I purchased the Inno Rack system and Rhino Rack 581 saddles for my 2007 Mercury Montego. The instructions were easy to follow, and the rack is rock solid. It makes loading and unloading my kayak a breeze. I previously used roof pads and that was ridiculous compared to what this rack does for me now. I am amazed with how quiet with and without the kayak attached is - I don’t hear anything except the very slightest amount of wind with the windows open on the highway. I always have put a one turn twist in the bow and stern straps, but for the rest they’re all straight. I added an extra strap on the rear crossbar that goes behind the rear combing of my cockpit for extra security- but that’s just me. I’ve included a photo to show my setup. Thank you so much Mark S, Becky B, Carol C, and George J. etrailer rocks.

I’ve used my Inno rack and Rhino 581 kayak saddles a total of 25 times last year. Most of my driving with my 14’ kayak has been done on local routes, with a few interstate highways 70mph as well. Everything has gone smoothly on every kayak outing. I was happy to find this rack being that I have an sedan without roof rails. It is a quality product and the T track crossbars look and perform excellent. I installed everything according to specifications. My sedan has a rounded roof so the crossbar spacing 27.5625” might seem a little close for a kayak with a long cockpit 35”. I can still put the rear crossbar strap behind the cockpit, and I put another strap straight over the cockpit coaming for a bit more security on the rear crossbar being careful not to tighten that strap too much, as not to damage the coaming. It’s early April in New England and I’m preparing for another kayaking season using my roof rack!
