Rotating Arm with Ratcheting Hook

RockyMount 10007 MonoRail Solo Bike Rack Adjustable Arms

The MonoRail Solo has a ratcheting hook that s your bike firmly by the front wheel - not the frame. It's perfect for carrying a carbon bike or bike with a custom paint job. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook.

Pivoting Rear Wheel Cradle

RockyMount 10007 MonoRail Solo Adjustable Ratchet Straps

The rear wheel cradle accommodates a wide variety of bike wheelbases. It pivots front to back, adjusting automatically to your bike's wheelbase - no need for sliding and tightening. Secure the wheel in place with the built-in ratcheting strap. The strap also includes an extender for use with a fat bike.

Front-Mounted Release Lever for Easy Tilting

RockyMounts Mono Rail Solo Tilt Action Lever

When the rack is unloaded you can pull the lever to fold it up for storage. This means you don't have to remove it to park in small lots at the trail head or in cramped parking garages.

Easy Installation

RockyMounts MonoRail Anti Rattle Hitch Pin

It installs with a threaded, anti-rattle hitch pin. Simply slide the shank into your 2" hitch receiver, insert the threaded hitch pin, and tighten it down with the included tool. This will reduce noise and movement while the rack is installed.

RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Hitch Adapter

A removable adapter sleeve is included so the rack can be converted for use with 1-1/4" hitch receivers. The sleeve attaches to the shank with a single screw and can be installed or removed quickly.

Complete Security

RockyMount 1007 MonoRail Solo Built-In Cable Lock

Included locks secure your bike to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. The integrated cable lock threads around your bikes' frame and inserts into the lock that slides along the cable.

RockyMount MonoRail Solo Locking Hitch Pin

The hitch lock simply snaps onto the hitch pin and locks in place. The cable and hitch lock are keyed alike, so you'll only need 1 key for both locks.

Optional 1-Bike Add-On

RockyMount MonoRail Solo Add-On 1-Bike Extension

An optional 1-bike add-on (sold separately) allows you to convert the rack from a single bike carrier to a 2-bike carrier. This is great for occasions when a friend wants to tag along, or if you find a permanent riding partner.

This lightweight, 1-bike rack is perfect for carrying an e-bike, a fat bike, or a bike with a carbon frame or custom paint job. An available 1-bike add-on allows you to travel with a riding partner.

The rack is solidly built and hold the bike securely. The reason I purchased this rack is for single bike transport while being light weight and easy to handle. I am reducing one star due to the rather cheap feeling of the hitch pin lock. It feels mostly plastic with the exception of the internal locking mechanism. I would not put very much faith in it's security.

Great, Its what I grab 99 of the time

I love this bike rack. So compact when folded up, and I can open my hatchback with ease. When extended and carrying a bike, it's solid and dependable. Highly recommended. And dealing with etrailer is always a pleasure.

I am very pleased with the RockyMounts bike rack. The fit and finish are excellent and the anti-rattle mount actually works, NO rattling! I previously purchased the 2” receiver hitch and wiring harness from etrailer and couldn’t be happier. Thanks for fine products.

Happy with the bike mount for my new e mountain bike, nice and stable.

Feels solid, minimal wobbling. Easy to get bike on and off, and to access the trunk with the bike on. Like that it can be expanded to hold 2 bikes, and the relatively low cost. Used with a Curt hitch from this site on a 2017 Miata.

After a year of constant use, its still good, but requires occasional lubrication. Also the extension for the second bike has trouble with bolts coming loose, and requires loctite every time its installed. Finally, the wobble with 2 bikes on the 1 14 reciever is enough to make you drive a bit more carefully. If you can fit it, get the 2. For a single bike use I think this is still best bang for buck.

I just finished installing this rack on my 2017 Subaru Outback. I've been researching platform racks for about 2 months now, and the most important things to me (other than a reasonable price) were no frame contact, ease of getting the bike on and off the rack, not too heavy for me to take it off the car, and enough clearance in the back for me to close my garage door. This rack is perfect for me. And I like that it's expandable to two bikes if I want to do that down the line. It came very well packaged. I am a single gal and not handy AT ALL, but I was able to do the installation with no problem. I did put my bike on the rack and took a short test ride, it was very stable. Very solid well made product!

One year later, still loving my Rocky Mounts bike rack. Easy to get on and off when the seasons change, easy to take my bike on and off, doesnt interfere with my tailgate at all. I get lots of questions about it!

I don't like how high the platform sits, and I find it challenging to lift my Trek Dual Sport bike that high aligning the tires with the rack wheel supports. I'm using it on a mid-size SUV, and on that vehicle anyway, the rack sits too high above ground level. Notice in the Evangeline video reviews that she's only shown removing a bike and not hoisting one into position which requires more precise control of where the wheels are going.

The etrailer video reviews are important for customers making a purchasing decision and I think it's unfortunate that etrailer didn't mention this potential customer end use shortcoming. That's not to say that they deliberately glossed over it [the shortcoming], but we need factual reviews, the cons along with the pro features.

I like the locking ratchet mechanism with the release right on the movable hook. This puts my hands at the bike frame as I'm releasing the hook.

This was my very first purchase ever of a bike rack and I have to say that not only was the best price I found but also the most helpful with information on the various racks available. I wanted a single bike rack for my new eBike and after looking through numerous possibilities, finally decided on the Rockymounts Monorail Solo as not only did it fit the bill for a single bike but also has the advantage of an add-on rack should I ever decide I need to haul around two bikes rather than just one.

My major priorities were a rack that would safely hold the additional weight of an eBike, be easy to mount as I'm older and have a bad back on occasion and not break the bank with cost. After watching the available online video and using the easy-to-follow enclosed instructions and tools, I was able to install the RockyMounts Monorail Solo rack quite effortlessly by myself in less than 30 minutes.

Loading and unloading my bike (which weighs about 50 pounds) is quite easy and when not in use, the rack folds up close to the back of my car. Should I need to access the back of my Tucson while the bike is loaded, it's very easy to lean the rack forward and open the hatch. Overall I am very pleased with this product and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a solo rack.

There are certainly other good single bike racks available, but after a lot of research, I found the RockyMount MonoRail Solo Bike Rack to be the only single bike rack available that is 1) Light enough (25 lbs) for an octogenarian to lift & install, and 2) Tilts with the bike mounted to allow my SUV hatch to open,

Moreover, it is easily assembled and durable enough to hold up to 60# bike. ETrailer personnel were helpful in answering my questions.

Installed easily. Solidly made. Reasonable weight. Ample space between rack and hatch when not in use allows the hatch to open and close normally. Handles work properly. Easy to put the bike on and take off. Wheel tray distance from the ground is manageable, even with the higher weight of an e-bike. Tilt-away feature adds convenience. I use this rack for an e-bike with a downtube battery. By grabbing the front wheel and rear tire, the retention system does not interfere with the e-bike battery in any way (though I routinely remove it for travel) while leaving frame untouched. I only needed for one bike - the others easily go on the roof, but I like the option of adding a second carrier if and when needed.

Great rack! I bought this to take my bike across the country. Needed something that could easily allow me to ride when I wanted. It fit perfect on my Subaru Baja. The tilt function really made this rack functional while en route. I drove on some pretty gnarly roads and the rack held up great. It did get a little shaky and noisy when on loose gravel but that was to be expected. I've had the rack for about a year now and still no complaints.
When I received the rack the box was damaged and the rubber parts had some dings on them. Customer service was super helpful and made everything right.
Definitely recommend these guys over competitors.

I bought this rack to carry a Trek Verve+2 electric bike on back of 2019 Tundra. The rack was easy to assemble, only 6 screws and fitting to hitch. Instructions very clear, overall quality excellent. It doesn’t wobble at all because it is bolted to the hitch. Note that bar that fits across front wheel needs to be past top center of wheel, preferably against fork. So, if you have a front fender, you may have a problem. My Trek has a front fender, but I was able to go under it after adjusting it higher. I am close to forks, but not up against them, and it is very secure. On theft security, the two matching locks for hitch and a separate cable work well.

Product came on the day they expected it to arrive. Was very easy to put together and install. Having the videos and information about product on there website you know what to expect and to do before it even arrives. Bicycle rack seems well built and sturdy. Thanks Etrailer. Will be ordering a trailer hitch for my car in a couple weeks.

On my last trip the strap holding the back wheel broke and I ended up dragging my bike down the expressway

The manufacturer will reach out to you.

The rack works great, I have a RadRunner E-bike and it holds the weight of that well, was easy to install and super easy to take the bike on and off of, while also being sturdy. When I received it, some parts were missing, but I contacted customer service and they were kind enough to get me in touch with someone at RockyMounts who sent me parts

I probably should have done a bit more research, but unfortunately I am unable to open my rear doors with mount attached, even in the titled form. Other than that, the bike mount is nice and very well built. It’s quite heavy but not too bad. It’s easy to put your bike on it and easy to remove.

Not too heavy, the bolt for the hitch pin keeps things tight. I like the cable lock points, but the lock provided can be defeated with a steel toe boot. It seems to hold my carbon bike well, so I'm happy!

Easy to put together- Just Locks was not plastic

Easy to assemble in a few steps, included all tools necessary, plus locks and keys.
Lightweight but sturdy bike rack. Installed on a 2013 Prius C and the hatchback just clears the rack when not in use (added bonus!). Low profile design but with plenty of ground clearance.
No wobble design is a plus too.
Overall very impressed with the quality and fitment. And once again very happy with etrailer’s service and quick shipping.

Bought this Solo RockyMount rack for my E-bike. Not easy to find a bike rack that holds fat tires and the weight of the E-bike.
This bike rack is better than I had hoped for, very well built but light weight and my E-bike goes on it very easy.

This rack epicly FAILED.
1. First trip
out the ratcheting hook loosened and the bike fell off the rack and was carried behind my RV so I didn't see it. Pedestrian flagged me down and helped me hoist it back on the rack. Am sick and fearful that the next time the hook FAILS will be on the interstate with much more disastrous results. A welder service staff ratcheted it down, much stronger than me, so am trying to decide next steps.

2. Video has no info on how to use the attached lock. Welder service staff knew what to do,

3. There is no reference on how HIGH the bike has to be lifted to sit in the really wide cradle. This is not meant for most women to lift a 55 lb. ebike above your shoulders to sit on the cradles. One male neighbor even struggled with it.

4. Sorry that it took me months to pick the bike and use the rack or else I'd be returning this bad choice of a product!!!

What sort of vehicle was the bike rack installed upon? As mentioned above in the product description, this rack is meant for motorhomes and passenger vehicles, but NOT meant to be installed on a towed trailer/camper of any kind. A towed trailer will have a much stiffer suspension and a longer rear overhang which will subject the rack to more bouncing and rattling than it was designed to withstand. This could very well lead to the hook being loosened and the bike falling over on its side. The lifting height of the bicycle will be a function of the hitch height of the vehicle. The rack does need to provide a certain amount of ground clearance at the rear of the vehicle or it will bottom out when pulling out of sloped driveways or driving over speed bumps.
-- Etrailer Expert Mike L - 05/29/2019

I purchased this rack as it was one of the few on the market that would accomadate my 54 lb electric bike and was designed to hold a single bike. The rack was very well made with no vibration while driving my SUV. It took less than 1/2 hour to assemble the rack and hitch it to my vehicle.
I plan to use the rack to travel to other locations, with my bike, here in Southern New England. I also plan to use the rack transport my bike to Florida, where my my wife and I spend our winters.

working issues on long trips and bike is secure
Glenn - 06/21/2019

I think this bike rack is awesome. I purchased an eBike which was too heavy to put on the car top rack. (in fact I bent my roof a little putting the bike on top.) The answer was to get a bike rack rated for the weight of my bike and us the hitch on the car. The eBike rides great, the rack is perfect for my needs, and it works as designed. Awesome!

This is my first hitch rack, so my only basis of comparison is roof racks. In that respect this is much nicer because I don't have to remove the front wheel and don't have to lift the bike as high. The bike appears to sway more, but that's to be expected for numerous reasons.

There's so much clearance, I can open the trunk of my 2016+ Civic sedan with the rack folded up, or with a bike on it without needing to fold it away.

Only minor nitpicks:
I always seem to roll up to the rack with the bike facing the wrong way- it would be nice if it were set up for a bike rolled up from the usual sidewalk side of the car, but then rolling away wouldn't be as easy.

Whatever happened to the overcenter buckles for the wheel strap like my roof rack had? Now I have to yank on the strap to make sure it's tight instead of folding the lever down.

I'm not sure how this will deal with fenders on the front wheel when the rainy season hits, and even the arm pushing on the V-brakes makes me a bit nervous.

The coating on the arm (truck bed liner spray?) cracked a bit within the first couple of weeks, but it doesn't seem to be peeling off yet.

Due to my low hitch, the back of the rack occasionally scrapes on driveways. I haven't yet developed the habit of taking them diagonally to reduce the chance of scraping- it's not a problem with my driveway, just in front of some businesses. The back of the rack even has a stub of the main 1-1/4" drawbar sticking out that seems like a sacrificial piece- it doesn't seem to have any other reason for being there. Still, I've scraped the bigger, diagonal, box section piece.

This hitch pin to end dimension looks pretty similar to other racks, so it's more a function of my low hitch, but I would certainly like to know of other racks where scraping is less of an issue, maybe where the drawbar curves up quickly.

Pictured is a photo with a combination of Etrailer's dimensions and my measurements.

Love it. Solid. No slop. Easy adjustment.

  • Availability of RockyMounts MonoRail Solo 2 Bike Platform Rack with 2 Shank
The RockyMounts MonoRail Solo 2 Bike Platform Rack # RKY10007-05 is only available with the 1-1/4" shank that comes with the adapter sleeve for a 2" receiver. The section for a second bike can be removed though so that it's the exact same thing as the MonoRail Solo 1 # RKY10007. If your only reservation is about the adapter sleeve then I'd go with this bike rack because all of the other bike racks either can't carry up to two 60 lb bikes, or they can't be converted into a one bike rack. The RockyMounts MonoRail Solo, part # RKY10007, can handle e-bikes up to 60 pounds. So, it will be able to handle your e-bike perfectly well. The reason the expert stated it's "not for you if you need to carry an extra-heavy electric bike" is because some e-bikes can weigh all the way up to 75 pounds.
