the vehicle. Loading the heavy bikes takes a reasonable amount of effort, and I think some practice will make the job fairly easy. It takes a little finesse to keep the fat tires on the ramp while loading and unloading. One of our bikes has 4 inch fat tires, so I ordered the longer wheel straps for fat tires. The specs for the rack said the maximum tire diameter they would accommodate was 3.25 inches. However the straps provided worked just fine on the 4 inch fat tires. Longer straps were not needed. Larger tires would require longer straps. I also ordered a lock for the hitch pin, but on our first bike trip with the OnRamp, I just used a piece of chain and a pad lock to lock the rack to the pickup while we were riding, and that worked fine. I also noticed that the provided cable lock is long enough to lock the hitch to the vehicle using the hitch receiver holes for trailer chains. I guess someone could steal the hitch pin if you were just using the chain or cable, and that would be inconvenient. We took a ride around the local wildlife refuge this morning, and were pleased with how well the hitch does its job. This one's a keeper! The etrailer customer service was outstanding! They noticed that one item I ordered was going to be delayed, so they recommended a replacement. When I accepted their suggestion, they took care of changing the order. Really helpful and on the ball! I will definitely shop on etrailer for future purchases.

Great Rack - Very Happy!
We just purchased
2 x e-bikes which weigh about 52 lbs each. Was debating between this and the Thule. Chose the Yakima because fo the positive reviews I read and very happy I did. Assembly and Installation wasn't difficult but it did take some time to get everything adjusted correctly. But once I did, it's only about 10 minutes to load / unload the bikes. The rack is very sturdy and transported our bikes safely and securely. In addition, service from etrailer was fantastic. Communication was awesome and delivery was great. Both the Yakima OnRamp and etrailer.com highly recommended!

by:

We installed it this afternoon. I am sure with practice loading the bikes will get easier. I do need to get the Yakima Fat Tire Straps Y23FR, at least two sets when they are available. Really appreciate the advise from etrailer personnel. Top Notch.

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for Two 60 lb E-Bikes
The bike rack I highly recommend for a pair of 60 lb e-bikes is the Yakima OnRamp E-Bike Platform Rack # Y36FR. The reasons I really like the OnRamp is because of its value; compared to other e-bike racks that have a ramp the OnRamp is more economical but still very high-quality. It also has a 66 lbs per bike weight capacity which means you would be covered if you have electric bikes. It also can accept tires up to 3.25" wide. I have attached a review video for you as well.
