Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

It is just what I expected. Fits my rims. Fast shipment.

by:

This product was well worth the money. etrailer ships very fast. In 4 days after making my oder, the hubs were at my door.
Awesome product !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by:

Hubs were in excellent condition. All machined surfaces looks like they just came off of the lathe. Painted surfaces looked to be well done also. Bearings came in a separately packed box inside one of the larger boxes to protect them and they were individually packaged in zip lock bags to keep out moisture.
Shipping only took three (3) days---that's amazing.

by:

Product arrived on time with excellent tracking information and the parts were high quality parts from Dexter Axle that fit like a glove.

by:

Great service, received the wheel hub , placed on axle , haven’t moved trailer yet but all parts fit perfect

Hello Gerald, it's awesome everything fit perfectly for your set up and that you received great service during your purchase! Feel free to let us know how everything works once you get it moving.

by:

We purchased several items from etrailer.com. The buying process was easy as most online purchases. The thing that stands out is the communication after the purchase - acknowleging the purchase, informing when it ships and following up after notification of delivery. Nowadays it rare to receive good customer service. This is one company that is doing it right!

by:

Outer races were installed making the rest of the installation easy. Shipping was fast and on time. Packaging was solid. Great deal for all that was included (drum, bearings, lugs, seal, dust cover). Don't forget you'll need a new cotter pin since that is not included. Only problem I had was that I lost a lug nut.

by:

So far performing well. Have not been able to use trailer yet as much as I wanted too.

by:

Nice Product, fit my 1975 Airstream camper perfect! Very pleased with the quality. Arrived in timely manner and well packaged. I will purchase from etrailer again.

by:

Thank you for your expeditious shipment! Arrived quicker than noted. I always try to get OEM replacement parts rather than after market, saves a lot of headaches lol. Will definitely use this company for further trailer parts. Thanks again.

Havent had any issues, working just as expected. Great replacement, have another trailer needing this upgrade.

by:

Added brakes to a 2900# trailer that I had for over 40 years. Needed new rims so I went with 6 bolt pattern. Everything went together without any issues.

by:

Kathy went far beyond what she had to do, in order to get my company trailers back on the road. She got us the Dexter hub assemblies shipped out promptly and at a great price. We still had to find an axle, bc they were out of stock.. But Kathy directed us to a few other competitors. One of which helped us out with that. Thank you very much.

Weve had nothing but trouble with chinese parts failing, constantly. Never had a problem with Dexter parts tho. BUY DEXTER brand. Or buy 2 or 3 chinese parts as backup. Your choice.

by:

Drums, Bearings, & Brakes arrived promptly within a few days of ordering. I chose the Dexter brand parts for 2 reasons. One because I have owned as well as installed Dexter parts in the past and I am familiar with the quality and craftsmanship. Also, and foremost "Made in the USA". Kinda makes you wonder. Do the Chinese look for the "Made in China" label?
Thank you,
God Bless America!
I'll be back,
PJF

When I called last year I got a young women on the phone who was very helpful. She explained to me how to check my trailers axle to make sure I purchased the correct parts. When I received the parts everything was perfect. They fit and have been working great for the last year and don't see anything changing. I have made numerous purchases from etrailer and don't see that ever changing. Thanks for the help.

by:

I installed these hubs as part of an upgrade and rebuild of a 20 year old trailer and so far they are working great! I wanted to convert my trailer to 6-bolt wheels to make them standard with my other two trailers and the conversion worked flawlessly!

by:

exactly what I wanted

by:

Very happy with product and price. Shipping time was just what I expected. When using the online catalog I was able to pin down the parts that I needed. The one thing that would have been better was that the backing plate bolts didn't come with nuts (7/16 fine). The size is not that common so a trip to the store was required. Overall, very satisfied.

by:

This Drum is Heavy as it should be, but the packaging is terrible. Place the Bearings, Lug Nuts, and Seal all in a light weight bag and expect no Damage? The seal was bent and the bearings have metal shavings / Dust from the Lug Nuts! Of course they can be cleaned, but that is just more work. I have never seen Bearings not individually packaged to keep them clean, and I have been doing bearings for over 50 years. You get what you pay for. Buy elsewhere!

by:

I had a very pleasant experience dealing with etrailer. Their customer service department was exceptionally responsive to ensure that I got my parts on time. Five stars isn't enough

by:

The parts arrived quickly and safely. Etrailer answered all my questions when I called and when I wrote by email. The parts are very high quality as well.

by:

Part of the assembly was missing. The axle nut and attending washer. The grease seal was bent and was evident someone had tried using the seal. It was scratched up and showed punch mark.

Oh my goodness, I am not sure what happened there. Customer Service will be in touch and we can replace what is missing or damaged.

by:

Perfect fit for my RV. Only took 30 min to pack wheel bearings with grease and install it.

by:

Hub and breaks were delivered quickly and price was great. The items were what I expected and installation was simple. Would highly recommend this company.

by:

Excellent prompt service. Thank you

Exactly what I wanted. Super fast shipping. I will buy from etrailer.com for all my future needs. Keep up the great work!

  • Availability of Dexter Axle Brake Assemblies K23-026-00 and K23-027-00
We do have the regular Dexter Axle brakes and their Nev-R-Adjust equivalents. The regular (manually adjusted) brakes that you are wanting are listed as part # 23-26 for the Left Hand side and part # 23-27 for the Right Hand side. Their Nev-R-Adjust equivalents are parts # 23-468 and # 23-469 respectively. The Dexter Axle hub and drum assemblies that we have for a 3,500 lb axle use the Inner Bearing # L68149 and Outer Bearing # L44649. If you have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern then you want...

You are correct the only difference in the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assemblies # 84656UC3 and # 84656UC3-EZ is the grease cap. The Kit # 84656UC3-EZ uses an EZ Lube # DC200L-DCRP cap while the other has a standard Grease Cap # F001518 spindles without a grease cap.

  • Can Passenger Vehicle Tires be Used on a Trailer to Increase the Ground Clearance
The problem is that the tire size you have on your Toyota 4Runner is fine for vehicle tires but 265/70-17 is not a trailer tire size. That means you would have to use vehicle tires. But you do not want to use vehicle tires because they are constructed differently than trailer tires. Trailer tires are built with a thicker sidewall to handle more vertical load. Passenger vehicle tires would not perform well or last long on a trailer and could potentially be dangerous. There are other ways...

I believe I have a solution for you, but there are not hubs available that have a 6 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. I believe you may have meant to type 6 on 5-1/2 inch. Which I can help if so. For a Timbren System part # ASR3500S05 would work well and then for a 6 on 5-1/2 inch hub to install on the spindle you would want part # 84656UC3.
