I ordered 2 sets (4 chains total) of these tire chains for my V10 F250, which I use to plow a private dirt driveway on the north side of a mountain in rural Pennsylvania. It's two miles (actual odometer reading) uphill to the paved road from my house. Most years, along about February, the road ices up (because no sun and midatlantic sleet issues) and plowing becomes quite challenging. I figured getting tire chains might help the traction-on-ice problem. I plow the road between 10 and 15 mph, with the truck in 4wd. Since buying the chains I have run the truck up and back the road approximately twenty times with the chains on, plowing from 4 to 8 inches of snow, conducting rollbacks of shoulder, chopping up slush, etc. I have also used the truck (with chains) to pull out two other stuck vehicles that had run into ditches. At this point I feel like I can review the product because I've used 'em enough to have an opinion. 1. These tire chains add a lot of traction on ice. A lot. Enough to plow with and enough to pull out stuck vehicles while the "tow" vehicle is sitting on ice. 2. The chains look fine and are undamaged at this juncture. Since I've used them consistently with how I expect them to be used and they are fine, I'm happy with quality at this point. 3. Maybe I will improve with practice, but it's about thirty minutes of twinking around to get these straightened out, on the truck, tightened up, bungee'd, etc. in a way that I feel OK about driving with them. (That's why 4 stars instead of 5.) Once they're on, they seem to stay put fairly effectively. I do not drive on paved roads with these chains nor do I drive faster than (max) 20 mph so I can't speak to how they might do under those circumstances. I use them for additional traction for my plow truck while plowing my iced-up dirt road... and for that, they work as advertised.

2019 Toyota Tundra

Received today (1/13/22) and carefully inspected. The chains appear to be well-made, and a quick test fit was successful. Live in north Georgia, so needing the chains is not likely--but good to have in the event an emergency occurs after a good snow that requires transportation.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

This product was amazing it worked very well . They are easy to install and they are easy to remove. they make plowing my driveway so much easier because I have a couple of low spots that fill with water and turn to ice and with these chains I have not gotten stuck would highly recommend them to anybody they also work well going down tote roads when I'm ice fishing. 5 Stars

- PWH2828SC

These are a complete waste of money. Bought them last year and only used them once, they seemed to work fine. I didn’t need them for the rest of the winter. This year, on their 3rd use the cam tightener tool broke, really cheap metal. On their 4th use (needing a screwdriver and wrench to tighten the cams) they completely fell apart. 3 cross links broke on one chain, plus the outside latch fell off. Other chain seems fine which I don’t understand. Bottom line is after 4 uses totaling less than 30 miles, these chains are toast and I feel like an idiot for having purchased them...

- PWH2828SC

Researching which snow chains would best fit my needs was made easy on your website. The videos were absolutely helpful as well. Lastly, I was really surprised on how fast the order was filled and delivered. Ordered on the 5th... shipped on the 6th and then delivered from MO to CA on the 12th. Thanks

- PWH2828SC

Used them to pull my ice house off the lakes and over ice cracks that no trucks to get up or through. Then had to pull out the plow guide after he got his truck stuck in the 3 foot snow drifts. Already paid for themselves.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado

I bought a pair of these to carry in my truck after seeing another Chevy Silverado get badly stuck in snow in the Gravelly Mountains in Montana while elk hunting in 2019. Fast forward to the 2020 elk season, and I kept getting stuck and sliding sideways trying to get back through melting snow drift in the Castle Mountains. Once I put these chains on the front of my truck it crawled through the snow like I was driving on dry on pavement. They were fantastic. Unfortunately the back of the truck kept trying to slide downhill (I was on a sidehill) because I only had chains for the front tires, so I have now ordered a second set. I HATE putting on chains and have been able to avoid doing so for 35 years, but when you really need them they are life savers. In terms of installation, these were very easy to put on, in spite of being stuck in snow and mud. The cam tensioners work great for taking up slack on the chains, but adding the Multi-Arm rubber adjusters really makes the chains fit tightly.

Had trouble getting out to get wood, a good amount of snow and ice underneath. Put on the chains and the old truck walked right through. We'll see how they hold up but I am very satisfied.

- PWH2828SC

Works excellent. Bites through the ice and doesn't wash all over in slushy conditions.

2012 Toyota Tundra

these are nice heavy chains. however, i felt the workmanship was a bit under-par. the welds, especially on the twist links which form the cross-members were rough and when you add the galvinizing to that, they are difficult to lay out flat prior to installation. the rough welds hang-up and you have have to do some "creative twisting" to get all the links into proper position. this problem was only in a few places. but, i can foresee some frustration if i have to find those kinks in the snow and with numb fingers. i discovered the problem when i laid the chains out on my garage floor as i was inspecting the chains the day i received them. this is May and so i can't say how they will perform this coming winter. i expect they will do well, but chains, by nature, are a tangled mess when you first pull them out. it should not have to be an extra struggle do to rough surfaces.

Hi Patrick-The chains were a gift for my son who hunts near the Canadian border. He was unable to make the trip last season so i have no am writing to say, thumbs-up to etrailer for providing follow-up reviews. So many times when reading reviews i wonder, did the product stand the test of time? Many thanks to you and the folks who take the time to write their updates!I wi sh ever y site would follow your example.

Toyota Tacoma

Bought the Glacier v-bar chains for the rear tires in extreme conditions and the Titan cable chains for lighter duty, also to be installed on the rear tires. Videos show that the cable-chains can be installed on the front tires of a 2020 or greater Toyota Tacoma, though not recommended by the owner’s manual. These cables are S-class compatible so they should work on the front tires, however caution should be taken as appropriate. I would recommend only installing on the front tires after the v-bar chains have been installed on the rear tires and extra traction is deemed worthy. Both the Glacier and Titan multi-arm adjusters were ordered in support of the chains. Parts arrived as ordered in a timely fashion. Have not installed or used these products at the time of review.

- PWH2828SC

Recently we got 12-14 inches of snow here in N.C. and put these chains on 1 day ahead of the snow. Installation was very simple as especially since has the accompanying instruction video which was great. I couldn't believe how easy it was. Then came the driving. We had ice first for a few hours and then the heavy snow. I had a 14 mile round trip to make and here's what stopped me....NOTHING! My truck drove on the snow and ice like a snow plow, never skidding, never sliding, and I was traveling about the recommended 30-35 mph., and even the steep country road hills made NO difference. My truck went up inclines and curves as if I was driving on dry pavement. The "V" bars on each link made all the difference, and I will never buy "regular" chains again. Hats off to Glacier chains for ruggedly, well built chains that not only hold up and work well, but work better than I ever expected. Kirk

- PWH2828SC

I haven't used the products but they look like what was advertised and the company, was just great to get the snow chains to me in time for my trip to Mammoth Lakes. Luckily I didn't need to use the chains since I had some great tires but they looked very well built and at a very good price. The bags I plan to use on my inflatable 13" boat and they are well made and it seals with folds and velcro. Looks water tight. If you leave air in the bag, it will float and you won't deep six the items. The other items look sturdy and capable of doing the job as intended. I was happy with the concern exhibited by the staff. I would buy from them again.

2015 Pontiac Trans Sport Van

Appears to be as described, however, I have not used or tried them on my truck yet. I purchased them to keep on my truck. I'm starting a business with an RV transport company in Indiana just in case they have a load for me in snow weather conditions. Great product so far. I'm waiting for your Demco Auto slide fifth wheel hitch 21k to go back on sale.

I purchased these for my husband and will have to do my review in 2 parts. My husband has not had time to open the box the chains arrived in. I will address the service provided by today. I ordered the chains rather late in the evening and to my delight, I received notification that they had shipped my order that night. Inadvertently my unit number was left off of the order (my error) and again, late at night, I emailed etrailer and the next morning I awoke to a message that the problem was taken care of and I should get the order in a day or two. They were delivered that day. I ordered them 1/7/15 on 1/13/15 they were delivered. It took "longer" because of my error. I think I received superior customer service and still think that the time it took for the delivery (free) was excellent. Once my husband actually opens the box I will add to the review about the product. Customer service like this needs to be applauded immediately.

2013 Toyota Tacoma

This is my first set of chains that I have ever bought. I have a 2013 Tacoma 4x4 TRD with BFG All-Terrain 275/70R16 tires. I put them on today 7/26/13 and I must say I am a very impressed. The V-Bar chain is outstanding for off-road traction. I only tried them out on the rear wheels in about 12" of mud but I was able to get through without 4WD. I would highly recommend them if you are a hunter or if you do some serious off-roading.

2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

They went on fairly easily, seemed strong and seemed secure. The problem was that the first time that we needed them, two of the chains came off and we lost one of them. My husband and I haven't used chains before... so maybe it was user error (hence the 3 star review instead of a 2 star), but we put them on according to the instructions... so either the instructions are poorly written or the product wasn't as good as it should have been.

1981 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup

I have to rate these 5 star so far. They came in good shape, As expected. I've used chains a good bit before and wanted a set for my pickup. I am going to test fit them in the driveway when i get a chance. I would recommend these to anybody looking for a good honest set of tire chains. I would advise getting the ones with the V bars like these have. They don't hurt anything and really help in ice! if your cross-members are coming off the side chains, either use a hammer and anvil and curl the hooks over or get a chain tool and just pinch each hook over. Simple fix. These chains appear solid to my well-trained chain eyes. I know where to go for another set.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Just put them on my truck. OMG! Talk about getting out of a sticky situation. We have a 27' camper and couldn't get it thru the yard. I put the glacier chains on and the truck moved with ease. I would recommend these chain and this company ETrailer. I've ordered several times with confidence. Thank you Etrailer!

The snow chains were for a trip to Colorado, where I may need them. I checked the fit and they worked great. Although I did not need them but it was good to have them. In Texas I don't think I will need them so unused I will keep them.

2005 Chevrolet Colorado

I was purchasing some chains for use on Colorado Forest Roads for an upcoming mid-november elk hunt. I called in and the woman on the phone was very helpful, and they arrive in less than 48 hours. I am a little bit bummed that on the side of the paper thin cotton-ish sack these came in it says Made in China, but nowhere on the site does it say that these are imported. I am aware that Glacier is a product of Pewag, but did not realize that it was a China made version. The mention of Pewag in the description of these chains should be followed up by either "Imported", "Made in China", or some other description making it clear on where these were made. I laid them out at home and didn't see any defects, so visual quality seems fine. I hope they hold up, and if we end up using them I will be sure to follow up.

  • Tire Chains For 29x10.50-15 Tires
I have a solution for you, but there are not any V-chain style tire chains for the 29x10.50-15 tires. You will instead want to go with pewag All Square Snow Tire Chains for Wide-Base Tires - 1 Pair # PWE3210S. • Recommended Tire Chains for Emergency Situation with 285/70R17 Tires on a 2012 Ford F-150
The best tire chains for a worst-case scenario for the 285/70R17 tires you have on your 2012 Ford F-150 would be the Pewag All Square Snow Tire Chains # PWE3229S. These chains have bigger 7-mm-thick square links that are designed to be used for on-road and off-road applications which makes them perfect if you slid off of the road. In some situations where the owners manual says not chains but you legally have to have them you can call a dealer in the mountain area...

  • Are the Rubber Adjusters # PW99 Needed for 265/70R17 Tires on a 2003 Ford Expedition
I do recommend using the Glacier Rubber Adjusters, # PW99, with the Glacier Tire Chains, # PWH2828SC, with size 265/70R17 tires. I found an owners manual for your 2003 Ford Expedition and it says Ford only recommends using cable style chains or Ford accessory tire chains on your Expedition. For cable style snow chains, I recommend going with the Titan Cable Chains,...

The Glacier chains part # PWH2828SC are a fit for your 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 with 265/60-20 tires and would work well. The correct tensioners to use are the part # PW105. These are the nicest tensioners we carry and would be the best choice. I attached an install video for the tire chains as well.
