Hi there I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at this SmartPlug 30-Amp Power Inlet and Connector Conversion Kit. This kit is going to upgrade your current 30-Amp, 125 volts power inlet and connector cable. This will allow you to take advantage of all the benefits of the SmartPlug system. When you're plugging in your RV or boat into shore power. This is very easy to get installed.

The connector is going to wire to your existing power cord. So you'll just remove the current connector and then get this wired in it's place. Very easy to do. They do include instructions to help you with that process and all the hardware tools or supplies that you'll need. You will need a few tools to get those wires stripped and put in place.

And then your inlet here is going to match up to the same twist style holes for your current inlet. So very easy to get that mounted in place, so that you can operate using all the benefits of the SmartPlug system. Those benefits include a connector that is going to plug in without twisting. So unlike your twist style connector, it's going to be very easy to get this installed, even in the dark, because it only plugs in one way. So we'll go in straight on like that.

And then you can see these tabs on the side here. Those are locking tabs. So once you get it pushed in enough, it's going to lock in place and you're going to have a nice, solid connection there. The lid will also provide a little bit of security there as it clamps down on the backside to make sure that the plug will not pull out. This does have a sleeve body to it.

So unlike your twist style connectors, the weight is going to be put on the housing here, on the sleeve, rather than on the connectors. So that's going to put a lot less pressure on those connectors, help them to have a better longevity and maintain a better connection. Those pins on the inside there, those are a straight nickel-plated, brass pin and that is going to optimize your electrical transfer by about 20 times more than your curve system design. So it's going to make sure that there's not excessive heat, so you're not going to have to worry about overheating and that sort of thing because of the resistance is going to be greatly diminished over the other style connectors. So very, very efficient connection there on the inside. You can see, we do have this waterproof seal. So as we plug this in, not only is that housing going to prevent the weight from being transferred to the pins but it's also going to prevent any water from getting into our connections there. So everything is going to be nice and waterproof, no water getting in, causing any issues there. Now these are made of really high quality materials. So our plastics are a UV and heat resistant Valox 553U resin. So they're going to hold up really well for you. The external metals are a Marine grade, 3/16 stainless steel. So very durable for you. All these components are made here in the USA. So you can trust they're made to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust products that are made here in the US. Including plugs or cords that will allow you to, not have to worry about wiring it yourself. You can just simply get that cord and the inlet. Get the inlet replaced on your RV and then use that cord in place of your current one.
