Ellen: Hey everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a quick look at the Clearance Light Kit. This is going to give you five lights to go on the top of your vehicle to add a nice aesthetic to it and also help other drivers to see your vehicle, especially in inclement weather fog or anything like that. So it's going to come with everything you see laid out here on the table, let's take a closer look and make sure that this is going to be the right fit for you and talk about how the install is going to work. So you'll have your five lights, the way to get access into those lights is by this top screw here, it's just a Phillips head screw. The thing that I like about this kit, or these lights in general is that on the bottom they already have a pre-attached foam gasket, which is going to protect the mounting hardware or the mounting surface from any water getting in there, but also on the underside of this housing, there's also going to be another gasket there. So that helps to protect that inside with the bulb from any ingress of water as well.
The only spot where water could get in is going to be that spot at the top where that screw goes in. And it's up to you if you want to try to fix that by maybe putting a little dab of sealant or something in there whenever you get everything mounted in place but that's just one thing I noticed. I always think about that with lights of how is it going to protect against ingress of water or debris. So the bulb on the inside is an incandescent bulb and it is a 168 style bulb. So if you wanted to, you could replace those with LED bulbs.
They do make LEDs in that same style, which again, if it we're me, I probably would also do, just to make sure that you never have to get in there and change out that bulb. Although, as you can see, getting into the housing is really not all that difficult once they're installed it doesn't matter either. It's just a matter of taking that one screw out, popping the cover off and then taking that light out. So not too big of a deal. I'm going to show you what it looks like whenever it's illuminated. So you can get an idea of how bright it is.
So we just have the one wire to worry about it's going to be our power wire and then the ground will be created by this ring that our hardware goes through. So I'm just going to stick my ground connection in there, turn on my power. You can see that light comes on, give you a better idea of what it looks like in the dark. So nothing that's going to be super bright, but you don't really want it to be terribly bright, you don't want to blind anybody with these lights, they're just there as a clearance light indicator for other folks on the road. And as far as what else comes in the kit, you do get a fuse.So this is the barrel style fuse to go in between the power wire and your positive terminal on the battery or your positive side of the power connection.
It comes with almost 10 feet of red wire for that positive side of your connection, it's about 9 feet 10 inches when I measured it out, and then you get 10 inches of ground wire and that's going to be for the switch itself. So it also comes with a switch, which allows you to wire this separate of your vehicle's lights, so you don't have to worry about cutting or splicing into your vehicle's wiring, you can just have its own dedicated switch to turn those on and off. If you wanted to, you could go through and connect it to your running light circuit or something like that, it'd be a little bit more involved of an install, but that is an option it's up to you and then you wouldn't really need this. But if you do decide to use this, that switch, the red part will light up whenever it's turned on to give you that visual cue that the lights are on.It also comes with five quick splice connectors to make your connections to the lights and the wiring, the screws to mount those in place and then two more screws to mount our switch. Something that I would maybe do, it depends on how you're getting into these. These quick splicer connections can be really good for any tight space where you don't have a lot of room to work. You just want to be careful with those, that you make sure that you get a really good crimp, because basically it's just going in and pressing on that little blade to make your connections, you'll put the two wires that you're connecting together, crimp that blade down and then close this little door over it. So I've seen these fail sometimes, they're easy to mess up, so that's just one thing. They make me a little bit nervous because I don't want to have to get in there and redo my wiring if I don't have to but just be careful with those. If you want, you could switch them out for just regular butt connectors but even with those, you want to be careful to make sure you get a really good crimp on the wire, so you're not having to mess with any of that wiring later. Let's take a couple measurements just so you can get a feel for how big these are. So length wise, looking at about five and a half inches long by about two and a quarter, they stand about an inch and three quarters tall at the very tallest point, they do have a bit of a curve to them to go along with the contour of your roof, so that's nice that they have that contour already built in. So two and a quarter, five and a half, one and three quarter. We've got our two mounting holes there. The distance between those two center to center roughly is about three inches and that's really about all there is to it for our look at this kit. I will give you one last measurement of the switch. It's about one and three eighth inches long by about one and three quarter inches tall and about five eighth of an inch deep. This has an offset to it as well to match up and angle it out from your dash. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right kit for you. Our customers really like this kit, it really adds a lot to your vehicle's look overall and should be pretty straightforward to get installed. Thanks for watching.

Make your truck, van or trailer more visible to oncoming traffic and enhance its appeal using this clearance light kit from Optronics. Kit includes 5 clearance lights, a wiring harness, hardware and a power switch. The teardrop and rectangular lights are both exact drop-in replacements for ones' made in 1995! Price was right and delivery was quick. Could not ask for more! Picture shows before and after of a few
Great product exactly as described, good price.
I have shopped with etrailer for years
These lights worked very well as a replacement for my old, UV damaged, cracked and weathered marker lights. The only problem I ran into was that the actual bulb in these lights was not the one listed in the description (#67), but that was understandable once I received them, it was also incorrect on the actual packaging. This was only a problem for me because I had ordered LED bulbs to put in these the same day as I placed my order from etrailer. I believe the bulbs in these have a wedge style base.
I used these on the front and rear of the vehicle, because I couldn't find a similar product with red lenses for the rear, however I put red colored LED bulbs in them and at night you would never know the lens is amber.
These match the OEM Ford running lights perfectly. All I had to do was solder on the plugs from my old ones and bolt them on.
Perfect for my needs!
Great customer service from start to finish, excellent product!
Very happy with the roof light kit I received. Came by UPS in a timely manner. Wasn't to difficult to install. I would order again.
They are great except they were a little smaller than the original ones on motor home. Still worked just made cleanup more extensive.
I like the lights a lot however one of them has an issue with the foam gasket curling up so if you look at the lights from the front one is very dim or not on at all. Other than that there are well worth the money and we’re easy to install.
These lights are 'almost' the same shape and size as the OEM lights installed on our motorhome. But after applying caulking around the base, lens, and screw it made no difference at all. Recommended for replacing those old UV damaged lights.
I ordered the CB-15AK to replace clearance lights on my motorhome. They appear to be almost identical to the original lights installed at the factory. However, one item to keep in mind is the lights come equipped with only a positive wire and ground through the mounting hardware. This is OK for installation on a metal roof but if mounting on a fiberglass roof you will need to run a ground wire for each of the lights.
Worked as intended. Keeps the original look on a 03 American Dream.
I installed these lights on our motor home today. I would rate these lights as far superior to the original Fleetwood lights. The gaskets are much better than the latex type original gaskets. I suspect both products are made by the same manufacturer. The dimensions, attach points, and bulb type are identical. I did have to solder a ground wiire to the bulb socket since my motor home is fiberglass. Not a big deal though. As an added precaution to prevent leakage I sealed everything with clear silicone caulk.
Very nice kit for the money
Just what I was looking for! After every RV dealer in town said there was no way to get any, I went to etrailer and found them. I paid for expedited shipping and had them on my desk the next day.
All I needed were the gaskets to seal existing lights on my motorhome; though I did use the new lenses and screws since I had them. Gaskets, lenses and screws fit the existing lamp bases; I have no idea what brand the old bases were.
Look good for the price, but I don't expect to use them until spring.
Product description was accurate & these clearance lights fit my 1989 F250 diesel truck cab. They arrived on time & was a good value. I will use Etrailer again
Great value and will work for replacing the existing on the motor coach
Product was as described and work real well!! They look awesome when lit up! Shipping was super fast and couldn't ask for better customer service!! Will definitely order from etrailer again!! Thanks again!!
Came with everything I needed. Same product as baught in brick and mortar stores. Way lower price. Used to replace orange covers on lights already installed and matched perfectly.
They were a perfect replacement!
FYI, these tear drop lenses match the factory installed clearance lights on the front of my 89 Tioga class-c motorhome. The bulbs are the same, too.
Rather than rip out and re-wire in the new lights, I just replaced the faded lenses and foam gaskets, and swapped the bulbs with the new ones. Job done in 5 minutes.
The lens was not an exact match...
I will be much better off replacing all five top clearance lights. I believe the broken clearance light lense was the source of a small roof leak when it rains really hard.
In Florida it can rain REALLY HARD!
