Video Transcript for Domar Stabilizer Jack Review

Today were going to install part number TJ01RT from Domar. This is their stabilizer jack. Were going to install on this enclosed trailer. Basically what you want to do is find a good location to install the jack. In this case were going to be underneath the trailer toward the back. Were going to orient the jack where the foot points away from the trailer going out back when its being used.

Well hold the jack up in place and then on the hole going toward the front of the trailer well go ahead and use the drill and drill out our hole to mark it. Then well remove the jack and then drill all the way through the floor. With that done well go ahead and drop our bolt from the top down, and reinstall the jack. On the bottom were using a phalange locking nut. Well snug down the bolt to hold the jack in place so we can mark our next location to drill the hole.

Well take it back down and drill our hole out and then well go ahead and reinstall the jack for the first bolt and then well go ahead and install the second bolt. Then well go ahead and tighten down the bolts. In just those few steps our jacks installed and ready to use. To use it, well start off in the folded up position. Theres tight clearance at the foot of the jack and the floor of the trailer, so its a good idea to squeeze the two tabs at the bottom together so you can pull it out.

You push down on the tab a little bit and then the bottom of the leg drops down. Thats it. To retract the jack well go ahead and push down on the tab again, pull up on the foot, push it all the way up into its stored position. With that, that will finish it for our install of part number TJ01T.

I received these 3 cool stabilizing jacks a couple of days ago and installed them today. I am impressed with the leveling jacks and they are just what the doctor ordered for this trailer. This 4’X8’ trailer was built in 1975 and has a ’66 Olds Tornado rear axle. I mounted 1 jack on the tongue and 2 jacks on the rear for stability and so I don’t have to be hooked up to load the trailer. They will work great. I will attach several pictures and use what you wish. Great communication on this purchase and fast shipping on the items and quite reasonable. I will purchase from etrailer again. 62348

The leveling jacks are still working just as good as they did the day they were new. Ideal support jack for small trailers. etrailer good people to do business with.

I purchased this load stabilizer for my light duty trailer so the hitch wouldn't have to lay on the concrete when nor hitched to my tractor. The quality was great and it functioned as advertised. Great product I would recommend this to a friend. 80299

How did you mount your stabilizer? In the pictures you put on e-trailer.com of your application, I cant see any bolt holes in the trailer tongue, but it appears you installed the stabilizer on a plate of some sort mounted underneath the trailer.

I cut 2 pieces of 1/4 inch thick aluminum plate one to fit inside the trailor tongue and the other one to fit between the trailor tongue and the mounting bracket on top of the load stabilizer. I machined a shoulder on the bottom face of the aluminum plate inside the trailor tongue and I also machined another shoulder on the top face of the aluminum plate between the stabilizer and the trailor tongue. I also transferred the two holes on the top of the load stabilizer to the aluminum plates and drilled through holes to match that size in both plates. Now to mount you put the one plate inside the tongue with the shoulder facing down lined up with the gap in the underside of the tongue the other plate goes on top of the load stabilizer with the sholder faceing up to also line up with gap in the underside of the tongue now put 2 bolts through the holes in the load stabilizer mounting bracket faceing up through both aluminum plates and install lock washers and nuts then tighten down after sliding the stabilizer forward or backward to your desired location. The reason for the shoulders is so the whole unit wont twist when mounted. Also the shoulder thickness of both plates added together cant be thicker than the thickness of the tongue material or the mount wont tighten up enough to prevent it from sliding back and forth on the tongue. I hope this helps. This system works without having to drill any holes th the trailor tongue and also looks good and clean mounted.

We have used these on 3 small trailers so far. They do work well. Overall it's a good product for the price. Only 2 negatives: 1) as the telescoping leg slides in and out, it doesn't take long for the paint to scrape off and they start to show surface rust. They start looking cruddy after a while. 2) the last 4 I got were slightly out of tolerance and ( when mounted and retracted) the leg body does not slide in the notch/groove as intended when in transport position. This was solved by adding a piece of 1/4 in aluminum spacer between the drop leg and the trailer frame, giving it the clearance for the log to get into the notch. The first 6 I bought did not have this issue. I don't know if this was just a goof up or a new design change. If designed, they really should add these spacers or make a not that it is required. Fortunately, we cut aluminum and we fixed it right away. For someone else, it may have been quite a hassle. 157021

I had asked for the order asap and you did just that. It even arrived a day sooner than you stated. It was just what I was looking for. It fits perfect with the frame I have and the same color! See attach. pic. When I picked up this trailer it needed a full make over, now look at it...nice! Thank you so much, Terry 142236

The stabilizer is about what I expected , operates smoothly and the locking mechanism works well . The paint coating leaves something to be desired . Item was scratched up on arrival and scratched easily during installation , I repainted the stabilizer and hope rust does not become an issue 92738

Great product for lightweight trailers for which a normal jack (with a caster wheel) is overkill. I mounted this jack on the 4x8 kit trailer I bought from Harbor Freight, and it's perfect in size and function for my trailer. I've only had it for about a week, so I can't speak to its durability, but at this price I can replace it every 3 or 4 years, if necessary. 152455

Installed the stabilizer jack on a lightweight single axle utility trailer. The install took approximately 20 minutes, which included removing and re-installing the tongue. The jack is well designed and functions perfectly for my trailer, low profile when tilted and locked against the frame. 211830

The trailer jack has performed perfectly. Very steady and strong, conveniently locks out of place. Great product.

I purchased this stand for my 2011 Can-Am RT-622 trailer. The manufacturer does offer a stand that just fold down with no adjustments for height for $99.00, which is pretty rediculas. So I started searching the web and found etrailer and found the their version with multiple adjustments of height and fold away design for a fraction of the cost. Didn't know what to expect, nor did I expect to receive such a high quality stand. With a little fabrication on the trailer, it works like a charm. 394422

Ordered the items late last week. Several items were out of stock and received a call and email from customer service to advise me of that status stating they would ship the in stock items and the out of stock items as soon as they were in stock. In stock items were shipped and arrived sooner than expected. The items are exactly what I wanted and will work on my trailer. I have a small landscape trailer that I want to use to haul landscape stuff, camping stuff, bicycles, recumbent bicycles, and possibly attach a tent system on top. I plan to attach the three stabilizer jack, one on the trailer tongue, and the other two on the back corners. I failed to measure for clearance, etc. where I plan to attach the jacks, but when they arrived I checked for clearance and I think everything will work well. Now I have to decide whether to bolt or weld the jacks to the trailer rails. 194714

Great product, super value. The catalog doesn't quite show you how this jack can be mounted, and I was a little concerned I'd need some fabrication or even welding to put it where I wanted it, but it turned out a pair of mounting holes on the top (not pictured in the catalog) worked out great. Some bolts and a couple different washers, and I was able to get a suitable mounting with nothing more than turning a wrench. Quite happy with this purchase. 145522

The trailer jack has worked out great. I use it on a short single axle trailer with two 55 gallons of liquid. The rear barrel is slightly behind the axle and the trailer jack prevents the trailer from tipping on its backside. Very happy with product.

This swing down stabilizer was for my Coleman/Fleetwood folding trailor. It is a bolt on 3" bolt spacing, same length and a perfect match to my 1996 pup's other 3 stabs. Easy install. Will buy the next one/or 3 from ETrailor when need in the future. 102205

Ordered 2 of these for my 6.5x10' enclosed v-nose trailer to help stabilize the back end when loading motorcycles and when camping in the trailer. They work well and were easy enough to install. I'd recommend buying the adjuster bar. You could use some heavy gauge steel round stock, but the etrailer one is inexpensive. There are a few things I think could make this stabilizer jack perfect: a pivoting foot plate, more positive clamping mechanism (ratcheting vs. friction/wedge) and a rubber foot pad. That said, its still a good jack; does the job and I would buy again. 35686

Product arrived as promised. I've used these in years past on my 25ft travel trailer...(They were the same jack but with a much higher weight rating). This is an old standby jack stand...it stands the test of time and I wouldn't hesitate at buying it again if ever needed. Simple to use, quality built, long lasting....Just an all-around great product. 351813

I ordered 2 products from Etrailer. The ordering experience was simple and easy. Their website works fairly quickly and without any uneasy unknowns. The products shipped immediately and I received them in less time than promised. The parts I received were exactly as expected and shipped in good condition. The trailer stabilizer jack was about 30% less than I could find anywhere else and less than half of the price at a local camper dealer. I had never heard of etrailer prior to searching for this jack online. I saved them to my favorites and will def use them again whenever I need anything they sell. It is rare these days for anything to go smoothly or work right and I feel that this company did a great job. 54218

I have a small home built trailer that I tow behind my motorcycle on trips. In all the years I have owned this trailer, the one thing that bugged me was laying the tongue of the trailer on the ground when disconnected. I have had to replace the wiring connector a few times and I believe that laying it on the ground was the culprit. I saw this stabilizer jack and a light bulb went on. Instead of mounting it in the rear, I mounted it on the tongue. It works exactly as I had hoped it would. My order from etrailer arrived fast and the communications from the company showed that they are experts in customer care. I am one happy camper. Great product and experience with etrailer. I will definately be purchasing again. 106161

I used 3 of these (1 one each side and 1 in centered) to elevate the foot of the ramp on a Toy Hauler RV. The purpose was to decrease the incline so that it could be used in conjunction with an 8' portable wheelchair ramp. They were permanently mounted to ramp utilizing 1/4" aluminum plates to distribute the weight over a larger area. The jacks fold up nicely, protruding only slightly more that the awning structure. 80695

Don, I think you just confirmed what I have been wondering?I would like to level the ramp on my cargo trailer to utilize that space while tailgating. It sounds like I need to mount the jacks just as you did. By chance do you have any pictures? Thanks for your help.

The service could not be greater!!! Over and above the call of duty. I have built a travel trailer that goes behind my Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic. The stabilizers work perfectly for this little trailer and the price was reasonable too. There was a problem with one of the springs inside one of the stabilizers; Manufacturing defect. I've sent that e-mail to y'all, and I'm sure the issue will be resolved soon. I'm still giving y'all a 5, because you are worthy. 386396

I'm trying to figure out what took me so long to order these! For years I have camped in a small Coleman pop-up (8 foot box) that only had the rear stablizers, so there was always shaking with every little movement. I ordered two of these Stabilizer Jacks (TJ01RT) for the front of the camper on a Sunday they arrived very quickly! These jacks were just as described, fit perfectly, and easily, on my camper (I installed them in about 10 minutes total), and they have made a HUGE difference! The camper is very stable now!! Price, service, and delivery from etrailer.com was wonderful (and much appreciated)! I will definitely order from here again!! 11138

I like the infinitely variable positioning of the legs and the nice fold up and store feature. However, this unit is only strong in one direction since the attachment base is very narrow. If this item gets even the slightest load sideways, it will lean, what it is attached to will bend. If at all possible, mount it in a way where it would never be loaded in the slightest bit side to side. Almost impossible unless you use these on very flat areas and only for up down stability. If there is a slope and these guys get the slightest side load, they simply do not have a wide enough attachment base to do the job. I bolted and welded mine on. 95973

These stabilizer jacks are pretty nifty. They do the job they are intended for. They are not built to support a trailer but they did help lessen the bounce of my cargo trailer camper I'm building. They were easy to install and other than having to get down on the ground to drop them (trailer frame issue) I like them. I would recommend them for small and medium trailers. I think they would be great for a tear drop camper for sure. 289744

Just sent a friend who is trailer shopping a photo of my 1)stabilizer jack and 2)tongue handle attached to the ball receiver of my Sportsrig trailer. The handle makes maneuvering the trailer while off the car, and attachment to the car, very easy. The jack retracts and deploys easily and allows the trailer to stand on three solid points-- the two wheels and the jack-- and keeps the receiver off the ground and out of harms way. Trailer is in storage and the picture I sent to him is unimpressive, so I have not included it, but I did describe the jack and handle as two 'greatly loved accessories" and recommended them both. 357084

Yet another item purchased for my 10K lb trailer build. The quality of the stabilizer jacks looks to be very nice and after watching the video on the ease of using them I was sold. I am building a trailer to haul my rock crawler Jeep but it will also serve as my sleeping quarters will camping. I will be building a platform that will be stationary above the hood area of the Jeep on the front of the trailer that will hold my new Overland type tent. I will mount these jacks on all four corners of the trailer to stabilize the trailer since the Overland tent will be mounted at a finished height of 6'-6". 235599

Good product. Has a slight manufacturer flaw that should be easy to fix. When not attached to the trailer the units close easily. When attached to the trailer, the pad extends just a bit below the plane of the hinge. This keeps it from closing easily. You really have to jam it closed. A couple of things could fix this. A spacer under the hinge bracket to lift it up allowing room for the pad, take a bit of metal off the side of the pad that hits the trailer, or file out the locking notch making it a bit wider to allow for the new angle. I'll probably take some metal off the pad. 176911

Good product. Easy to use and install. If I could change one thing about this product it would be the addition of holes in the feet for screwing on an easy to replace wood pad on the bottom to keep the paint on the foot from getting scratched up during use. Before I installed my stabilizer jacks I drilled 4 holes through each foot plate and installed some hardwood pads with round head SS wood screws. I would recommend doing something similar to help protect the coating system if your jacks will be exposed to wet/corrosive environments. 92177

Exactly what I needed. My tent trailer had welded on stabilizer legs and I was having issues with them. I ordered these Atwood stabilizers, cut off the old and welded these in place and they work perfect. Shipping was fast and professional! This is a cool little product. Very easy to use. I was a little skeptical, but wanted to give it a try considering the great price. I haven't installed it yet, but played with it. Works great. More robust than I expected. My only constructive criticism would be that it only mounts from above, which means putting holes in your floor for the bolts. I wish it had a side mounting mechanism (holes for bolts or maybe brackets around the frame), since the frame is more sturdy than the floor material. Minor feedback. 121413

This seams to be a so-so copy of the real product. Poor paint finish and misalignments of notches. You cannot simply mount this aligned with a beam. The notch to hold the jack in the stored position is to high. This means you need to make a spacer to go between the mount and surface. A reviewer mentioned enlarging the notch but that will make it less affective. I later found other reviews that mention this, so the jack should have been pulled from sale, a spacer provided, or come with a warning at check out. 219772

I needed a small trailer to transport racing slicks to track events for my Corvette. This minute I had to fabricate both the trailer and the hitch from scratch. I relied heavily on each trailer parts to do this. All of them have performed flawlessly. The advice I got along the way was also spot on. Thank you. 427220

The reason for the purchase of this stabilizer jacket was to be used as a front support on a motorcycle trailer tongue. The one that came with the trailer was not very sturdy and had a very small foot area. The jack is over rated for the trailer but it did exactly what I wanted. There is another motorcycle trailer coming in for a friend and if it has the same problem as mine we will be ordering another jacket from etrailer.com. I did some searching on the internet and I could not beat E-Trailer price. 11505

This was one of the easiest purchases I've ever made on line. It was easy to find the exact part I was looking for, the price was unbeatable, the web site was easy to use and my order shipped immediately. It arrived in the proper amount of time based on the ground shipping I selected and it was packed really well. The jack I ordered looked exactly has it was shown on line and worked perfectly. I will definitely use etrailer.com for anything else I might need in the future for my pop-up camper. 231387

I'm very impressed with this company. Communicatio is fantastic, and often. The products shipped same day and arrived exactly when they said they would. The pricing was comparible or better than anything else I found. They sent me an email updating me at every step along the way. They followed up with an email after delivery to make sure everything was good. I wish more companies performed this well. I will absolutely do business with etrailer.com in the future. --VERY satisfied customer 52690

I cannot say enough good about my experience with etrailer! The product was reasonably priced, it was exactly, and I mean exactly what I needed and fit perfect with no modifications. I received an email the day after I ordered it stating that they upgraded my shipping to 2 day at no additional charge. The product arrived and I had all four installed within an hour. Could have been less time, but I did not have the correct socket. : ) Thanks much, I'll do business with your firm again 17344

These jacks are awesome! perfect fit for my 6x12 single axle cargo trailer. I bolted them in cause I didn't have a welder available. They were easy to install and are extremely strong and great quality. One thing is when they are in the "flipped -Up" position and you go to install weather bolting or welding I had to shimmy the one end by 1/8'' otherwise the foot wouldn't go completely horizontal and lock itself into its latch for travel. No big deal one fender washer took care of that. 208237

I ordered the trailer stabilizer jack to use to support the tongue of my Harbor Freight cargo kit trailer when not coupled to my Goldwing. I have not installed the jack yet but it appears to be of excellent quality and attractively priced when compared to the retail price of the same jack when purchased from a trailer manufacturer or dealer. I have been an occasional customer of etrailer.com for about ten years and have always been pleased with their customer service and products. 116737

  • How to Raise and Lower the Domar Stabilizer Trailer Jack
  • Using the Domar Stabilizer Jack, # TJ01RT, is very simple. When the jack is mounted on the bottom of the trailer frame in the up position, all you will need to do is pull the leg away from the mounting bracket (there is a spring that holds the leg in place) and then swing down until it locks into position. Once down, to release the drop leg you will only need to push down on the lever at the bottom of the leg and gravity will pull it down. If you want to use the jack to slightly raise...

  • How to Mount Stabilizer Jack, # TJ01RT, On a Trailer Frame: Welding or Bolt-On
  • You can mount the Stabilizer Jack, # TJ01RT, two ways. The best way is to have the jacks welded to the trailer frame by a qualified professional. The alternative is to mount the jacks using your own hardware. You will need to drill two holes into the bottom of the trailer frame for the mounting holes on the top of the jack. Grade 8 bolts are the strongest and you can get them at your local hardware store. The bolts can be inserted through the top of the frame down through the jack, or up...
