Video Transcript for Fastway Weight Distribution FA92-02-4315 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Fastway E2 weight distribution shank. This is designed for use with Fastway E-2 weight distribution systems. It can be used in either the drop or rise positions. It's constructed of a really nice sturdy, dependable steel construction. It's a nice solid design with a nice powder coated finish on it to protect it from rust and corrosion. Now the portion that slides onto the receiver tube of your hitch it's going to be this portion right here.

It's got a pin hole on there, located on each side so that way you can secure it inside the hitch with a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock. The hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock are sold separately so if you're need of something like that, you can find them right here, etrailer.com. The pin holes on this unit will accept a standard 5/8th inch diameter pin. The product's made right here in the USA. It's designed for a 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. It's going to offer a gross towing weight capacity of 12,000 pounds with a maximum tongue weight capacity of 1200 pounds.

When you're using this with a round bar system and if you have your head assembly at the highest setting, it's going to give you a maximum rise of 12 inches. If you have it at the lowest setting, then the drop position, it's going to give you a maximum drop of 8-1/2 inches. When you're using it with a Tranium 00:01:17 bar system, maximum rise is 12-1/2 inches, maximum drop is 6-1/2 inches. Now those measurements are taken from the inside top edge of the receiver tube of your hitch to the top of the ball platform on the head assembly. This unit is going to feature 6 adjustment holes. You can see those right there.

The distance between each adjustment hole center on center is going to be 1-1/4 inch. That's your increment or height adjustment. Taking a look at the overall length measurement, measuring front to back, it's going to measure 12 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the adjustment holes, that's going to measure right on 8 inches, to the front of the bar is 9, to the back of the bar is 7 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the braise right here, that's going to be about 4 inches and then to the base of the weld for that support, this point right here, it's about 3-1/2 inches. Again, that's from the center of the hitch pin hole.

That's going to do it for today's look at the Fastway E2 weight distribution shank.

What can I say about a shank, works as designed. I have a Nash 25C trailer which sits pretty high when connecting to my stock Tundra. This shank coupled with the Fastway e2 weight distribution hitch worked like a champ and now my trailer is level with no sway. 605488

Just what I needed to get my weight distribution hitch back down on my new Ram 2500 four wheel drive. Needed about 5 more inches of drop, this is perfect! Cost was less than half what the big box Camping store wanted for about the same size . Ordered on Saturday and it was on my porch by Tuesday !!! Expect this to have great match to my E2 hitch , no picture right now , camper is put away for season. Thanks again , great to deal with your company 585650

  • Recommended Drop Shank For Fastway E2 Weight Distribution System For 2-3 Inches Additional Drop
  • For your extra drop needed with your Fastway E2 weight distribution system, I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Shank - 12" Long - 9-1/2" Rise, 4" Drop - 1,200 lbs TW # FA92-02-4214 this will give you a little under 2-1/2 inches of additional drop from your standard shank. If you need more, I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Shank - 12" Long - 12-1/2" Rise 6-1/2" Drop - 1.2K TW # FA92-02-4315 which will give you the additional drop you need.

  • Weight Distribution Drop Shank Recommendation for Trailer being Towed by Taller Truck
  • You definitely need a shank with more drop than what you currently have. Most likely the part # FA92-02-4315 would give you the amount drop you'd need as it has ability to provide up to 7 inches of drop but you'd want to first determine the amount of drop you'd need. I attached an FAQ that details how to pick out the correct drop. Picking out the correct ball mount will allow your trailer to sit as level as possible. Basically you will first measure the height from the ground to the...

  • Can Weight Distribution System be Used on a Truck with a Lift Kit
  • Lifted trucks can use weight distribution systems like the Reese Steadi-Flex kit part # RP66560 that you referenced but more often than not a drop shank is needed to provide the additional drop needed. For example we have the Fastway e2 shank part # FA92-02-4315 which can provide a drop of up to 7 inches. This also can be used with the Steadi Flex system you listed. To determine the amount of drop you'll need will require you to measure from the top of your hitch opening down to the...

For a Fasway system, I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 12" Long - 10" Rise,...

This head is the exact same as the ones that come in the full kits. You would have to use a Fastway head in order to use the Fastway spring bars. Another brand head will not work. You will also need replacement hardware kit # FA92-02-9600 since the above heads do not include this hardware. For a second shank...

  • Fastway Weight Distribution for a V-Nose Trailer with Limited Space on Frame
  • With a trailer weighing 3,820 pounds the tongue weight will be in the neighborhood of 380 to 573 pounds which is 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight. But to that you also need to add in the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. So for example if you had 100 pounds of gear behind the tow vehicle rear axle that would make the tongue weight 480 to 673 pounds. The minimum tongue weight for the Fastway system, # FA94-00-1033, to be effective is 400 pounds....
