Its colder and quieter. The wiring was plug n play. On my setup, I did NOT need the Furrion thermostat. My Coleman works fine. As for the 3 stars, be very careful when handling this unit. The plastic shell is thin. Im affraid a small limb would easliy break it. This thin shell is critical in the unit performace. If its warped, even a litle bit, the styrofoam housing will stop the motors from turning and cause an over amp or noise issue. You will need to remove the Coleman control box from inside the old unit and transfer it to the new Furrion. Unfortunatly, the Furrion doesnt have a provision to mount this box...so good luck. I just built a small cradle for it to sit in.
I personally think the Coleman is built more robust.
Dropped my temp a good 10 Degrees in my trailer. Very quiet and efficient. Much better than the Coleman I replaced!
Michael S - 08/19/2022I returned the unit when I discovered it would not mount on the roof of my Phaeton motorhome, despite assurances of the company at the time of ordering that it was appropriate for my application. Only after I complained did the company agree that it would not fit and allowed me to return it.
I had problems similar to other reviewers when I received the air conditioner. 3 of the connectors on the top cover were broken, and the capacitor box was loose (see photos). The capacitor box is mounted by screws into the soft plastic of the lower cover. These stripped out, as well as one of 2 screws at the front of the unit for attaching the top cover to the lower cover. While I believe this could have been addressed by better packaging for shipping (factory issue, not an etrailer problem), the mounting screws used in the soft plastic are weak points in the design, and I don't believe they would last on an RV in any case. I was able to install latches and blind nuts to overcome these issues, and proceed with the install on my 5th wheel to replace a Dometic Brisk Air 2. I retained the Dometic control board and air distribution box, as I did not want to change the thermostat which uses a Dometic digital 3 wire connection. The conversion kit is needed in this case, as the bolt mounting holes are offset on the Furrion unit compared to the original Dometic. Once installed, the unit worked well. The Furrion unit is quieter than the Dometic, and I was very happy with the airflow and impressively cold air. Some reviewers have commented on freezing issues, and I can confirm the unit will freeze up relatively easily. The 'Auto' fan setting on the Dometic controller, while using only the ceiling ducts and not the air dump on the distribution box, is where I observed freezing. No problem when the fan was in the 'High' mode, but when the controller switched to the 'Low' speed as the temperature neared the setpoint, the unit froze up. The original Dometic freeze sensor and control board worked as expected; the compressor switched off, the fan returned to high, the ice melted, and the compressor came back on, with the fan back to the 'Low' setting, and the unit began to freeze up again. This showed every indication of continuing forever, so I changed back to the 'High' fan setting. The compressor then cycled normally without freezing to maintain the set temperature. My recommendation is to keep the fan on 'High'. My unit does not have a start capacitor, contrary to one of the Q&A responses on etrailer. I recommend adding a start capacitor if intended for operation with a generator. Only time will tell if the unit lasts longer than the Dometic, but since I have had 2 Dometic units each fail due to refrigerant leaks in <2 years, I had to try something different. etrailer shipped the unit promptly, and was very helpful and supportive with the issues noted. I will definitely buy from etrailer again.
After a quick delivery from etrailer, I was able to install the Furrion AC the same day.
I was able to get the unit to the top of the RV with my tractor front end loader. The electrical connector on the Coleman AC made the installation easy.
One thing to make it easier, when removing the plastic cover from the inside, reattach the screws to the metal insert so that it stays aligned. A good screw gun makes the installation much quicker. I waited awhile before turning on the compressor so that the oil had a chance to settle down after the shipping and installation movement.
The AC is now nice and cold in the RV. My wife and I are very pleased.
it is a cheep unit but works it took some tweeking to get it to run quiet . on the good side it does blow very cold air this is a good budget unit ( not for full time use)

Well after waiting almost 3 weeks to receive the product i made an appointment with a dealer to have it installed only to find out according to them that none of the adapter harness or blocks or bolts came with the unit...the box itself looked like it had been through ww3..so now i have to buy the ceiling unit also even though i was assured it would work on my unit...so almost 1000 dollars only to find out it doesnt work and now i have to buy the ceiling unit and wait another 2 weeks for them to ship it even though it says in stock...at this rate i will not need the ac till next summer

I would not have bought it if I knew it was made in china I'm writing in the hopes of updating my original critique of your company. I still do not like that I bought an air conditioner from China. However, the customer service you provided in your case was second to none and very impressive. As your customer I greatly appreciate it and would recommend your company to my friends. Four stars.
The first thing I noticed is that there are no signs or writing on the box saying fragile or handle with car. Box has several dents on it, then when i opened the a/c unit several brqxketa are broken and wire box is not attached to unit.
The delivery time was good, but when I saw the package with unit, there are rips on the sides, haven’t opened yet, it just looks like it hasn’t been handled very well, but I will see how it looks when I open it up.
Super fast delivery. Easy to install. Cools very nice. I would definitely recommend and buy again.
Installed easy. So far the only problem is the cover. The plastic is very thin and weak. 3 of the screw tabs broke off during install, yes I tried to be careful. Also the control box was not screwed down, easy fix. I tested it today, cooled well. So far so good. Time will tell .
when I open the packaging the cover is broke.

The Furrion 15,500 BTU AC works like a dream!! Cools my 38' 5th wheel very well in 80° It is impressively quiet and with the 3 fan modes, you can sleep like a baby. I installed it myself converting it from an old Dometic Duo Therm. I had to replace the air distribution box and thermostat.
The only reason it got four stars is because the cover came busted and a junction box had come loose and wedged into the fan blades. The cover was cracked and held on by only 3 screws since the rest of the tabs were broken. It is made in China so I'm sure it's not etrailer's fault. And the junction box ( provided picture of the unit) in the main roof unit came loose from it's four screws and wedged itself against the fan blade. It kept the blade from spinning and the sound coming from the unit sounded like a giant refrigerator the size of a tractor trail parked right out side the RV. Extremely loud!! After climbing up there and removing the cover I noticed and fixed the issue. Fortunalty it didn't damage my unit.
etrailer did send me a new cover at no cost as soon as they had it back in stock. All in all, I would def recommend, just watch out for loose or broken parts. And notify etrailer as soon as possible. They will go the extra mile to help you fix any issues.

The cover was busted up pretty bad. I installed the unit anyway and etrailer was out of replacement covers but offered to send a whole new unit. Once installed the unit had so much vibration in it and was so loud it made the whole rv shake. I returned it with minimum issues. Make sure you keep your box. It cost me 35 dollars for a box. I will say if the unit hadn't had the vibration issue I would have kept it. The air it supplied was hard and very cold. It blew much faster and colder than the 15000 btu advent that replaced it.
