Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Replacement Idler Hub Recommendation For Boat Trailer With 07100 Bearings
To find the correct hub for your boat trailer there are a couple things you need to know. First, you said the bearings you have are 07100. In my research I found that the 07100 bearing has an inner diameter of 1.000 inch. We have a bearing that matches that dimension. It is part # L44643. If your hub uses the same inner and outer bearing the hub we offer that is a match is part # AKIHUB-440-2-1K. This is an idler hub for 2000-lb axles and it has a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. The hub comes...

  • Availability Of Trailer Hubs For A Harbor Freight Trailer With A 25 mm Spindle
I can certainly point you in the right direction. The closest thing we have to a 25 mm (0.984") spindle will be hubs that fit a 1" (25.4 mm) straight spindle. For example the Trailer Idler Hub # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K uses a # L44643 bearing (1" inner diameter). This is a fairly common size for a 2,000 lb trailer axle, which harbor freight trailers are known to use. Generally we would want you to confirm the bearing numbers and bolt pattern of your hub prior to ordering. The AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K...

  • What Hub Do I Need For A Trailer With 4.80-4.00-8 Tires
I can certainly point you in the right direction. Most 4.80-4.00-8 tires will use a hub with a 4 on 4, or 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. Since your trailer is fairly small, I suspect it would be a 4 lug hub. Next we just need to confirm your trailers spindle/bearing sizes. Most smaller trailers like yours use a # L44643 (1" inner diameter) bearing or a # L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) bearing. You will simply need to pull one of the current hubs and confirm the bearing size. You can do this...

  • What is the Difference Between Trailer Hubs # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K and # AKIHUB-440-2-G-2K
The two hubs you mentioned, # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K and # AKIHUB-440-2-G-2K fit different spindles. More specifically they use different bearings and seals. First, hub # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K uses L44643, with a 1 inch inner diameter, as the inner and outer bearing, and the seal is a 34823, which has an inner diameter of 1.249 inches and outer diameter of 1.983 inches. Based on your information this sounds like the correct replacement. Check your old bearing numbers or you can take measurements...

  • Replacement Hub for Spindle With 1" Inner Diameter Bearings
The # AKIHUB-545-2-G-2K uses # L44649 bearings with an inner diameter of 1.063" and also has a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. Since you need # L44643 bearings with an ID of 1" and a 4 on 4 bolt pattern the correct part would be the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 4 on 4 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K. If you have an easy grease/EZ Lube axle then you would need the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2K Axles - 4 on 4 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-1K instead.

  • Hub with 4 Lug Bolt Pattern that Uses Bearing Numbers L44649
The two bearings you mentioned have different inner diameters. The # L44643 has an inner diameter that is exactly 1 inch and the # L44649 is 1.06 inch. This may not seem like a lot but it's a big enough difference to prevent the hub you have now from fitting your spindle (you may already know this). The seals are slightly different diameters too. Since you wouldn't be able to swap out the bearings of your current hub to the correct size you need (the hub won't match), the only solution...

  • Solution for Replacement Hubs on Northern Tool Ultra-Tow 49803 Aluminum Trailer
The bearings on your Ultra-Tow trailer are the 30205. Unfortunately, we don't carry any hubs that use this bearing combination. They aren't the easiest to find and I doubt you'll find them galvanized. There may be a 5 lug option out there but again it isn't something that we have. It is also worth mentioning that clearance could be an issue moving to a larger tire so keep that in mind. If you aren't able to find a replacement that fits your criteria with those bearings the second best...

  • Replacing Hubs On An EZ-Loader Boat Trailer
I am happy to help point you in the right direction, but we do not have a way to look ou a year, make, model or VIN of a trailer and know what kind of hubs are on it. EZ Loader may be able to look up a VIN for you. Otherwise, the best way is to remove a hub and confirm some specs. We would want to confirm the lug pattern, and the inner and outer bearing sizes. For example, the # CE13311 that you were looking at is a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and it uses a # L44649 inner and outer bearing...

  • How to Determine Correct Replacement Trailer Hub for 1-1/4 Inch Diameter Spindle
So there are only a couple ways to definitively know what replacement hub you need, and this is based on a bit of necessary information. First, you need to know the weight rating of your axle, and also what bearings your current hub has, as spindle size is an indicator but doesn't have the required info. You will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them....

For a 1 inch spindle on a boat trailer, I recommend the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-545-2-G-1K or the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 4 on 4 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K. The best way to fid replacement hubs for your boat trailer is to find the number stamped on the bearings in the hub you have. I have attached a drawing that shows where the numbers can be found. A non-tapered spindle with a 1.00" diameter will use an # L44643 inner and outer bearing, so you'll want to use the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 4 on 4 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K, which have a 4 on 4 bolt pattern and work with 12" wheels. These hubs are galvanized so they're ideal for boat trailers, have a 2000-lbs capacity and are the only available capacity that will fit on those spindles. I've linked a short review video of these for you to have a look at.

  • Can a 5-Lug Trailer Hub Replace a 4-Lug if the Bearings and Seals are the Same
Yes, you can go with hub # AKIHUB-545-2-G-1K since it uses the same bearings and seal size as your regular hub # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K. Keep in mind that you will also have to switch to wheels with the 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. I would assume you are wanting to go with 12 inch tires which is the largest either of these hubs can take. I have included a link to all of the wheel and tire and wheel combos we have in the 12 inch size with 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern.

  • Recommended Spindle/Hub Combo for a 1,750 lb Axle
Hey Stevan, the Replacement Hub Assembly # DM04369 is just the hub, so the spindle is not included. This is a replacement part for the Demco Kar Kaddy so it'd use the existing spindle and mounting bolts to install. For a spindle, the closest it looks like we carry is a 2,000 lb spindle like the BT8 Spindle for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles # TRU94FR. This spindle would work great with the hub # 34822545BX for a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern, or # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K for a 4 on 4 bolt pattern - Both...
