Video Transcript for K-Source Electric Towing Mirrors withTurn Signals Installation - 2009 GMC Sierra

Today on our 2009 GMC Sierra we're going to be taking a look at and installing the K-souse custom extendable mirrors with turn signals, electric heated. They come as a pair, part number KS62093-94G. Here's what it looks like once it's installed. Now you can see we've moved our line of sight out considerable away from our vehicle. We can see all the way to the end of our trailer with plenty of room to spare. It's going to make it really nice for when you're changing lanes in traffic. As you can see it's got that nice texture like the factory mirrors have.

It's going to fit in the original mirror location and it's a lot larger then our factory mirrors so it's going to give you a lot better view of your trailer. Now your mirror is going to have this nice large spotter mirror on the bottom as well to catch things that are going to be in your blind spot and they will extend out, they're telescopic. It's going to give you 4 more inches to help with your line of sight especially at the end of your trailer and when you're done towing simply slide back in. Now they do have the fold away feature. If you we're to contact with something it's going to fold back against the body or to park it in a tight quarters area.

These are going to be heated and they are also going to have the turn signal built into the glass. They're still going to operate as your power mirrors did, your OE mirrors. They're going to bolt right into the factory footprint so you're not going to have to any modifications and everything is going to plug in in the OEM style connector. Now one things that's going to set this apart form some of the other mirrors on the market is this is going to have the largest surface area of glass in our mirror area to give you the best overall view of the rear side of our vehicle. Now these mirrors extended are going to measure 22 and a half inches and the retracted length is going to be 18 and a half inches. They're going to measure 12 inches tall and 7 and 3 quarter inches wide. If your vehicle is not already equipped with a heated power mirror with a turn signal, these are not going be an upgrade for your vehicle.

Now let's go ahead and show you how to install them. Now our first step is going to be, we're going to have to remove our door panel. To do so you want to make sure it's the up position. You can take a small, flat bladed screwdriver and pry up gently. Once you have it pulled out a little bit you're going to slide this up and off. We'll set that aside.

Now we're also going to need to remove this panel right here to access a couple of bolts that are behind it. We're going to use our same flat bladed screwdriver. We'll pull that out. There's going to be two 10 millimeter bolts in there. There's another access panel right here. There's going to be one 10 millimeter bolt in there. Now we're going to need to remove this grab handle here. On the bottom side there's going to be a little access that we'll put our screwdriver in and we'll gently pull out and it's going to release these tabs. Now we're also going to need to remove this black filler panel up here. You need a larger flat blade screwdriver or a panel tool, stick it in behind. We'll gently pry it away, releasing these 3 metal tabs. Then we'll take our 10 millimeter socket and take out these bolts. Now you might want to have a magnet handy because sometimes these will roll around, so you can catch them. Now these 3 bolts are going to be the same with a captured washer on there. The two 10 millimeter that come out of this grab handle are going to be a shoulder design. Then we're simply going to remove this handle and set it to the side. We're going to need to pop up this switch plate and we're going to need to pop loose the clips that are attaching the door panel from the backside. Let me just stick the screwdriver or a panel tool behind there. Once you can just use your fingers and we'll just pull it away so we have it released all the way around. We're going to slip it up. We're going to let it just hang there on the wires and we're going to take out his piece of foam. That's going to get us access to the three 10 millimeter nuts that are going to be located inside our door panel. Now we're going to have to take the clips our that hold the wiring so we're going to release those clips. I'm going to come down here to our switch panel. We're going to have to remove the white and the black connectors. Now our new mirror is only going to have 1 plug on the end as opposed to this factory one had 2 because it had a power folding feature, which these new mirrors do not have because they're a manual fold design. We're going to take our wiring, feed it up out and we're going to loosen up these three 10 millimeter nuts. Now you want to make sure you're holding on to the mirror as you loosen that last bolt. You may have to take your panel tool to release it, going to pop that clip out. As you can see it was a nice, hard plastic clip that was inside there. It was holding it in place for assembly purposes. I'm going to feel our mirror up, pulling out both the plugs and we'll set this aside. Now we'll take our new K-Source mirror. It's going to be marked left, the L at the end of the numbers. We're going to take our plug, insert it inside. Now our new mirror is not going to have that hard plastic clip that's gong to hold it in place so you might want to get somebody to help you if you can't reach around. Now you can take your nuts, it could help if somebody is holding it on the other side. Once you get one started it will hold it in place and we'll just start all 3 of our bolts. Now we'll slowly run them down and you'll seat into position. Now you want to make sure you put this piece of foam back in, this is going to stop wind noise on the inside of your door panels. We'll just tuck it around our wires and feed it in there. We can take our cable, we'll snap it back into the original wholes. We're going to route it back around the way it was underneath the factory harness, allowing it to come out. We're going to plug it back into the one that was marked black. Now we're going to take our door panel and we're going to set it back into place. Now make sure we keep our wiring out from behind, where the bolts are going to go, inaudible 00:07:59 our grab handles. We're going to go ahead and line up all of our clips. Once we have them lined up you can tap that back into position and we're start lining up our bolts. Lift up our handle and we can go ahead and tighten down those 3 bolts. We'll take our wiring harness, we'll tuck it back down in and snap our switch panel back into place. We're going to install our grab handle. You can see it's notched out to fit inside the door. You can start them with a magnet, it might make it a little bit easier. Take our trim piece, the notch side is going to go to the bottom, we're going to slip it in the top first and we'll slowly work our way around and snap in the bottom. Same with these, you can go ahead and snap it into place, followed by this one. Now this is going to have a little tab on it that's going to correspond with that 2nd whole in the back there and we'll replace our trim piece, snap it into place. Now while it's in the out position we're going to side this down until it just touches and we'll snap that back in. Now you'll see it's flat against the top when it's locked and that's what we're looking for. We'll do the same thing for the other side. That's going to do it for our look at and install of the K-Source custom extendable towing mirrors with turn signals, electric heated in a pair, part number KS62093-94G on our 2009 GMC Sierra.

They fit good on my 2012 sub, but they don’t always work electrically as they should. Sometimes I can’t adjust them the first time I try. Eventually they work. I would buy them again because they fit easily and they are big so you are able to see well. 633104

I spoke with the folks at K-source about what your mirrors are doing. Please check the plug in connections and make sure the connectors are fully seated.

The mirrors installed easily enough; it would have been nice to have tips on how to remove the inner door panel. They work great, and do not look like they've been exposed for a year. 625333

After giving much thought and reading many reviews on aftermarket mirrors I decided to add a pair of K Source mirrors to my 2013 Silverado 1500. I decided on these and couldn’t be happier. The fit and finish of the mirrors and beautiful. My factory mirrors were power but didn’t have the turn signals in them, but after I installed the new ones the turn signals work. Definitely a bonus! The customer service at etrailer was awesome, I was helped by Judy and see was great! Highly recommend these mirrors. 613772

Arrived as scheduled and the packaging was very good. The mirrors are very sturdy and don't vibrate at all. Installation time wad about one hour but I have had some experience in removing the inner door parts. I do think if you do not have any experience with them the installation will be longer. Everything works great and advertised and again etrailer.com comes through. 243578

'09 Silverado C1500. I started with the CIPA Slip On mirror extenders, they were okay, economical, but didn't feel I could see along the curb side of the trailer well enough. It was always a guess as to whenI had overtaken a vehicle before making the lane change to the right. Recently bit the bullet and laid out the cash for the K-Source Custom Extendable Towing Mirrors. Wish I would have done this sooner! I have read reviews about these type replacement mirrors with some noting a shaking or vibration in the main mirror. These are rock solid. I have also seen reference to the mirrors canted upward, arms not parallel to the ground, NOT the case for these when installed on my '09 Silverado. To those not familiar with what was standard for this year model, you could mistake them for OEM. FIt is perfect. It took a couple drives to get use to the vertical height, as compared to the horizontal width of the OEM mirrors. While a bit of a trade-off, one that I see as well worth it. It has been easy to get the driver side dialed in to completely eliminate the blind spot, still adjusting the passenger side mirror to find that sweet spot to eliminate the blind spot while still maintaining the ability to see the trailer wheels to know where they are tracking. Haven't towed the 5th wheel yet, will post an update but am confident I will have the visibility along the passenger side to better gauge lane changes to the right. 168150

Installed on 2008 Gmc Sierra Sle. OEM mirrors were power adjust with defrost function. New mirror allowed me to add the turn signal function, however I did check the wiring harness to ensure it was compatible to take this function before the purchase. New mirrors were good quality just as good as OEM if not better. Installed they definately enhance the trucks overall appearance. I will be using these to tow a 30’ travel trailer so the larger mirror surface will help with visibility of the trailer. The only con is the main mirror in the housing does slightly vibrate when hitting bumps in the road, its very minor though and otherwise is stable on smooth surfaces. 526257

These mirrors are very obviously high quality and they look great on my truck. I'm very happy that I was able to retain the power adjustability and heated functions, as well as the turn signal in the mirror. A bit of a bummer that I can no longer press a button and fold them in, but that's really not a feature that I use often at all, so this really won't affect me. Only reason for giving these 4 stars is because once installed and driving, the glass vibrates ever so slightly. Aside from that, they are very clear and high quality. I'll look into fixing the vibration myself with some foam or something like that, but all in all these mirrors are a good buy and I'd recommend them to other people looking for tow mirrors. 375607

Do you have a question about this Custom Towing Mirror?

  • Compatibility of Extendable Towing Mirrors on 2010 GMC Sierra with Heat and Electric But No Signal
  • The K-Source Custom Extendable Towing Mirrors - Electric/Heat w LED Signal - Textured Black - Pair # KS62093-94G will work with your 2010 GMC Sierra that has stock mirrors with heat and electric. The LED functions however will not work unless you hardwire that function by tapping into your turn signal power on each side and either determining the harness pin or bypassing it to the corresponding wire in the mirrors.

  • Replacement Mirror Recommendation for 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
  • Yes, you can replace the mirrors on your 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with ones that have the heat function like the K-Source kit part # KS62093-94G and they will function just fine on your truck but they would just not have the heat function.

  • Towing Mirror Recommendation for a 2013 Chevy Silverado
  • The K-Source Mirrors part # KS62093-94G that you referenced have been confirmed to fit your 2013 Chevy Silverado. But since you do not have the heat option these alone would not give you that function. You could try going to a Chevy dealer to see if they could give you the needed wiring harness so that this circuit would be active with these mirrors.

  • Can Aftermarket Mirrors Provide Additional Functions Not Present on OEM Mirrors
  • An aftermarket mirror can only have the functions that were factory installed on the OEM mirror. The wiring for supporting a heated mirror's power needs will not be present on a vehicle that did not have that heat feature when it left the factory and it cannot be retro-fitted. Any item with a heat function will typically draw substantially more power and requires separate power wiring from the factory.

  • What is the Difference Between K-Source and Fit System Towing Mirrors for a 2011 Chevy Suburban
  • Fit System is the economy brand of K Source. There are several brand names under the K Source umbrella. The K Source models seem to be the higher quality option. K Source mirrors # KS62093-94G for your 2011 Chevy Suburban have electric operation, heat, and turn signals. There is a less expensive set, # KS62077-78G, which has manual operation but no other options.

  • My contacts at K-Source have confirmed that the # KS62077-78G mirrors are a fit for the 2008 GMC Sierra. These are manual mirrors, and will not electrically adjust. The mirrors use the factory mounting locations, so they look like OEM towing mirrors, not something that was slapped on there as an afterthought. If your OEM mirrors are power-adjustable, are heated and have the turn signals in the mirror face, part # KS62093-94G would retain those features for you.

The connector for heated versus non-heated mirrors and/or turn signals versus no turn signals should be the same so it will plug in and you just won't have the heat or turn signal features and you will lose the puddle lamps that were on the stock side mirrors.

  • Towing Mirrors for 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 With Heat and Power Functions Only
  • To retain the heat and power adjustment features of your OEM mirrors, I recommend going with the K-Source Custom Towing Mirrors, # KS62093-94G. These towing mirrors are compatible with the power, heat and turn signal functions, but since your truck did not come with the turn signal function, you simply not have that function with these towing mirrors. These mirrors will still work with the power and heat functions and they will replace your OEM mirrors.

  • Can Turn Signal Functions be Added by Switching to Towing Mirrors for a 2011 GMC Sierra 3500HD
  • If the stock mirrors on your 2011 GMC Sierra 3500 do not have a turn signal function then that function cannot be added even if the towing mirrors have it. There is the outside chance that the wiring and other provisions for the turn signals in the towing mirrors to function is already present on the truck but I cannot guarantee that so if you plug in and mount the towing mirrors and the signals do not work then the truck is just not set up for it. If they do work then that's a bonus! For...

  • Wire Functions of 8-Wire Towing Mirrors for a 2001 Chevy Silverado and Where to Connect Them
  • The fact that your factory mirror wiring harness has 3 pins and the one on the mirrors has 5 pins plus an additional 3-wire harness would indicate that your factory mirrors lack at least 2 of the functions that the towing mirrors have. Those functions, whatever they are, will not work since the factory mirrors did not have them. Can you tell me the manufacturer and part number of the towing mirrors you have? The 3-wire harness, if not labeled, is probably for the lighting functions you...

  • Custom Fit Replacement Towing Mirrors for a 2012 GMC Sierra
  • Yes, you can install K-Source custom towing mirror # KS62094G on your 2012 GMC Sierra even if the truck did not come with factory towing mirrors. This mirror has electric operation, heat, and turn signal functions. If your factory mirrors did not have one or any of these options then by installing the towing mirrors will not give you those functions. The set, driver and passenger side, is # KS62093-94G. I have linked a video review for you.

  • Will the K-Source Custom Extendable Towing Mirrors Fit on a 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500
  • Yes, the K-Source Custom Extendable Towing Mirrors With Turn Signals, # KS62093-94G, will fit on your 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500. These mirrors will replace the OEM mirrors on your truck and plug directly into the existing wiring. Keep in mind that you will not be able to use the power, heated face or turn signal features if your truck is not already equipped with those functions. Installation should be pretty easy as this mirror uses the exact same installation foot print as your...

  • Towing Mirror Recommendation for 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ
  • We have the K-Source towing mirrors part # KS62093-94G which are a confirmed fit for your 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500. They do not power in/out or power telescope but can manually do that. Aside from that they do have power adjustment, LED turn signals, and heat though. I attached an install video as well.

  • Adding K-Source Custom Towing Mirror, Part # KS62093G, to 2012 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab
  • It is necessary that your vehicle OEM mirrors already have these same functions (power adjustment, heat and turn signals) in order to have them work with the K-Source mirrors. The K-Source mirrors connect using the vehicle OEM wiring harness (please see included photo of the mirror connector). This wiring has to already have the capability of delivering the required 12V power and turn signals. These functions will not work unless the OEM mirrors have these same functions already, or unless...

  • Will the K-Source Custom Extendable Towing Mirrors Replace OEM Mirrors on a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado
  • The K-Source Custom Extendable Towing Mirrors, item # KS62093-94G, will replace your OEM mirrors and are adjusted electrically but do not extend electrically. These are the only electric replacement mirrors we have available at this time. These mirrors are also heated as long as your OEM mirrors have heated mirrors. All of the mirrors we carry are manually extended, the electric function is limited to the electric functions your vehicle is equipped with from the factory.

  • Disabling Factory Mirror Memory Setting on 2008 GMC Sierra Denali for K-Source Tow Mirrors
  • To disable the memory settings when using the K-Source replacement towing mirrors # KS62093-94G you will want to turn off the Curb Assist feature on your 2008 GMC Sierra. After you have turned of the curb assist the mirrors should not self adjust when you start the truck.

  • Can I Upgrade to Power Towing Mirrors if I Have Manual Mirrors
  • In some cases, vehicle manufactures pre-wire the additional mirror functions to a connector inside the door. If you can locate this connector and test each of the functions to see which are equipped, you can then determine if the K-Source Custom Extendable Towing Mirrors w/ Turn Signals part # KS62093-94G will work for you. If you do not have the turn signal and heated/power mirror wires ran into the connector on your door, you will need to use the the K-Source Custom Extendable Towing...

  • Replacement Towing Mirror Recommendation for a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Duramax
  • I have a solution for you, but the part # KS62093-94G is for newer models of the Silverado so I can't recommend them for your 2001 Chevy Silverado. Instead I would recommend the # KS62073-74G as they are similar and will fit your vehicle. These mirrors will fit the mirror base on your truck and would work well.

  • Replacement Towing Mirror Recommendation for 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 with Heat and Turn Signals
  • We offer replacement towing mirrors for your 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 that are power, heated and have turn signals incorporated in them, part # KS62135-36G. However, if your truck does not have those features already this kit would not come with everything needed to allow that to happen. A GM dealer would most likely be who you would need to contact about seeing if the harness needed is available.

  • Replacement Straps and Clips for CIPA Universal Towing Mirror on a 2002 GMC Sierra
  • So if I understand correctly, the CIPA mirrors that you bought have straps that are not long enough to fit the mirrors on your 2002 GMC Sierra. It sounds like you have universal towing mirror # 11953. If so, they are supposed to fit on most 7 to 10 inch tall mirrors. But what can affect the fit is if the mirror housing is large front to back. That would limit the size mirror the towing mirrors will fit. The replacement strap for the above towing mirror is # 11952STRAP. It will include...

  • Towing Mirror Recommendation for 2013 Chevy Silverado with Just Power Adjust
  • Best option we have for full towing mirror replacements for your 2013 Chevy Silverado is the K-Source Mirror Set part # KS62093-94G. These have more functions than you'll need but they just simply won't be active. The power adjust will still work though. I attached an install video for these mirrors for you to check out as well.

  • Can Turn Signals be Added to Vehicle Mirror with Aftermarket Tow Mirrors on Vehicle Without Them
  • What we have found is that if you can retain functions you currently have on a truck when installing aftermarket tow mirrors but you can't add any additional ones that aren't already there. If you contacted a Chevy dealer you might be able to have them add the wiring harness that allows the other functions to activate but that might end up costing you more than you'd like.
