Video Transcript for Review of Deka 3/8 Ring Terminal - DW05705-1

Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a very quick look at this Deka ring terminal. This ring terminal is going to allow you to easily connect your wires to a stud, so like on a battery or something like that where you need a nice solid connection. This does allow you to crimp the vinyl installation down onto your exposed wire. This is going to have an internal diameter right about 3/8 of an inch. So it's going to be good for your 3/8 inch diameter studs, will fit right up in there.

This is going to work for your 12 and 10 gauge wires, will fit right in there, allow you to crimp down on them and give you that nice secure connection to attach to your stud. That's going to complete our look at the Deka ring terminal. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com, thanks for watching.

  • Connecting Electric Trailer Jack Directly to 12V Battery
To hook up a trailer jack to a 12 volt battery you need to make the connection from the jack's power wire to the positve post on the battery using a ring terminal, like part # DW05705-1. If you don't already have a battery on the trailer you can add one. You'll need to power it by connecting it to the trailer connector's 12 volt power circuit. You can use part # e99011 if you need to add a 7-way on the trailer. You'll also need a 7-way connector on the tow vehicle, which I can help...

  • Wiring a Stand Alone Battery for Portable Power Supply for a Horse Trailer With 6 or 7-Way Connector
I think I can help you out here, but you would need to build the adapter as you have suggested. I do not know of a power supply connector assembly for a stand-alone battery at this time. I would start with an appropriate length of 10 gauge double bonded wire, # 10-2-1, to go from the 7-way or 6-way trailer connector to the area where the battery will be stored. Do not store the battery inside the horse trailer or directly on the ground. Next, wire a vehicle end connector that is compatible...

  • How To Ground Trailer Tail Lights Without a Ground Wire To a Wooden Surface
The Standard Trailer Light Kit with 25' Wire Harness part # TL29BK as I am sure you noticed grounds via the mounting hardware therefore there is not a singular ground wire. In order to attach this light to a wooden surface you will need to run a ground wire yourself up to the trailer tongue using the mounting studs on the back with ring terminals part # DW05705-1 and wire part # 12-1-1. The other option you have is to use the Peterson LED Light Kit for Trailers part # V944 which does...

  • Do I Need To Use the Signal Booster with a 21' Class B Van?
The manufacturer directs that the signal booster be used with all installs. With your short van the monitor would probably not initially have any problems receiving the signal due to distance. However, the booster ensures a very strong signal that will not be affected by other radio interference such as cell phone boosters, and passing motorists. I would install the booster. The connection to your house battery is very simple. I am sure that you will be able to handle it. If it were...

  • How to Access +12V Power Circuit in 7-Way Wiring to Power Fuel Pump
7-way trailer wiring includes a +12V auxiliary power circuit that can be used for a range of purposes from powering an electric jack to topping off a trailer-mounted battery. This circuit is handled by the contact at the 1:00 position as you look at the vehicle's trailer socket. The ground is at the opposite pin, the one at the 7:00 position. Please refer to the linked photo. For an easy way to access this power circuit to operate your fuel pump you could wire in a 7-way plug like #...

  • Adding LED Lights Running off Battery and Switch in Enclosed Trailers
Are you looking for internal or external lights? We can help you with both. For internal lights a good option is part # ILL22CHB because of how bright it is. It's an 830 lumens light which is brighter than most for sure. It's a 2 wire install so connecting it to the switch won't be an issue. If you want them outside the trailer take a look at part # MT70882. These are designed as off-road lights for a truck or Jeep so you know they can handle the elements. They're also quite bright at...

  • How to Tell if 12v Circuit on 7-Way is Active on 2019 Volkswagen Atlas
Your 7 Pin connector should be active, especially if it was factory installed. You can test the connector with a circuit tester like our # PTW2992 when the vehicle is on. Then shut it off and test again to see if your connector is still drawing power with the engine off. If it is not active there is either a blown or missing fuse (check your owner's manual for location), or it possibly did not come active from the factory. In which case you can run a wire from the battery to the 7-way...

We have a complete vent installation kit # 344270KITW that includes hardware, butyl rubber tape and tubes of sealant to make your new vent installation secure and watertight. You will need to make an opening in your trailer roof that is just slightly larger than the vent; a 14-1/4 x 14-1/4 opening is ideal. It will...

The red and black leads are for the camera's power and ground. The module also includes extended leads for power and ground. I have labeled the picture you attached accordingly. • Adding Interior and Exterior Work Lights to Livestock Trailer
Considering how you'll likely be using this, if you don't already have an auxilliary battery on your trailer, you'll need to add one. You'll want a 12v battery, which can be sourced from a number of different places, but I recommend something that can at least handle around 50 amp hours. This eliminates the chance that you run your vehicle battery down and get stranded somewhere, in addition to straining that battery and creating the need for replacing it much sooner than you normally would...

  • How to Make a Secure 12 Volt and Ground Connection for Trailer Wiring On a 2007 GMC Sierra
I agree that it sounds as if you have a ground issue. I would start by pulling apart the connector again and making sure the ground pin is not bent. Sometimes this can cause the problem. The next place to look is under the hood at the power distribution block. The power wire is connected to a ground stud at the front of the power distribution block, see link. Make sure the wire is tight and that the fuse for the stud is properly inserted and good. There are many ground wires and straps...

  • How to Extend Short Ground Wire on 4-Pole Wishbone Harness
Wishbone 4-pole harnesses like # A35W42B, # A20WB, # W002230 and # A10-4225VP usually do have a short ground wire because most trailer frames are steel and they conduct well enough that a ground wire attached near the tongue will provide sufficient ground even for lights mounted all the way at the back of the trailer. On the other hand if you have an aluminum frame trailer that does NOT conduct electricity nearly as well as a steel frame then you might need to extend that 2- or 3-foot...

We have a video detailing how to install this type of harness for you to review, see link. Otherwise your trailer battery could drain the battery in the tow vehicle. The wire that runs to the battery will connect to the gold post, and the line that connects to the junction box will connect to the silver post. Usually, 10 gauge wire is used for the 12V power. • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring on 2015 Honda Pilot

I recommend starting with the relays and the best way to determine if one is bad is to replace it with one you know works. Once you have determined the relays are good, then I recommend checking the plug connections on your harness. Each connection should be clean of corrosion and debris and have dielectric grease like # 11755 to keep moisture and debris out. Then if you are still lacking...

If the trailer side connector pin that corresponds with the 12 volt circuit is connected to the battery on the trailer, then you will not have to change or add anything.
