Video Transcript for SnapPad 5th Wheel and Class A Motorhome Jack Stand Pads Review

Shane: Hey guys, Shane 00:00:01 here with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the SnapPad Jack Stand Pads. With a motorhome or camper, we like to go camping to different places. We like to travel. Camping at different spots means the ground could be a little bit different. Maybe it could be a little bit softer in some places. Well, when we go to level out our trailer, if one of those jacks pushes down on the ground, that means our camper's not going to be level.Adding a SnapPad onto your jacks is going to make leveling out your camper a lot easier because we're not going to have to worry about the foot sinking in the ground.

It's going to give us a much bigger footprint to make sure that we have a solid foundation. These are going to come in a variety of different sizes, anywhere from 7-inch up to 12-inch. Here, we have the 8-inch, 9-inch, 10-inch, 11.5. There's also a 7-inch and a 12-inch. What you're going to need to do is determine what kind of foot pad you have on your jack. There's four different kinds.

You have round, you have square, you have octagon, and you have concave round. These are going to be for your round. This type is going to be for your concave round or your octagon. Then of course, your 11.5 and your 12 are going to be for rounds. Now the reason this one is for your concave round or your octagon.. You'll notice that the sides are a little bit deeper than the rest of them.

The reason that is, is because on the foot pad, on the octagon and concave round, the sides kind of roll up a little bit taller. But we want those sides to be able to come down and grab on this bottom lip. Each one of our pads are going to be the durable rubber construction. So no matter what terrain we're on, whether it's rocky or asphalt, we can rest assured that once we have our jacks down, they're going to stay in place. So with adding these onto your factory foot plate, we kind of put this in perspective. Your factory foot plate, let's say it's nine inches, which is what this pad is here. Your 9-inch foot plate is a metal plate.

When we add this, we're actually making it 11 inches. So we're going from nine inches to 11 inches, which is going to give us a much better footprint, a much more solid foundation. Not only can you buy these as a kit, but you can also buy these as separate pads. You can find each one here at etrailer.com.Now to measure your pad or to measure your foot. They determine what you have. This one's a round one. What we need to do is we need to measure across it from one side to the other. That's going to tell us what size foot pad we need. If you have octagon, you're just going to go from one flat side to the other flat side, straight across, very simple to measure. Once you measure, find the correct foot pad, and you're ready to go.My overall thoughts on these, I think these are a great idea. I think when you compare them to some of the other types of pads or some of the other types of things that people have used, like Mowers 00:03:08 for instance, or maybe a pad that you just slide underneath there. You know, when we go to take off, maybe we're in a rush, and you're going to be thinking all the way home whether you forgot the pad or not. If you forgot it, you're out of luck. Now you got to find something else. We've gotten a lot of reviews from different people who have got these and said that "this was the best thing" they've "ever bought for their RV or camper" and they "should have done it a long time ago."As far as the installation on. Installation is very simple. I do say have two people. Once you get the pad slid into place or in the area of the jack, back out, but whoever it is drop that jack down close to the path. If you have to make an adjustment, have him stop, slide the pad over and then get out from underneath the RV. Once they drop the jack down all the way, it's going to pop right into place. That doesn't mean once they're on, they have to stay on. If you have to replace them, they can come off. Take a couple of screwdrivers, you're just going to wedge it up around the plate, slide it around the side until you get half of it off, and then it'll just slide off and you can pop the new one on.That's going to do it for looking at the SnapPad Jack Stand Pads..

These snap pads look heavy duty and should protect and cushion the rv stabilizer foot pads. These installed in a quick snap! Pardon the pun.

Review from a similar Jack Pads in RV Jack Pads

The first three pads went on smoothly. The last had one of the edges rip off on one side. I am not sure why it ripped? I was using plenty of dawn soap to get them slicked up. I am hoping that this does affect it being held on tightly? They seem like they are going to work well. I can't wait to get on the road and try them out.

Comments
I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. If the lip of the pad is damaged in installation then it is possible that the pad will be lost over time. You will want to make sure that the foot is centered to SnapPad and that it seats into the center of the pad.

The SnapPad CTRA jack pads are the best! You sell them are almost half the price of other sites. I will not shop anywhere else when it comes to my RV needs.

first trip out I lost 1 pad - bought 2 replacements and on the next trip I lost 2 and now 1 short again - decided not to replace

I would be happy to help and I have a few follow up questions to ask. Would you be able to send a picture of the pad installed? What size pad is needed for your camper?
-- Etrailer Expert Jenny N - 03/04/2022
Comments
Jenny, The pad is 9 inch but they only lasted 1 trip each time and last trip along the coast I lost 2 pads, I bought 4 and then 2. Here are the pictures.

I did reach out to the manufacturer about the snap pads. It appears that your jack might be dished which is why it is not holding the pad. In the photos that you provided, the one with the Snap pad in the foreground and the bare foot in the back ground, the back foot is the one I am referring to. Being dished is where the foot has begun to bend or dish out of its original flat state which will not allow it to hold the pad on properly. This dishing or bending occurs as the weight of the RV pushes down on the center of that foot. The Lippert feet may bend on larger RV models and can bend at higher degrees on the rear feet or feet on the sides where there are slide outs. This is a flaw with the metal feet themselves, and, unfortunately, the only recommendation in these instances is replacement of the footplates.

Call their support/sales line because the manufacturer was calling them a different name. They called manufacturer and said they were in fact the correct ones for our levelers. Received and put on same day,PERFECT FIT ! Very happy with price and fast free shipping. Would recommend SnapPad,well made on heavy material and fit well.

Comments
They are very durable and keep leveler base clean

So far, so good!!! Received just in time to install prior to getting ready and heading out on a five day trip. I did the dish soap thing around the edge and easily installed by myself. I simply manually lowered the levelers until the Snap Pads could barely slide under, then aligned the Pads under the feet of the levelers and then lowered them into the Pads. Easy!
Now I’m not worried about leveling on my driveway pavement. Day two at a campground and so far we haven’t lost any stability in the motorhome on a mostly grass site.
In the photo, the orange Pads are only to keep rear wheel on the ground when leveled. If you enlarge, you can see the Snap Pads

Very quick delivery to my home, and the pads are on the RV already. Easy to put on. The suggestion was to put some liquid soap on the edges and the jacks slide in very quickly and easily. Worked great! eTrailer was very helpful with finding the right group of pads for this new RV. Thank You.

Comments
The rear pads on our 41 foot Class A would not stay on. The 11.5 jack pad might have not been exact for the pads I ordered. Even the right front would not stay on either. After a visit to HWH to get a jack replaced, they do not recommend pads as the weight reduces the retracting spring capability. I had no problems at all with a previous 39 Class A which were also purchased from eTrailer. However, eTrailer is always the best place, by far, to purchase those products they sell.

Easy install with a helper and a little soap.
I feel much better with this non-slip robust footpad installed.
Cannot attest to durability as I've just installed them but they seem very heavy-duty.
No more kneeling and situating pads when you get to camp!

Still working great after a year! No issues at all. Great product and purchase experience.

The snap pads fit very nice on my fifth wheel trailer. It is a snug fit and I do not worry about them falling off while traveling the highways. The foot print of the pads adds more stability when parked to keep the trailer level.

Comments
In the last year we traveled over 10,000 miles with the camper with no problems with the snap pads. They are still just as snug as when I put them on. I think they are an excellent edition to the camper.

Review from a similar Jack Pads in RV Jack Pads

We own a 2020 Allegro Bus. Purchased the jack pads one year ago. Three of the pads have stayed on securely. One of the large pads just would not stay in place and caused tire damage, so we discontinued use. Tried several times to remedy the situation, but to no avail. It was too unreliable to risk further problems.

Comments
After looking at some information from the manufacturer as to what can cause these to fall off, you may want to check the shape of your jack feet. It they seem to be concave or inside out so to speak, that could be why the pad would pop off.

Kailey was extremely helpful finding the right products and spent time answering all my questions. Free shipping and received snap pads in two days. I’m disabled and installed the snap pads with no help on our 2021 Alpine 2850 RD fifth wheel. Front jacks took Eq 11 1/2 inch round pads. The other jacks took four Eq 10 inch octagon pads. Very pleased from ordering to ease of installation

I bought these a year ago for my husband (because he does all the outside stuff when we camp) and he LOVES them. No more running around the camper with the little orange squares while the jacks are coming down. Snappads are good on all surfaces.

I ordered the Snap Pads off your web site, I input the year make and model of my motorhome and it said what I ordered will work, when I received the Snap Pad product they were too small. I called customer service and now I will get charged return shipping and the correct product is now over more so what was originally a good deal is now a higher cost than expected.

Comments
The snap pads are fit guided for the Winnebago Journey but you will still need to measure the diameter of the jack feet on the motorhome. These particular pads fit 9 inch round feet. If you let me know the diameter of the jack feet, I am happy to help you find the correct pads.

The snap pads make it a breeze to setup with not having to carry blocks, etc. They seem yo help with preventing the movement we used to have with our 41 ft toyhauler.

After a year I’m not sure what is going on. They are failing. We really are nice but they will be falling off at some point.

Comments
I had confirmed with the manufacturer that The pictures of these particular pads show something referred to as installation damage and would have happened when originally installed. I will be sending this over to customer service to give you some more assistance.

Review from a similar Jack Pads in RV Jack Pads

‘Purchased a set of 4 to use on our 2019 AS, a 25’ International Serenity model, which has 5 1/2” square stabilizer feet.
‘Some hesitancy placing the order as most reviews appeared to have vehicles with round stabilizers.
Manufacturer & delivery took months but was worth the wait: these are thick, heavy-duty, compressed rubber ( think rubber stall mat for race horses) and a nice, tight fit.
The fit was tight enough that mounting required me to remove the foot from its arm and use a channel lock wrench to torque the snap pad edge enough for the foot plate to fit into the product groove. Once in, it appeared to be snug enough to stay there for the long haul.
Re-attaching foot & pad to the stabilizer arm required another edge torque ( minimal pressure) to get the long attaching bolt to slide into its housing holes.
….long winded review for a simple Excellent rating of this product.
I wasn’t disappointed with this purchase

Review from a similar Jack Pads in RV Jack Pads

We can't recommend this product at this time. We have three of the four depart our 2020 Newmar Bay Star Sport. We have no idea when they came off, and consider them a hazard to vehicles behind us. SnapPad was contacted and refused to replace them or investigate a cause. It was a waste of money for us.

Comments
I do know that often if snap pads are lost that there is a clearance issue around or above the metal foot. You would want to have at least 2 inches of full clearance to the sides of the retracted foot and at least 0.75 inches of clearance from the top edge of the foot and above. In transit ground clearance can also cause pad loss. When traveling over curbs, speedbumps, and potholes the landing feet can be set closer to the ground and when driving over these areas the suspension of the rig forces the feet further down. It is recommended that a minimum of 6 inches of full ground clearance is needed to safely use the pads.

I ordered pads for my Tiffin Alegro Bus IP40. I liked how they work on the ground but the rears with the jacks retracted static on the concrete have enough clearance but traveling not so much. The tires got into the pads and tore them up. I removed them as I see a safety problem.

Comments
You mentioned that the tires touched the rear pads. I had a question that I wanted to ask. I know that the you will want to have at least 2 inches of full clearance to the sides of the of the fully retracted foot and at least 0.75 inches from the top of the edge of the foot and above. Do you have this much clearance there or is it less?
-- Etrailer Expert Jenny N - 03/14/2022
Comments
I may be wrong, but I believe when I purchased these there was no mention of 2” of clearance or any dimensional callout, just that there be some. I also ordered them specific to my model of coach. With the pads mounted, as they are hexagonal in shape, I installed them with the flat oriented for maximum clearance, approx. 2”. As I traveled the pads rotated slowly and that is where the problem occurred as the point of the hex got into the tires. Not too happy to say the least. If I hadn’t noticed, they would have eventually come off. The potential for them hitting another vehicle is great and that would not be good as well as possible damage to my vehicle. I have spent my money and have done a little R&D for you folks. With that said I would not recommend these for this coach unless you have an option.

Snapped on fine. There is now less clearance under the jack when it is retracted. Hopefully this will never be an issue and We will get many years of service out of them.

Comments
1 year later and the snap pads are still on and working fine. I even had to remove one to do some jack repair and the removal and reinstall were easy.
