Install was relatively easy. Clearance (minor scrapping) is an issue at times driving off of inclines. Probably wouldn't be an issue if the Honda Odysseys of this generation didn't have such a sag in the rear.
Sierra K - 07/01/2022Directions and videos were spot on with what had to be removed. Installation was very easy and straight forward. I installed the hitch alone in my driveway in maybe 15min. Looks great, looks well put together and sturdy, only negative comment I have about it all is the bolt holes on the hitch are slotted (which I assume would be to give you some play as far as lining it up on the vehicle) but the hitch fits fairly tightly on the outer edge of the slots so there is no room left to center the hitch. It is where it is! Overall not a big deal by any means!
I am pleased with the receiver and the transaction. I installed on 2023 Odyssey by myself in about an hour. The video instructions were mostly in line with what I experienced. I had to make a small modification to the driver side splash guard to accommodate the receiver. This required me to cut about 1/4" slot out of the splash guard in order for the plastic rivets to line up. I used a utility knife to make the cut. Overall it is a pretty straightforward install. I do not plan to tow with this but rather attach cargo racks, bike racks, etc. I am pleased with the product and shipping time was very quick given the size/weight of the box. Thank you!!
I continue to come back to this company when needing a trailer hitch for a vehicle. They always deliver the product in a timely manner, their videos are super helpful, and the product is exactly as described. This product was super easy to install and is of good quality. Highly recommend.
Once we figured out what we were doing by watching videos, it was fairly easy. On the 2021 Honda Odyssey Elite specifically, you have to remove the underside panel by the push buttons and it’s also connected to the wheel well with a screw. As for the opposite side, taking the exhaust off would make it a lot easier to get those bolts on. We have not used it yet with the cargo carrier but we will soon. It also arrived a little scratched up but I’m sure that happens during the shipping.
Jenny N - 01/10/2022Install was on a 2021 Honda Odyssey. Very easy to install. if you have ramps to back up on to lift the back end up, or, in my case I have a steep driveway, provides enough clearance for me to get under lol. Took about an hour, with a little help. Common tools, patience, good to go. The one great thing included in the kit you can't live without is a simple wire bolt holder to help feed the bolts through the frame where you cant reach. Simple but brilliant. Great price, all the tools you need. Why pay a dealer to charge you $500 when its easy to do yourself.
This is an excellent hitch. All items were included and worked perfectly. The installation video did not include the passenger side installation. It wasn’t made known to us that the exhaust was right over top the bolts we needed to install. I feel it should be made known the exhaust will need to be slightly moved to install this.
Product arrived within 4 days after ordering late Friday afternoon during Quarantine season. Packaged well and no damage to the paint was found on the hitch. I installed the receiver hitch on my 2019 Honda Odyssey with my 14 year old son without issues. I bought the hitch specifically to put on a 2 bike rack. The etrailer video installation instructions available on onlinefor this exact hitch for the 2019 Odyssey is extremely helpful and spot on. Very happy overall with the experience and product.
Regan - 05/22/2021Hitch installed smoothly on our 2019 Odyssey. No trim cutting was necessary and the hardware provide by eTrailer really worked well. We purchased this receiver after considering a more "hidden" model but I was concerned about the clearance for our folding Allen bike rack and decided to choose this one. It works great with our bike rack and looks fine installed. Overall a great experience with eTrailer's site, service, delivery time and support. The videos are a big help, keep up the good work!
This hitch is of excellent quality, it fit perfectly on our 2019 Honda Odyssey, and it looks very nice on the car. Through the years I've installed many trailer hitches on various vehicles, and this was by far one of the easier installations. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. Everything we needed was provided with the hitch. We didn't even need to jack up the car, there was plenty of room to work. We chose not to unfasten the exhaust pipe at the rear of the car as was recommended; we just worked around it and tightened the bolts on that side with a wrench rather than with a socket. The installation took a little longer than the 30 minutes they said it would; but I like to take my time as I work to be sure I'm getting everything right. I highly recommend this hitch.
Wes - 05/28/2022Everything was easy to use. The only issue I had was the plate for the lag bolts wasn’t wide enough and the bolt was free spinning. I was able to use a pair of vise grips and open ended wrench to tighten it down. Other than that great prosuct.
Great work explaining the differences between the trail hitches to help me make my decision and feel good about it.
BeOutdoors - 07/20/2022I’ve had this hitch installed for a year now and it has lived up to its great reputation. Was easy to install with a great install video provided
Overall, perfect hitch. Installed onto a 2020 Honda Odyssey. Looks amazing and flush. For those installing in same vehicle take note that the exhaust was blocking access to the bolts and required that I remove the hanger from the rubber brace. In addition to this, I still did not have full access and so had to lift the car, removing the center exhaust hanger by about 75% (did completely remove). This then allowed me to
move the exhaust with ease and with no tension to the rest of exhaust line and gain full clearance to tighten down the bolts. Don’t forget that you will need a torque wrench as there are two different torque settings for the bolts.
With all that said, I will say that they can do much better with packaging. The hitch arrived in a box with no padding whatsoever and one end had torn the end of the box to pieces leaving some visible damage on the hitch itself. It’s simply too heavy to not have each end properly wrapped and protected.

Peter - 10/12/2021I'm glad that I came across the etrailer website and purchased the trailer hitch for my Honday Odyssey 2019. The hitch is attached to the car snuggly and looks neat on the car. It looks very sturdy but weighs only 36 lbs. A couple of notes for future buyers:
* As mentioned by some other reviews, it does seem to be the case that the sensor for the hands-free trunk opening (i.e., by swinging your leg underneath the back of the car) is blocked by this hitch. I personally don't use that feature a lot so I'm not bothered by this.
* Although I see myself as a pretty hands-on person, the installation is clearly beyond me. I cannot even take down the panel due to the extremely tight hex screw on the car. I also cannot imagine myself lifting up this hitch and fit it to the car while lying down on the ground, with just < 1 foot of clearance. I had it installed in a car body shop with a reasonable price.
This has served us well over several long trips with our Honda Odyssey. We use this primarily with a hitch mounted platform used to hold several hundred pounds of contents.
My whole experience was great. Ordering was easy. Shipping went faster than what the site said was the approx. ship time. The product itself felt very quality made. I like the extra carriage bolt they provide for added security. I also like that the receiver has spots for chain hook up. I didn't think it did for some reason so that was a pleasant surprise. SO thankful for the numerous photos and video of install. Seriously, that goes a long way. I would definitely recommend doing this with a buddy. I was able to install by myself, but not without some daredevil antics that my wife shook her head at.
Exactly what we needed for our Honda Odyssey. Watched video for install and made it fast and efficient knowing exactly what and where to cut. Hitch is often used for bike racks and towing small trailers. Was able to tow a 2000lb sailboat 300 miles with no issues.
This will work well for what we wanted, though we had a few hiccups on the way. The way that it is designed and the directions do not account for the tailpipe of our van being right in the way. One of the biggest issues we had is that one of the screws we received was not threaded correctly, and when we tried to screw it into our van, it cross-threaded, which resulted in us having to buy a tool to fix the threading in the van and buy a new screw for it. Overall, we are satisfied, but it could definitely have been better.
One year later we haven't had any issues. Easy install. Order and delivery were smooth and efficient. We've exclusively used it for bike carrier attachment. I highly recommend it.
Does the job - my mechanic installed it. Sits just under the lower bumper on the back of our Honda Odyssey.
