Excellent product! I just installed it today in about 30 minutes. I am just your average DIYer and this installation was as easy as it appeared in the install video, with no surprises whatsoever. It looks like a factory installed product, works great, and gives me the piece of mind I was looking for. I installed the Pop N Lock on a 2015 Toyota Tacoma with a back up camera. So I got the handle in the mail, opened up my tailgate, followed the thorough step by step instructions provided, and about 30 minutes later I had a functional locking tailgate! Super easy and worth it for my valuables and tailgate! One suggestion, wear gloves because that sheet metal on your truck is sharp.

The package was left here on a Sunday afternoon when no one is at the business to receive packages. Tracking says it will take 10 days to figure out where the package is. Really?

Hint, to reverse the driver side rod end for end, you also have to reverse the locking clip so that the rod is now able to slide in from the bottom and then locking the clip.
Also a borrowed hint, while opening the tail gate push in on the tail gate to relieve some of the pressure on the releasing lock arm. It may extend the life of the locking mechanism. My first one lasted about ten years, so overall I’m very pleased with the lock.

I like the product....except this is my second one. I bought one a few years ago to secure the contents of my truck bed, (I have a cover) and to protect the tailgate from being stolen. Actually this was the only tailgate lock that I could find. The plastic handle broke and so I could open my tailgate or cover. It took a while to figure out how to open the tailgate and cover. Perhaps the quality of the plastic could be better. Otherwise it works well.

My tail gate lock has worked perfectly over the past year. I can now store tools and parts with with reasonable expectation of security.
My only regret is not knowing that the tail gate lock was available with a backup camera.

2015 Toyota Tacoma
I ordered the tailgate lock, with a knock for the backup camera which I already had, for my 2012 Tacoma in the late evening and could hardly believe when I received a call mid morning the next day saying that the lock was shipped and I would receive it before the end of tomorrow. Well, it arrived mid afternoon the next day! I did pay for next day service because I was traveling on the road and needed it before I moved on with scheduled reservations. But I have to say that etrailer.com did their part very well in getting the part out extremely fast. They also sent an email out to confirm the shipping
After reading the very clear and precise instructions, rounding up a couple of tools, the installation took only about 15 minutes, max 20 minutes. The lock assembly looks and works just great. It looks like it came like that from the factory.
I would not hesitate to use etrailer.com for any product in the future.

Product quality appears excellent. Installation was a breeze. “How to” vid from mfr was very helpful. I sprayed WD40 on the plastic clips to make removal and reinstallation of the rods a bit easier. Don’t use tools to remove clips from rod, they may break and snap off. Use fingers and combo of force and finesse!

I've had this tailgate lock for nearly a year. The tailgate lock was easy to install, and appeared to be of acceptable quality manufacture. I'm treating the lock and lever assembly carefully as it appears and feels like it wouldn't take hard lifting without failing. Although nothing has failed to this point, I don't think it would take hard use.

After the 2nd year of having the device installed, the item has not held up in the SW climate. The black finish has long since turned a dull grey, even with routine application of restoration product. The renewed black only lasts several days. The locking mechanism has a nice rollover when locking the device, but when unlocking, the key simply rolls to the unlock position with no resistance. That has me concerned that it could unlock on its own. That hasnt occurred yet, however. It would be beneficial to see higher quality material used.

It is a little finicky if anything is putting pressure on the tailgate, but it always works. I am happy with the purchase.

Shipping of the tailgate handle was excellent & the install was a breeze. Very good instructions & detailed. My only complaint is that the tailgate doesn’t open immediately when I pull up on the handle. Possibly an adjustment on the rods or latch mechanisms would correct this. Nice to be able to lock it though with the cover installed

Product was very easy to install by the provided written instructions, and the installation video provided on the order confirmation e-mail.
The lock and latch mechanism work perfectly.
My tailgate had a camera, but no lock. I was excited to find a product with a lock, that still accepted my camera. Looks like a factory installation.
One suggestion:
The pictures on the paper installation instructions are a little dark, making it difficult to pick out some of the reference points. Clearer pictures would help.
