B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitch

B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch

Not only does this kit provide you with a sturdy, custom base for installing your Companion fifth-wheel trailer hitch in the bed of your truck, but it also doubles as one of the most recognizable gooseneck hitches on the market. This fifth wheel installation kit actually is the Turnoverball gooseneck hitch from B&W.

Gooseneck Specs:

  • Gross towing weight: 30,000 lbs
  • Vertical load limit: 7,500 lbs
  • Ball size: 2-5/16"

B&W Companion Installed in Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch

With the B&W Turnoverball underbed gooseneck trailer hitch you get the best of both worlds. When you go to tow a gooseneck trailer, the Turnoverball creates a sturdy, dependable connection with your trailer. And when you're done towing, you can stow the ball upside down in the hitch to get full bed access and a clean appearance. When you're ready to tow your fifth wheel trailer, just install the Companion in the ball hole in place of the gooseneck ball and lock the post in place using the built-in handle. You can remove the fifth wheel when you're done towing, leaving your truck bed open once again.

Simple, Custom Installation

This kit is custom designed for your vehicle. The mounting brackets bolt to existing holes in your truck's frame. While some modification is required - you will need to cut a 4" diameter hole in your bed for the hitch ball and drill holes for the built-in safety chain loops - there is no need to weld onto or to drill into your frame.

Once you have the brackets and center section installed, set up the operating handle. This handle is designed to be accessed from the rear driver's-side wheel well. On the end of the handle is the heavy-duty steel pin that secures the mounting post of the Companion (or the base of the gooseneck hitch ball).

Video Transcript for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Today in our 2010 Ford F-350 Super Duty, we're going to be installing B and W's Custom Under Bed Installation Kit for B and W Companion 5th wheel Trailer Hitches. Part number PWGNRK1108-5W.This 5th Wheel Installation Kit is designed to let you install your B and W companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. The adapters are part numbers BWRVK3500 or part number BWRVK3400.The under bed design of the kit allows for full truck bed access, and when you're ready, it's under five minutes to convert your empty truck bed into a 5th Wheel Hitch. We'll start off by unlocking our B and W hitch and installing our 5th wheel adaptor. We have ours preassembled, but you can adjust the uprights here depending on your truck and trailer combinations. At this point, the hitch is ready to attach to a trailer. There's a little clip here that you release. Basically it's a safety thing.

Then you swing the handle out and you can watch the jaws open, ready to back up onto your trailer.Once you're secure onto your trailer, you can reinstall the clip. And since the 5th Wheel Installation Kit doubles as a gooseneck hitch, when you're not towing your 5th wheel, you can remove it. This frees up the hole to reinsert the hitch ball when you need it.Now we'll go ahead and show you how to install the Custom Under Bed Kit for the B and W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. We'll begin our installation under the rear of the vehicle. You want to make sure you lower down your spare tire, so you have enough room to work as well as lower down your exhaust. We'll then lower down our exhaust. You're going to use a 10mm socket to remove both the bolts holding in your rear hanger here.

There's going to be one here on the inside of the frame. And then next, I'll need to lower down our exhaust here in front of the axle by removing the large exhaust hanger there. We're just going to pry that off using a pry bar. And this will give us some more room to work. Then we're going to remove the heat shield located above our exhaust. You'll just pull this down out of the way.Now we'll refer to our instructions and mark our truck bed accordingly. So we've got it all measured out here.

Start by drilling a pilot hole. You can use a 1/4 inch drill bit to do this. We're then going to switch to a 4 inch hole saw. And what I like to do if you've got a spray in bed liner, is to actually start the hole saw backwards just to cut through the spray in bed liner. Once you've just marked it by going backwards, we can then go forwards.

Then we'll take some clear spray paint to just cover that up to help prevent against corrosion.Next we're going to slide our rails in. We're going to start with the rear rail. You'll know it's the rear because it will have a notch on both edges on one side and that one is going to go toward the passenger side. So we're going to just try and slide it in there, if it won't fit, we may need to cut a small notch in the sheet metal located there.Well we made our little mark where our rail was hitting, so we're going to cut a notch out of that with our cut off wheel. We'll then slide our rail into position.Once you've got both your rear and front rails slid in, you're going to want to separate those. We're going to bring our rear rail toward the back of the vehicle. And we're just going to leave our front rail where it's at.Next we'll take our clamp bracket, and we're going to put that around the frame. Once you've got your clamp bracket around the frame, you can then slide our side bracket between our clamped bracket. You want to make sure that the side bracket goes behind the bottom portion of your clamp, between the frame and then on the top, you want to make sure that the stud from the clamp bracket goes through your side bracket. We'll then place a lock washer and a nut on the stud from our clamp bracket. We'll then take this spacer that comes in our kit, it's going to go between the side bracket and the frame. We're going to feed that up. Then we're going to take the largest bolt that comes in the kit, that's going to go through the side bracket, the spacer, and the frame. On the backside, we're going to place a flat washer, lock washer and nut on that bolt. Then we'll take that brass part that comes in the kit, and place a flat washer on it. Slide it through the clamp bracket, then into our side bracket and follow that up with a lock washer and a nut. We're going to repeat all of these same procedures on the opposite side. Now we'll lift our center section into place. You want to make sure on the bottom here you've got your release handle on the driver's side. We're just going to line that up with the hole. Now we'll hold our center section in place. You want to take one of your bolts with a flat washer on it, slide it though your rail. And on the other side, you want to follow that up with a lock washer and a nut. We're going to repeat that for all the remaining holes in our rail to our center section. We'll then place our bolt through our clamping bracket and side plate bracket. Follow that with a lock washer and the nut. And don't forget to put the bolts on the outside of the vehicle frame through your cross members into the side plates. That's just going to be a bolt from the inside out, followed by a flat washer, lock washer, and nut.We can then go back and tighten down all of our hardware. We're going to use a 3/4 socket and wrench to tighten everything down, except for the large bolts that go through the side of the frame rail. Now torque all of your hardware to the specifications found in your instructions.Next we're going to drill out the holes for our safety chain loops. You want to use a 1/2 inch drill bit and then we'll use our center section holes as a pilot, you want to use the inside set of holes. And we're going to repeat this for the remaining three holes. And we're going to clear coat those again, just to protect that from corrosion. We can then drop our U-bolts right down the frame. On our U-bolts, we're going to take the springs that come in the kit, slide that up over the bolt, and place a locking nut on the other side. We're going to repeat that for the other part of our U-bolt here and the other U-bolts on the other side.Next, we'll tighten our locknuts down just until they're flush with the bottom of the U-bolt. We're going to use a 19mm socket to tighten them down. We'll then slide our handle in from the outside, making sure to go through the opening in our center section. We'll then take one of the larger carriage bolts that come in the kit, we're going to slide it through our center section and then through the handle. On the other side, we're going to place a flange nut. We'll then tighten that down with a 1/2 inch wrench.Next we'll be reinstalling our exhaust. You will get some hardware that's included with your kit to help lower the exhaust down to increase clearance so it doesn't come into contact with your new gooseneck. Our customer has an aftermarket exhaust system installed that changed its geometry, so we won't be installing these components. But this bracket here and this hardware would allow you to drop down the rear most bracket that we removed. And the front most bracket, these are some spacers, you can take out the nuts and drop that bracket as well. Now we can reinstall our exhaust. Now you can reinstall your spare tire, and you're ready to hit the road. And that completes our installation of B and W's Custom Installation Kit for B and W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches on our 2010 Ford F-350 Super Duty.

Excellent products. Both hitches (goose and 5th) came as described and were built very well! B&W does not skimp on materials. At first, thinking about how the companion secures to the gooseneck I was skeptical about the strength of the to two working in tandem. Both work flawlessly, are easy to use and the companion comes apart to reduce weight when putting in and out of truck. Timely shipping from e trailer. Best price I could find. Easy install. 297199

  • Recommended Gooseneck And 5th Wheel Hitch For 2001 F-350 With 8 Foot Bed
Based on your photos, I can not identify the system you have and it appears that it was a custom job that doesn't work with current options. My recommendation is to remove the customized system and start over so you know that all of your parts are compatible. Since they appear in the fitguide for both the gooseneck and fifth wheel hitches though we gave them slightly different part numbers to make it easier for us to organize. For your 2004 Ford F-350 Super Duty the Turnoverball rail kit part # BWGNRK1108 or # BWGNRK1108-5W is the correct kit and would work well for you.

Installation kit # BWGNRK1108-5W is correct for a 2006 Ford F-350 long bed or short bed. Hitch # BWRVK3500-5W is the correct hitch for a long bed. For a short bed use # BWRVK3400-5W. Once the...

  • Recommendations for Gooseneck and Fifth Wheel Hitch on 1999 Ford F-350 Short Bed
The best option to tow both a gooseneck and 5th-wheel trailer with your 1999 Ford F-350 with 6-3/4 foot bed is to use the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3400-5W along with the underbed installation kit # BWGNRK1108-5W. This is a great sliding 5th-wheel hitch that will give you an additional 12 inches of clearance for making sharp turns with your truck's shorter bed. The hitch has a gross towing weight of 20,000 pounds and vertical load limit of 5,000 pounds. The...

  • 5th wheel puck/goose neck system for 2000 f350- WHAT KIND OF AIRBAGS?
I have a solution for you, but unfortunately there is not an aftermarket combination Gooseneck hitch and puck system mounting kit available for your 2000 Ford F-350. Additionally, without knowing which air bag system you have installed, it's tough to confirm what will be compatible. With that being said, the best way to tow a 5th wheel and also have a gooseneck hitch available in your truck is by using the B&W Custom Underbed Installation Kit # BWGNRK1108-5W paired with the B&W Companion...

  • Is There An Adapter for the Ford Puck System Hitch to Be Compatible With Above Bed Rails?
There is an adapter from the Ford factory puck system to standard base rails to make standard 5th wheel hitches compatible with the pucks, but there is not an adapter for the puck system hitch to fit industry standard base rails. For your B&W hitch to work in your 2010 F-350, you would need to use the Custom Underbed Installation Kit for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWGNRK1108-5W and then use the Replacement Base for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 20,000 lbs #...

  • 5th Wheel Hitch Needed to Fit with Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 # AL88398 on a 2008 Ford F-250
The Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit # RP30073 may fit with the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 # AL88398 according to my contact at Air Lift but you may have to do some drilling into the 5th wheel brackets. I don't advise doing this so instead I recommend going with the B&W Gooseneck Kit # BWGNRK1108-5W which already has a hole in the bracket where the bolt from your air bag kit will fit. This will not only allow you to tow a gooseneck trailer, but you can still tow a 5th wheel trailer...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 15K KZ Durango 5th Wheel and 2008 Ford F-350 Diesel
Your KZ Durango Gold 384RLT 5th wheel trailer has a GVWR of 14,995-lbs so for a hitch I recommend at least an 18K rating. Safety margin in any item, whether a 5th wheel hitch, winch or jack, tends to mean a longer working life for that item since operating a product below its absolute maximum capacity will usually mean it will operate with less wear and stress. The 6.8L F-350 SRW pickup has plenty of towing capacity for this trailer. Since you have a long bed F-350 you do not need to...

  • Is a Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch Needed to Tow with a 2007 Ford F-350 Diesel with Short Bed
Although some people can make it work, for any pickup with a bed less than 8' we always recommend going with a sliding 5th wheel hitch. This allows you to safely make sharp turns without your 2004 Forest River Cedar Creek making contact with the cab of your 2007 Ford F-350. You actually don't need a capture plate unless your pin box has a rotating turret, like a Sidewinder, or you have an automatic sliding 5th wheel hitch. If you have a normal pin box then no special capture plate is...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Rails in 2008 Ford F-350
The B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck # BWGNRK1108-5W also serves as the underbed rails for the B&W Companion and does not fit other fifth wheel hitches. Don't let the lack of options dissuade you though because this is the fifth wheel hitch I would recommend for you even if you did not already have the base rails because the Companion is considered by many to be the highest-quality fifth wheel hitch available and height should not be an issue because it can adjust from between 16-1/4" to 18-1/4"....
