These are real heavy duty adjusters. Unless you have 12 to maybe 14 inch wheels, go with the 16-20 inch size. I installed them on a 16 inch Dodge Dakota wheel and the rubber is very difficult to stretch across the wheel, let alone make the other three attachments. 172030

Comments

I really like the chains, they are so much easier and lighter than thechains of my younger years. However, I still feel the same about theadjusters. They are much too small andor not flexible enough, making itvery difficult to stretch them, even just across the wheel. My wife wouldnever be able put them on should the need arise. I suggest you find adifferent supplier for that product or a different brand.

I tried them on; and they fit well. I'll be ready for my subdivision's icy conditions next time. Thanks for the rapid service, and here are some photos from the test today; though you may not want to use the tension photo, because the clips should have been rotated to the next section 110018

Received 2 sets of 12" rubber chain spreaders and they were of the highest quality I've ever seen. I was more than satisfied with the product. I live in Pittsburgh, PA, called your location in St. Louis late Friday afternoon, and the product was delivered the following Tuesday. The person I spoke to in St. Louis was a pleasure to deal with and had an excellent knowledge of the product that I ordered. I would highly recommend your company and would deal with you people again without hesitation. Thank you. 172442

BOUGHT CHAINS FOR WINTER TRAVEL: THEY DID A GREAT JOB IN KEEPING SNOW AWAY FROM MID-MISSOURI LAST WINTER. I "SHOVELED" ONLY 4 INCHES ALL YEAR. LATE OCTOBER TRIP TO ESTES PARK; THEY KEPT THE BAD WEATHER AWAY ALSO. THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN SNOW. I ONLY WISH THEY WOULD ALLOW FOR COOLER WEATHER IN MISSOURI IN AUGUST AND NOW IN SEPT & NOVE. I WILL HAVE TO SEE IF THEY CONTINUE TO "WORK" AT KEEPING THE SNOW AT BAY FOR THE WINTER OF 2016-17. YOUR PRODUCTS ARE GREAT AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EVEN BETTER! ! 316774

Having just tried out this chain tightener for fit, I can attest that it does what it's supposed to do. The hooks were loose on the rubber and easily fell off (thus, 4 stars), so I gently squeezed them a bit in a vice, just enough that they no longer fall off of said rubber "doughnut" when being handled. It was relatively warm when I tested them for fit (30 degrees F.). I suspect that this "rubber band" will be somewhat harder to stretch in colder weather. 449851

I bought a set of chains and tire chain tightners, but haven't gone North yet, live in Atlanta, so I haven't used either. But I do have to say your ordering and follow up are the greatest. Was never too busy to answer my questions, ands nevere put on hold or got some computor generatyed answer..the products look great, much different and definetly much lighter than the chains I used when living in Pa. Thank you all for your help and thoughtfulness. 61536

I ordered three sets of chains. One for my van, one for my small truck and one for my big truck. The chains with the cams are very nice and easier to deal with. Don't buy the rubber rings with hooks that is used to keep the chain centered, it is cheap and will not last the winter. Buy the short rubber straps at any hardware, they work perfectly. These are adequate chains for moderate use. 293906

These worked very well for the chains that I bought last year. I drive a 1998 4Runner Limited with 16" rims. It took a little bit of practice centering the chains on the tire so definitely do so before you get a bunch of snow. If it seems like this tensioner is too tight, doublecheck that the chains are positioned on the tire correctly and not too far in toward the wheel well. 324903

Fortunately I didn't have to use it. I purchased it just in case it became necessary to put the chains on when we went through the Rockies. Looks well made, and glad to have purchased them. Just noticed below though, that your instructions pdf links are both dead. Would have been nice to stick a copy of both of them in the bag for future use. 372125

The quality of the Rubber adjuster looks good but unfortunately the ones that were recommended for my tire/rim size are way to small. I pulled so hard to install them I nearly broke the rubber and that was on a 60 degree day and still couldn't get more than 2 hooks attached. Other than that they should work great for the right application. 168621

If your chains do not come with built in tensioners, this product is an absolute must have. Mine were easy to attach and held perfectly through a lot of miles in heavy snow. If they are cleaned with soapy water after the season is over, they should last for several years. An excellent product! 121331

I appreciate that you/your company does follow ups to purchases after a year. I think that is great. That being said, since ordering the tire cables/chains, it has not snowed enough to use them! I have saved this email and promise to review them once we actually get to use them. Thanks again!! 351864

Went to new style chains. Too difficult to put on when it's snowing and not ideal conditions (like a nice dry garage or driveway). the tensioners are to stiff in the winter and my wife cannot install correctly. Would not recommend the chains OR the tensioners. 323590

  • Tire Chains for a 2013 Mini Cooper with 195/55-16 Tires
  • The old tire chain paradox: owners manual says no chains but in some places the law requires chains. It is related to Mike's Law which states that if chains are required by law then of course the vehicle owners manual says not to use chains. It happens a lot and I know exactly the type of chains you need. The good news is that all of the cables and chains for a 2013 Mini Cooper with 195/55-16 tires are Class S compatible which means they require very little clearance. I have linked...

  • Class S Tire Chain Definition and Recommendation for a 2007 Honda Odyssey with 235/65R-16 Tires
  • The Glacier Square-Link Snow Tire Chains, # PWPLC1142, are compatible for use on vehicles that require a Class S or smaller tire chain, like your 2007 Honda Odyssey. Class S refers to limited clearance tire chains that measure 15mm or less at the side walls and 37mm or less across the tread of the tire they are designed to fit. Because your vehicle has limited wheel well and front suspension clearance you will want to make sure these chains are as tight as possible when installed on...

  • Availability of Tire Chains For a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe With 235/60R18 Tire Size
  • You will first want to check your owners manual or with the Hyundai dealer to determine if you can use snow tire chains on your 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe, or if there are any limitations. Many newer vehicles require SAE Class S chains which mean the chain can be no larger than 15mm for side wall clearance on the vehicle. The sidewall clearance is needed so that the snow chains will clear any part of the vehicle that is close to the inner and outer sidewall of the tire. Most of the newer...

  • Available Tire Chains for Tire Size 195/65-15 on a 2008 Hyundai Elantra
  • We do have chains for tire size 195/65-15. I have included a link to the available chains below. They may not have appeared by searching the vehicle if the 15 inch rim was not an original or widely used option. You will want to check the owners manual for your 2008 Hyundai Elantra to determine if chains can be used and if there is a specific class rating or minimum clearance required when using chains. I have included a link to our tire chain FAQ article below that contains a lot of good...

  • How To Install Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains # PW1038 On My 2002 Toyota Sienna
  • To install the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains, part # PW1038, you will want to drape the tire chain over the tire and then slowly drive forward over the chain. Then connect the hook to a link in the chain on each side of the wheel so the chain is snug. I have linked a video installation of another model of the Glacier chains to show the installation procedure (see video link). I would also recommend using the Glacier Rubber Adjusters, part # PW100, which will take any extra slack out...

  • Are Adjusters, # PW100, Required when Using Snow Chain # PW1034
  • The Glacier Tire Chains for the 2000 Honda Accord, part # PW1034, are correct for your 2000 Honda Accord, and they do not require adjusters, but they are recommended. If you wanted adjusters you would need Glacier Rubber Adjusters for Class S Snow Chains - 1 Pair, part # PW100. They would make fitting and tightening the chains much easier and quicker. You should check the owners manual of your vehicle to make sure that your vehicle is capable of using tire chains. I have also included...

  • Affordable Snow Tire Chains for Tire Size 205/50-16
  • We do have chains that fit the 205/50-16 tire size but Thule chains # TH01221065 are not listed as a fit. For a set of chains in the same price range, take a look at Glacier chains # PWPLC1134. These chains will fit your tire size and offer steel square chain links for good traction. They are Class S compatible meaning they only require up to 12mm of clearance around the tires. I have included a link to a video review for you. I also recommend tensioners to keep the chains taught and...

  • We have numerous tire chain options for your 2008 Ford Escape with 235/70-16 tires. I have included a link to all of the tire chains that will fit your tire size for you to review. A Class S tire chain will need to have 37mm or less clearance above the chain and 15mm or less clearance out from the sidewall.
