Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a quick look at this smart plug 30 amp RV power connector and black inlet. This is going to upgrade your 30 amp, 125 volt RV set-up from your traditional twist-type to take advantage of all the benefits that come with the smart plug system. So, our inlet mounting flange holes are going to match up with the holes for your twist-type inlet. So it's going to be very easy to get this mounted in place. They do include a foam gasket there to make sure you have a nice, snug fit.

And the instructions are going to walk you through that step-by-step how to get that installed. But it is going to match up with those original holes so very easy to get mounted in place. Our connector here is going to wire to your existing power cord. So you will just cut off the connector for your older style twist type and connect this in place. Again, instructions are included.

They give you the hardware and all the components that you're going to need to get that mounted onto your cord so that your cord will then work with your inlet. The benefits of the smart plug system if you're not familiar, we've got a straight-in connection. So we're not going to have to worry about finding the right angle to plug in and then twist. So it's going to be very easy to get hooked up even if you get to the campsite late and everything is dark. It only fits in the one way so it's very easy to slide that in place.

We do have the sleeved design. So that's going to take the weight and pressure off of our pins to hold our connector in place. So, we're not going to have to worry about the weight of the connector or the cable pulling down on our pins if we we're to trip over the connector or the cable, it's not going to harm those pins at all. All the weight and pressure is put on that sleeve. So, it's really nice design to help protect those pins.

Those pins are a straight, nickel-plated brass. That is going to help maximize your electrical transfer. So you're actually going to get about 20 times more contact with these pins than with your curved system style. So it's going to be less resistance, less heat build-up, a lot more efficient way of getting that electricity into your RV. This does also have a multi-point locking system so as we push in, these little stainless steel tabs here are going to click into place. So that we're going to have a nice, secure fit here to make sure that our cables not going to come loose. Then we can also lower the cap here, that's going to kind of catch the back-side of our connector there to make sure that it's not going to pull out. And then when we're ready to disconnect, we just push in on the tabs there and pull out. So it's going to be a nice, secure connection for us. This won't move as much once you have the screws installed and everything connected in place. But right now, it's just a little bit loose in there so that you can get behind it and get all your connections put in place. Our black cap is going to form a weather proof seal over our inlet. So when it's not in use we're not going to have to worry abut water, dirt, debris, getting in there. It's going to be nice and snug. It does have this foam rubber gasket there. It's going to make sure that it's nice and weather-tight. All these materials are really nice, high grade, durable. Our external metals, like I said, are a 316 marine grade stainless steel. The plastics are a UV and heat resistant resin. So everything's going to hold up really well. This is made here in the USA so you can trust it's made to the high-quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the U.S. So this is going to be really great kit for those of you who are wanting to switch out your system to take advantage of those smart plug benefits and don't mind a little bit of wiring for yourself. We do have other kits available and other products that won't take as much work to get this wired up. We do have cables that are already come connected or set-up for the smart plug system. So if you don't feel like taking that on we do have other options for you. And this is the black option so make sure that's going to work for your aesthetics on your RV.
