Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.
- If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
- If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
- If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
- If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I get a lot of comments from my fellow sailors now that I fitted these rims to my boat trailer. For me they weigh less than galvanized and never rust. The fact that they look great is a bonus. Took the trailer from California to Texas and back and the tires still look good.

Hello Steve, Thanks for all you help. The lug nuts I called about were actually 12mm x 1.25. Les Schwab was able to verify the size. So close to the 1/2 x 20 that they would go on, but did not feel right. Again thanks for your help, I am happy with the wheels and tires and appreciate the time you spent hrlping me out.

Stickers on the front of rims are very difficult to remove. There is no way to remove them without using a scouring material, even after soaking area numerous times since delivery. No very happy having to spend more than 2 hours trying to make brand new tires and wheels, right out of the box, presentable. Didn’t anybody realize that putting stickers that say “how to remove stickers” would be unnecessary IF STICKERS WERE NOT PUT ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE!

I ordered the Kenda KR25 ST145R12 Radial Trailer Tire with 12" Aluminum Wheel to replace the 12 x 5.30" tires that were on my tent trailer. I received the new wheels VERY fast, in only three days time and was very pleased. The tires are approx. 1/4" smaller in diameter than the ones they replaced, but since they have a flatter tread profile it is hardly noticeable. the tires are slightly wider than the ones they replaced, and the tread is a flat profile, like that of a car tire. The rims appear to be of high quality as do the tires. I am one happy camper!

I'm trying a D range Radial trailer tire for the first time. With a couple of cross country trips planned for this summer, I'm hoping that they will run cooler and longer than the bias tires which seem to age very quickly.

Just installed. The lug nut area was too small and required a thin walled socket. This might not be carried by everyone and cause trouble trying to change tire on the road. I will now have to carry this when I travel.
I haven't traveled yet with them on yet.
