I installed the trailer hitch by myself, so it took me a couple of hours to install. It fit perfectly, without any issues. The etrailer video helped me out alot during install. I highly recommend this item if you need a trailer hitch for your truck! Mine looks great!

Still working strong with no issues whats so ever! Highly recommended!

2020 Ford F-150

Fit perfectly! Love how it’s very flush with the bumper, looks factory.

by:

I love the hitch but it took some maneuvering and compression to squeeze the unit in order to get it to fit and secure to frame

by:
2015 Ford F-150

supper ez to install it took longer to watch the video then to put it in.
I had to cut out the old hitch which was factory installed took 3hr to do with a sawall do to batt needing to be charged a few times to cut all the welds ford had on it but after that was cool sailing

Ford F-150

I recently became the owner of a new Ford F-150. The truck had everything I wanted except for the installed OEM customer accessory Class III hitch. I wanted a Class IV hitch and a hitch that was recessed under the truck.

The hitch itself arrived perfectly in a well packed box without any damage. The installation is exactly as described in videos online. However, pulling the fish wire through with the bolts was very challenging due to the tolerances. This did require a lot of wiggling and even back pressure to force the bolts through the spacer holes. This was my only challenge other than finding another helper to lift the hitch.

Another possible observation that I haven't heard anywhere else is the clearance for OEM upgraded tires as part of the FX off road package. The spare tire is a bit larger than the stock tire and there are points on the hitch that actually touch the tire. Not sure if that will be a long term issue or not.

I have attached 2 pictures showing the OEM accessory and CURT hitch. These 2 pictures show help demonstrate how much of the hitches are shown at the same angle. Overall, great well built hitch with a solid coating. Highly recommended.

Good fit, Nice finish , fairly concealed. Would purchase again.

by:

Installed without problems by myself in the driveway, used a floor jack to lift in-place.
Fit perfectly. Install is mostly intuitive, but the online install video was helpful. Install time about 50 minutes not including instruction review. Would only take about 25-30 minutes or less if I did it again.

FYI: need a 3/4" drive torque wrench and 15/16 socket to torque bolts to a hefty 210 ft-lbs as required.

by:
2019 Ford F-150

Box was pretty beat up but that is expected as its a odd shape and very heavy. All parts were present. Install was fairly easy but challenging to do alone. Would recommend a strong helper to install. Also torqueing those bolts to 210lbs is not easy on your back under the truck. One Important note, when threading the bolts onto the pull wires be sure to get one strand of wire in each thread as the clearances are pretty tight and if you double them up they do not easily slide through the spacer blocks.

2017 Ford F-150

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver was everything as advertised. The look is perfect on the truck. Working with etrailer made the whole process simple, from researching what I needed for my truck, to ordering, to receiving VERY quickly. The installation video on their site was exactly how to do it properly. It could not have been done any better. I will certainly go to etrailer for any of my future truck needs.

by:

Just as advertised. Arrived ahead of schedule. Installation was straight forward. Threading fasteners through mounting holes using supplied fish wires was easier than it looked.

by:
Ford F-150

etrailer has been my go to source now for two F150 trucks I own. Installation on this product for my 2106 Ford F-150 was pretty simple. Two people and a jack make the install much easier. The kit is complete with the hardware and fish wire for the carriage bolts and spacers. Be patient when installing and you'll have the job done in less than an hour. Note: you will need a torque wrench and you must lower the spare tire. Happy install.

by:

Highly recommend this to anyone! It was relatively easy to install (the video attached to the tracking info helped tremendously with that). This hitch is pretty heavy, I managed to install it myself using a jack and a couple jack stands, but it would have been much easier had I offered a buddy a beer to come help me for a few minutes :). Had both the hitch and a wiring harness installed in about 2 hours.

by:

I installed the hitch by myself and it was a very easy and straight forward installation. It was 107 degrees here in Arizona so it took a little over an hour with the breaks I took to cool off before continuing. I would definitely recommend this hitch as it is very sturdy and well made.

by:

Fast shipping from etrailer. Hitch arrived in good condition. All required parts were included. Install took a little over an hour on my 2019 F150. online video from etrailer was a great help.

2017 F150 XLT. The rear spacer plates for inside frame would not fit through access holes on frame. I spent a long time, first, figuring out what the hell the problem was, and then on phone with customer service who couldn't resolve issue. I was then told a tech would call me back "today or tomorrow." Still no call. It's the dead of winter and I was trying to do this outside on a decent day today. So... I had to take the spacers and grind them down on edges to get them to fit through access holes. The spacers are so imprecisely stamped, they would not fit in access hole. A big waste of a few hours of my time.

John, thank you for your review. The installation instructions state you can either use the fish wire to fish the carriage bolts and spacers through the access holes or the end of the frame rail. Depending on the vehicle it is sometimes easier to just go through the end of the frame with the spacers instead of trying to get them through the access holes. If you do not want to go through the frame then you can always use a file to slightly enlarge the access holes to make it easier. We do not recommend modifying the hardware.

Received on time and installation was s traightforward.

This product was a breeze to install and all the included hardware worked flawlessly. Only took about 45 minutes with minimal help just to balance the weight of the hitch while working in my gravel driveway laying on a piece of cardboard.

2017 Ford F-150

Very easy to install, I was able to install by myself laying on the ground.. instructions are easy to follow .. i had a great experience with etrailer.com, fast shipping and great product..will consider doing business with them again.

by:

After watching the installation video 4 times and committing it to memoryuninstall the receiver in about 2 hours by myself my neighbor did raise the jacket for me while I was under the truck I had to do it on the ground Looks great My spare went up perfectly I did need to move my ground wire to a different location Can't wait to put my redneck 2 in 1 deer hide Skinner in it

by:
2015 Ford F-150

Awsome product, simple installation. Only issue I had was the holes in the frame are to small for spacers on the rear of the frame. Ended up slipping the spacers in at the top end of the frame and the carriage bolts through the holes. No modifications necessary.

by:

To my very happy surprise I received the Hitch two days after I placed the order. The box was pretty much torn up but the hitch had no damage. Dianna was very helpful while placing my order and kept me apprised of the steps in my delivery. Because it will be a Christmas gift I will be putting it on the truck Christmas.

by:

Easy to install and fit perfectly

by:

Hitch was super nice. I’m old and bull-headed enough that I was able to get it put in by myself. It’s really a two-person job. Everything that I have ever purchased from etrailer has been as described and has shipped in a timely manner. The only negative I have is that the packaging was beat to pieces when it came off the truck. There was a big hole in the box, too. Luckily all the bolts were taped on the hitch, so nothing was missing. That’s mostly on UPS. Otherwise, you can’t go wrong with etrailer.

Hello. I am very satisfied with this trailer hitch, delivery on time and easy installation.

  • What is the 2017 Ford F-150 Tow Capacity Rating
From my research regardless of how your truck is equipped you should have no problem meeting the 5,000 pound minimum because the lowest rated F-150 from 2017 has a towing capacity of 7,600 pounds. The exact capacity of your F-150 depnds on some other factors like the engine size and whether your truck is 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive. Double check your owner's manual but I'd be very surprised if you're under 5,000 pounds. If your truck isn't already equipped to tow a trailer we have everything...

The Curt # C14017 will fit your 2018 Ford F-150 FX4 as long as you do not have a factory hitch installed. This is a fairly simple installation, we give it a 4 out of 10 for difficulty with a 40 minute install time. No cutting or drilling is required and it uses a simple-bolt on installation. You will have to remove or lower the spare tire temporarily. I have attached an installation video so you can see what the process is like.

To install a 7-Way trailer connector on a 2018 Ford F-150 with a factory 4-Way, you will need to use # 37185. This is part plug and play and part hardwire, but the hardwire locations are easy to access. You will need to ground the white wire to the vehicle frame. The purple wire is for reverse lights if needed. The blue wire is for the trailer brakes and the black wire is for 12 volt power.
